nice find man! i love my '09 696. got it from a friend for $1000. a bit of a gamble as well. it had sat out all winter in the parking lot with no cover or maintenance. needless to say it needed quite a bit of work. i sure did learn a lot along the way while fixing it. only 9000 kilometers on it and now its my daily commuter. videos like this really help me troubleshoot stuff while im working on my bike. thinking about uploading my own with things i find along the way. anyways nice bike nice buy and good luck bro

Mate! I just found you me videos; I bought a used 696 and had the same problem with the auto throttle lever, no one else ever understands. Well done and great buy !!!!

Use the cold start lever on the left handlebar to raise the idle when cold. Ahh....you literally just found it lol. :)

You successfully called out the two worst things about the 696 in my opinion. That fast idle lever which I hate having to do every time I do a new start cycle and the battery location. The main reasons I'm considering selling mine.

Do all the 696s have the throttle advance lever? I think it's kid of cool actually. Must make for a more engaging experience.

that's so freakin' cheap bro.. i got it 4 times more expensive here in Indonesia with the same year... :(
