It's a bit of a mess, but I enjoyed it. Some of the side games are terrible. Beigoma is legitimately awful and the cooking mini game goes on at least 6 rounds too long. Worst thing is the magic system is really bad. Spells are completely worthless until they are completely overpowered. The fact that combo attacks are worse than individuals acting on their own is also a huge combat oversight that kind of makes the game more boring than it should have been. One of the fun things about Suikoden series is running different party members with different combo attacks but combo attacks in EC just aren't worth doing. But, ultimately, that's kind of all I got for criticisms. It's 90% of the way to being perfect. If they fix the damage of combo attacks, it would go from being a fun game to a great game.
I've played suikoden I and Ii 5 years ago, cuz I'm into retro rpg and it was recommended a lot. I absolutely loved it! Bought Eyuden some weeks ago but just got 4 hours into it, but it started out really good!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. I really like the pre war scenes where the characters talk about their future plans, but it's sort of an awkward conversation, because none of them know if they will make it. The music was phenomenal, especially one of the final tracks. Really moved me!
I liked it alright, but it fell short in a lot of ways for me. And we still have no news on when the supporter rewards other then the game will be sent.
I loved this game it was fun had its issues but overall I was very glad I got this game and it’s a worthy successor. I was not completing the mini games though. I had no crashes or dealt with any bugs.
The story was for me a huge letdown. It felt like a watered-down Suikoden experience. It didn't help that they made this game kids friendly, because the writing was a bit more mature for Suikoden 1 & 2.
I remembered the bug where your mob encounter rate was apparently tied to your monitor refresh rate, so you will have very low encounter rate and can pretty much run through the dungeon with only a few battle - which is great but a nightmare to level up
Weird, I don't think I ever lost a duel. Maybe one time. But agree that they're the worst combat format by far. I also didn't love the strategy combat. I felt that both of these were better in 3/4/5. I actually really liked 4's ship combat.
I'm a huge suikoden fan and also backed this on Kickstarter. Haven't finished yet but having an absolute blast with it, my only major gripe is how the unite attacks often feel weaker than just attacking
IF YOU ARE A COMPLETIONIST AVOID THIS GAME BUT IF U ARE A CASUAL GAMER AND A SUIKODEN FAN ITS OKAY, IVE PUT IN 160HOURS, THE LOADING SAVE SCUM IS FUCKING HORRIBLE, JUST TRYING TO WAIT FOR THE RARE FINDS RECIPE, RNG JESUS IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE IN THIS GAME, EGGFOOT RACE AND CARD GAME IS TOLERABLE IF YOU HAVE THE PATIENCE LIKE 30-50 HOURS TO GET THE TROPHY BUT THE TREASURE HUNTER TROPHY AND RECIPE HUNTING IS FUCKING HORRIBLE AND SOMETIMES BUG JUST WAIT FOR THE GOOD QUALITY OF LIFE PATCH IF THEY REALLY CARE.
I am kind of glad I didn't buy this game now. I know Suikoden has some minigames that could annoy me, but at least those minigames are simple enough and easy to just get through to get new characters. I am in the bracket of people who despise minigames, because I can not be bothered to learn them to do side activities when I could just skip them. A big reason why I never played any final fantasy games. Especially 7. It has too many minigames in the story and I don't know how much I'm allowed to screw up in order to just continue the story and get past it. I do like fishing in my RPGs, but only if it's doable without breaking your hands. Ys 8 comes to mind. I did catch all of the fishies even though they literally almost broke my hands. But yeah, I miss OG Suikoden. I don't think Eyiuden is bad, but I just hate minigames too much. I want the option to skip it. Gonna play more Trails now.
Eiyuden Chronicle is a remarkable game crafted with evident passion. I've invested over 120 hours into it, and I'm impressed by the quality achieved despite budget constraints. The graphics stand out as some of the most beautiful in the current generation. The mini-games are engaging, particularly the card battles, which consumed 20 hours of my playtime alone. The difficulty strikes a good balance - challenging enough to require thought but not insurmountable. However, the one-on-one battles prove exceptionally difficult due to the need for precise button choices based on less transparent opponent dialogue cues, unlike in Suikoden. In contrast, the army battles are relatively easy, likely due to their scripted nature, especially the final confrontation where many enemy units defect to your side. Overall, Eiyuden Chronicle offers a deep, enjoyable experience that surpasses expectations given its development limitations. Thank you, Murayama-san and the team at Rabbit & Bear Studios.
Just dropping by in the comments to say it's a fun game that I love that I highly recommend before the freaks that say the everyone involved in the game should lose their job and/or die show up
I wouldn't wish that myself, but I still think the localization team could have left their politics out the door and not try (and fail) to spice up the translation with stuff like rub-a-dub-dub.
Only thing I did not like about the game is that they released extra dlc. I like my RPGs to be complete before hand. Have not played since lol. Too bad was fun.
