Hi David, just to let you know I am a medical doctor myself and one of the things that influenced me to pursue this field was my mother's stories about Dr Robertson's professionalism in his Rustenburg Private practice. My mother used to be a domestic worker but just hearing her stories motivated me to follow a career in Medicine. Thank God for Doctors like Dr Robertson and Dr Masilela. God bless you.
Thank you for sharing your mom's experience and your influence in your career path with us Dr Ngwira always remember we appreciate you valuable time you put in your chosen careers it's not easy to study I respect both the hustlers/business people and academics nothing is easy in this life such stories really touch some us beyond our comprehension.
Dr. Ronnie Masilela is a great story teller, all the time i keep having pictures in my mind of the situations he is talking about. yet i was not even born at the time. Thank you King David
Right...he painted it so well especially when talking about his granpa. I am not even South african but i was able to visualise every place he spoke about.
Thank you, for this interview David. I am 29 years old, I dropped out of UNI after 2nd year. I felt I am too old to go back even though my soul has been yearning to be a full time student again. I have managed to attain other qualifications studying part time but I yearn to finish the degree I never finished and to experience being a full time student. I am truly inspired. Thank you, Dr Masilela❤️
Feeling the same I'm 32, you re still young you can do it. I'm planning to go back next year. Dr Masilela is an inspiration for all of us who thinks it late. It's the noise out there that makes us to feel that way. Listen to yourself and fulfill your dreams ❤️
Go finish up. I dropped out at age 18 in my third year becuase I was to become a father. I picked up the degree 9 years later, full time. Redid the 3rd year and did my 4th year. I was 29 when I graduated. Its never too late
For me its the pure raw emotions of this story…Dr Masilela still feels everything so deeply and thats the beauty of this story❤…. My take aways: May we never write anyone off in this life time. What God has set apart can not be changed by men. Our dreams are valid.
By looking at Dr Masilela"s face I tried to remember where I knew him from, until he spoke, I recognised his voice. He used to visit NPSL offices where I worked in the 80s. He was a sports representative for SABC. For me to remember his voice is because we used to chat and had many little interesting stories to tell. Thank you Mashabela
In my next book, I'll probably mention this episode. Words cannot describe how inspired I am. Dr. Masilela's story highlights just how many hurdles life has for us, that just when you think you have arrived, life throws another obstacle. But in all that, Dr. Masilela's story also highlights how much we should just never give up for as long as we have breath. As for Dr. Robinson, I wish we all had such an angel and if we do, God might open our eyes so that we realise the angels He has placed in our lives. Thank you Mr Mashabela for this podcast ❤
Never a stranger's story got me in tears like this. wooow, 4 hours and that's just how long the hills he went through his youth age can be explained. true documentation of legendary stories, he is in a moment, the memory he has. you can tell how in the moment he was with his struggles.
I remember the time I was working at Absa the Glen as a security this old man won't left the branch without coming and talk to me we laugh all the time we meet and he will give R50 all the time he see me .I cry when I listen to his story he went through a lot am sorry Mr Masilela I never know that you went through such horrible life am sorry
Sad, funny, inspirational, beautiful, interesting and teachable moments. Understanding apartheid, impact on black families, trauma and challenges faced by black families. Absence of a father but the power of loving extended families, the role played by grandparents in South Africa until today.
Wow what an incredible story 👏👏, don't know where to start. God indeed sees us, Jehova El Roi: Genesis 16:13 🙌. He is the Father to the Fatherless ;Psalm 68:5 🙌. Thank you Mashabela for bringing uNtate Masilela, I learnt so much about the real impacts of forced removals and the Riots on ordinary lives. I am glad the dream of becoming a Doctor came true, I wish Ntate Dr. Masilela peaceful years filled with God's Blessing
Wow this is indeed a miracle, what an emotional, inspirational and impactful journey. How Mr Dave didn't shed a tear through this interview I don't know how he did it. I am touched 😭😭 this interview really ignited a fire🔥🔥🔥 within I HAVE A PLEA MAY WE PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT DR GETS A MOVIE RECORDED FOR HIS LIFE JOURNEY, A MESSAGE TO THE PRODUCTION AND BROADCASTING AGENCIES, AND ANYONE WHO CAN LAY A HELPING HAND PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏
You're doing God's work ntate Mashabela. This was very inspiring and insightful. Dr Masilela you've lived an eventful life and showed great courage and determination. When your time on earth is done, and you have fulfilled your purpose, men and beasts alike shall stand on top of your grave and sing praises and say, here lies a man!
Am tearing up every time the Dr tell the story of his life...Indeed he saw miracles And his a living testimony that God saw him through and that all things work together for good😢😍
After watching this episode,as someone whose in his early 30s who had lost hope in his life ,this episode gives me hope that eventually my life will go well
I pray for a healthy life and more years for you bra David 🙏 I so wish to meet you and give you a warm hug. What you are doing on this podcast is of service to our country and world you'll go down in history as one of the legendary podcasters in South Africa I wish everyone could take content creation very seriously information is very valuable and there will be time where they will be forced to buy it.
Wow! Dr Robertson is an angel. Dr Masilela is such an inspiration. In my 40's in 2025 I am completing my undergrad in Psychology and International Relations. This story resonates with every fibre of my being. May the good Lord give Dr Masilela good health and longevity.
As someone who was born and bred in the villages, raised by grandparents... i relate 101% with Dr Masilela's life story. My take from this is that "Perseverance is really a mother of success. " and again when the time is right, God will make it happen.
I couldn't work, totally glued to the story. Thank you Dr Ronnie Masilela for sharing your story. Thank you King David for this interview. Wow what a life ❤.
I used to listen to him and besides his exceptional soccer commentary, he would play PJ Powers-There's an answer and I was glued on the radio. This one time when he was doing ZIYADUMA EGOLI,he tried to put on the cassette for the Reverend who was recorded earlier to pray for the end of the day.The cassette did not play...he just said on air ,let me pray.....Wow....what a prayer..
I had the opportunity of working with Dr Masilela, in Heidelberg Hospital"little did I know that he is my uncle as I am the grandson of Johanna Mathebula, my parents refer to him as family". he would tell you his life story and no matter how hard you would think life is, his life story makes you believe anything is possible
Why are our people like this???The moment someone dies they turn up with some rules and demand...the love this man had for his grandfather was a father and son relationship;i shed a tear when he talked about how he suffered just to support his father.😭
I have never seen myself cry by just listening to someone telling a story of their life, I have never dedicated my life to do a reflection of the things I have taken for granted, Life is full of miracles and Angels all around us.
I needed to hear this - i do not think it was a coincidence that it happened on the 11:11 on the 01/11. There have been so many & much odds in my life. Time seems to be running out. But today, my strength jas been renewed.
What an interview! Thank you David man, the work you doing is amazing bhuti, never stop 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽. Special appreciation to Dr. Masilela he really worked on my emotions looking back where I come from. Thank you 🙏🏽

This was so therapeutic on so many levels...more than a story of success it was a past revisitation and a realization how God journeys with us without knowing it. I had a proper crying session after a long time.❤
I couldn't believe that I finished watching the interview and looking forward to the second episode. Thanks David your interview skills are incredible 🙏🙏
Most people went through a lot educated not educated we try to achieve under circumstance but we move on, The Legend is still crying for things that happened years ago Ayi Maan.

Wow!!! I can't wait for part 2. I have never watched a podcast for more than half an hour; however, I have managed to watch this entire episode. I was hooked and touched from the beginning to the end. This episode is packed with great life lessons, miracles and determination. I am glad that at least the aunt gave him a shirt and shoes. It was unfair what his family did to him, I wish he would one day let go and forgive them. I need to get his book. Great content Gootman David👌👌👌
