I Honestly Love You (Olivia Newton-John) reaction

Grab some tissue, my friends. Olivia tears up a bit herself in this 1974 original rendition of her huge 1974 hit about saying "I honestly love you," but it's just not going to work out. Terrific violins and piano add even more emotional thump to Olivia's gorgeous vocals, which reach in and grab your heart.
This is a dedication reaction to splendid Olivia, who passed away yesterday. Godspeed, lovely lady!

She was so beautiful, ive never seen another muscian that can make you think shes actually singing the song to you like she could, the way she sings into the camara, the vulnerability, the emotion, she was a one of a kind, RIP Olivia, i love you too

What a beautiful song of a married woman who's in love with the husband of another woman but must keep her distance. Precious!

I haven't even started the video yet and I know I'm going to cry. Olivia was my favorite singer as a young child in the 70s. I loved to sing along to her songs....Have You Never Been Mellow, Sam....I hope she's singing awesome duets in heaven with her friend Karen Carpenter.

I was at the dentist that day happy because it was national Xanadu day. Ten minutes later I read she’s gone and I just couldn’t stop crying. I miss her so much.

I fell in love with Olivia's voice the very first time I heard her on the car radio, around 1971 when I was seven. She became my favorite singer right there, and then. Shortly after I developed the longest crush I have ever had on any woman. Fifty-one years of loving this woman's voice, and having a crush on the World's Sweetheart has brought me immeasurable joy! So here is a video someone finally posted, of the very first time I saw her on television back in January 1975. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NTdcTOhzYSg.html When a woman sings like that, sings perfectly with so much emotion, and looks like a living angel, with that girl next door persona, how can you not fall in love with this amazing woman who did so much more than sing, and be in movies. There is a song where she sings in pink, and she really cries at the end of that one.

Yes indeed!! I’ve been meaning to do a reaction to “have you never been mellow” for a good while. I think I’m going to use that link you sent. Goodness, my heart is still fluttering. I miss her! Thanks a lot.

Yes....this was on the Andy Williams Show. I was fortunate enough to meet her 3 different times. She really is the sweetest person you could ever want to meet. She treats you like a real friend. If you watch this video on a large screen, midway through the song you will notice her eyes well up....and a tear goes down her left cheek. It took a long time for me to notice this and only after seeing it on a large screen. She has her head slightly turned to try to hide it. At the end of the song and as the camera moves back away from her you can see her quickly touch her face to wipe it away before the the camera cuts off from her. I really wanted to ask her about this moment but I respected her privacy too much to ask...but I'm pretty sure she was thinking about Peter Allen as she sang this....

ONJ was beautiful inside and outside. She was also very good friends with Karen Carpenter. Very sad to lose her. RIP. Thanks Dax.

Hey Dax. The news of Olivia's passing hit me hard, too. She was quite possibly the most unassuming icon of all time. There are certain singers who seem to know who they are to the point that they only give you themselves, and never try to reach past their own abilities. Sincerity is the word I'm looking for here. Olivia was sincere the way Dolly Parton is, or Barry White, or Johnny Cash, or ........ For a young boy, as we both were then, to have a beautiful girl talk to us eye to eye was irresistable. High School and hormones produced a toxic chess game between the sexes that too often devolved into a game of checkers. Everyone seemed to be driven in every other direction. Olivia would sing like how I wished a girl would talk to me. No games. No cheap adornments. Sincere. Honest. In the "rent a tux and limousine" BS that was the pull of that era, Olivia was the type of girl you could walk along the beach with and have the time of your life.

Yes, indeed, Wiley. She was the beautiful girl next door who didn't act beautiful and just looked straight at you with her lovely candor and sweetness. Yes, like Dolly, Barry and Johnny -- unassuming icons. As much as the deaths of Bowie and Prince and several others have affected me in the last 5 years or so, Olivia's hits me three times harder. She seemed to me to be the personification of benevolence and love. Thanks, my friend.

I am still devastated by the passing of Olivia. What a beautiful soul inside and out. I think this song personifies that more than any. Of course, the vocals are exemplary, but when she looks at you with those beautiful eyes, it just goes right through you.

This was the Andy Williams Show. She ended the concert I was lucky enough to go to with this song. I actually saw this when it aired. When, at about the 2:30 mark of the song, she kinda stops and says quietly, I LOVE YOU. Every guy watching that night fell in love with ONJ....sorry guys...she was talking directly to me. She is the only woman my wife ever had to worry about with me in our 55 years. I am sad.

I dont know if you know but Aussie Peter Allen (The Boy From Oz) wrote this. I don't know if he wrote it specifically for her but I think he did. Her other famous song was written by good friend John Farrar. Peter was played by Hugh Jackman on Broadway. He was married once to Liza Minnelli and died from Aids in the 1990s.

Such a heart felt reaction! I think Olivia’s loving spirit and authenticity shows through in all of her performances and it draws you into her! We all wish we had someone like her in our lives. It also seems she’s never lost that love of life and for people, even through all her challenges. Amazing! She’s so beautiful and talented, will miss her dearly! I had such a girl crunch on her, I feel you, when you say you loved her so much! Thank you for this !💕

Hi, daX: What a surprise to hear this news of Olivia's passing so shortly after Judith's passing. So sad for both! I remember the first time I heard Olivia on the radio was her singing Dylan's 'If Not For You'. It's so wonderful that you can pay tribute to the music of people who are gone from us and also to the ones that are still here.
