I'm so happy for you Kimberly! I'm sure you already are feeling more energetic already! I was lucky, I did not gain weight from any medications I've taken that had weight gain as a side effect, including antidepressants. For me, keto was the answer. Not just the fat and the protein, but the appetite control. Once I started feeding myself nourishing and delicious foods, I stopped snacking and eating sugary junk foods altogether. Great job!

So happy to hear you have less pain, more happiness, and cheering you along your journey! 🎉💪 My partner gained a lot of fat because of medication, so I see that struggle first-hand. I also gained fat from depression over the past few years. I’m finally feeling good, so I haven’t been overeating or sitting all day, and I’ve begun to shed the extra fat slowly. It feels so good to have energy again! 😁 Have you heard about Glucose Goddess? My sibling told me her advice helped them a lot with energy and stress, just with minor changes, like the timing of eating carbs. I want to learn more and maybe try it myself, because it sounds simple and not restrictive. I can’t give up carbs completely, but I want better balance.

My weights been trouble too. In my 20s on antipsychotic meds I used to wake up every morning with 4 or 5 bowls next to my bed as I'd been eating cereal all through the night. Just an example. I have been to 100kg then down to around 70kg several times in the last 20 years. Last year I got down to 70kg and recently I was 94kg ha I'm 90kg now. Wouldn't it be nice to not be on meds and see how eating and weight falls naturally. I'm on keto now, I lost that 4 recent kgs of water weight in 2 weeks now I've lost nothing in 2 months anyway these people on psyche meds that weight is no issue are quite lucky I think.

Hi! I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 in 2020. I actually had weight loss surgery in 2017 and lost 115 pounds. I kept it off until i was put on lithium and risperidone. I gained all my weight back within 9 months of 2020 and I have steadily gained since. I'm currently 315 and have all the issues and more that initially made me get WLS. I'm happy you found a way to lose weight. I often feel defeated, depressed and embarrassed that I gained all the weight back and seemingly can't lose it. I know it a combo of both meds and the eating habits I fell into since 2020. I would love to see how you did it specifically !

I’m on olanzapine 10 mg for the past 23 years. I was 18 when I started it now I’m 41. And lately, I’m not sure why, maybe my age, I can’t lose more than 1 -2 kilograms no matter how hard I try. I work out, I walk a lot. But it’s okay for me during the day, I don’t feel hunger but at night, after I take my medication, I can’t stop eating. As you said low carb diet really helps me but on olanzapine I just crave for carbs and just keto diet isn’t satisfying for me. I tried changing my medication but it didn’t work out for me.

@@KimberlyHallberg yes, I feel great hunger after an hour I take olanzapine. Losing weight on olanzapine feels really like a battle. But idk, my dad has Parkinson’s disease and he has been on the old types of medications for years (he has psychosis) so I am afraid if I change my medication that I will develop Parkinson’s as well since a lot of antipsychotics can cause Parkinson’s like symptoms and olanzapine seems to be less likely on that matter. I already tried risperidone but I felt like zombie on it and I tried aripriprazone but I felt into psychosis like 4 days after taking it, so idk. I think I will try low carb diet again though it’s so hard to fight the desire for carbs on olanzapine especially at night

What is your height and weight currently? I am really wondering because I would like to know your BMI as I am on a weight loss journey and would like to lose weight with you! I can relate to your weight loss journey because I used to weigh 94 kg at 1.76 m (5 feet 9.3 inches), which is considered Class 2 obesity. According to one website, my BMI was in the 30s. Today, I weigh 77.3 kg! I was of normal weight throughout much of my childhood, though I might have been slightly underweight. The reason for my weight gain was Psychosis (NOS), which you may have heard of. I was quite difficult to diagnose and was also diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. I ended up gaining 34 kg (about 74 pounds) as a result of the medication. However, I haven't been mentally ill for over two years now and am fully recovered. I went from 60 kg to 94 kg due to the illnesses, and now I am 77.3 kg, so I have lost about 17 kg (37 pounds). Interestingly, I need to lose about 17 kg (37 pounds), which is similar to your goal of losing 40 pounds! Also, my father's colleague has had either a gastric bypass or gastric sleeve surgery, so it seems like everyone is losing weight! What is your goal BMI? Mine is 20.
