Tosohatchee when the creeks are flooded.
It was Monday and our younger son had come into town to celebrate a friends birthday. “Happy Birthday Juan!” We started off with a good breakfast at a place in Lake Nona called Canvas, it is a good place with satisfying food. The breakfast burrito rocked. Juan joined us for the ride and even got a chance to drive some.
We choose Tosohatchee because Bow season started Saturday. It is normally and nice easy trail ride with plenty of gators and birds. I have caught a few snakes out here, just not today.
The roads are wet and there are many potholes. As we traveled down power line rd we turned onto Fish Pond Rd. We were surprised to see that the road was completely flooded. Way off in the distance you could see a patch of road. The stock friendly and easy ride just turned into an awesome trail with long water crossings. The road was there and most of the time the water was less than 2 feet. Adventure awaits.
We were on our own and not in the company of other Jeepers. We slowly moved through the water to make sure we did not fall on a unseen wash out. As we approached Jims Creek the current was cutting across the road and the depth was getting deeper. We backed out so close to our next portion of the ride.
Thanks for watching and we appreciate those who have subscribed. If you head out there bring cash there is a day use fee. Around $7. Check with the ranger station if they are there. It’s always good to se if there is anything going on or that you should be aware of. Drive safe and stay on names and numbered roads. Bring your pole there are places to fish. They also have bathrooms at the entrance and down at Charlie’s pond. Till the next ride, keep on Jeepin’

We took a ride again on Wednesday and discovered most of the floods had drained away. Jims Creek still was around 25" under water though. We will upload the video soon. We were also stopped and a LEO checked our passes. Make sure you fill out the form and keep your day pass. $3 buck a person. He said they had been watching the area for people making muddy mess holes out there. Just stay on the roads and its all good.

I believe the water is called “tannic,” from the acids produced during decomposition. Blackwater River in the panhandle, my home stomping grounds, has that water year round. Great video!

That's the term. It all made me want some Sweet Tea.

FloridaJeepRides Haha! It actually wasn’t too bad to swim in. We did a lot of canoeing down Blackwater, stop at a sand bar, and have a picnic with a swim!

Love this place. Last year I managed all the flooded roads. I learned that extending diff breathers is very important. Great video as always

Breather tubes are ordered. Today the water dropped about 20 inches. The Jims creek was still around 25 inches deep. Yep glad I chose to turn around on Monday.

There are plenty of places to wheel in the area. We like the areas that are not going to destroy the Jeep and have things to see along the way. Getting there may be half the journey, but a cool destination makes it even better.

Most of it is dried up today. The creek still had around 25" of depth. We parked in about 19" on Monday when we turned around. Today it was land where we parked. 25 + 19.... I'm glad we did not chance it alone.

We went back out on Wednesday the 23rd and most of the water had drained away. Still there was around 25" at Jims creek. A LOE stopped us at the first turn to see our day pass. Nice guy but they are out checking on people.

White-tailed deer did NOT carry ticks that infected cattle. But ranchers thought they did and they killed 10s of thousands of deer all over the state in a horrible wanton waste. It lead to the establishment of the then Game and Freshwater Fish Commission to regulate wildlife harvest.

We just got back, the creek area is still under around 2 feet of water. The roads are mostly dry today. Still we had some good water crossings.

I know you don't have a snorkel but what do you have for your breather intake?
@FloridaJeepRides

Its up in the hood in a box. The axle tubes are up in the very top of the tub. A Cold air intake.
