My husband and I have started buying takeout boxes at the dollar store for the sheer fact we have grown ass children that have moved out of the house but every time they come for dinner they bring stuff home in Tupperware and all of a sudden we have zero pieces of Tupperware left so the disposable ones have come in very handy. I also found it wonderful after Thanksgiving to send dishes home with everyone.
I do the exact same thing!! Also, whenever we have a family holiday, we ALL bring our Rubbermaid or takeout boxes to split up the leftovers. These would be perfect. Portion them out into separate meals, and freeze them like homemade TV dinners!
@@emmyali920 YES! My husband and I bought a Rubbermaid kit from Sam’s Club so you know it was humongous and within three months or so we had nothing left LOL
I have a problem with depression. It's no joke. I was struggling today but happened onto your new video. OMG!!! Everything you say makes me laugh. Thank you for all you do!
The oldest thing I had was a bottle of oregano from 1972 (from when I was married).I finally discarded it about 2 years ago. The price was $.49 cents. Nostalgia for sure. I still remember going to the A & P and buying it. The grocery bill was $14.49 (for a week of groceries). You brighten my day with your humor and pleasant laughter and smiles.
Ok Vivian, sorry, don't be mad at me. I have been taping my face for over 15 years. I found the best tape is made by 3M, it's clear and strong. It's in the bandage area in Wal-Mart. I get the pack of 2. Happy taping. 😊
Put the tape on your elevens just before bedtime, don't use moisturizer in that area. Leave on overnight, and the natural oils in your skin will loosen up the adhesive, enough that it's not so painful to peel it off in the morning. If you do it every night, it kind of trains your muscles to not bunch up so much, and it brings moisture into that area, plumping up the skin. This is an old Hollywood technique for flattening those wrinkles.
I’m not sure what 11’s are but if the tape works I will start trying it! Have a kinda deep on between eyes probably from giving looks of confusion to my boys (young men) decisions in life lol
Hey Vivian I looooove your videos! Here's a hack I learned from my waitressing days for cleaning those hard to reach jugs! When we had to clean out those glass coffee pots with dried on coffee we would put some salt and ice and a tiny bit of water and swirl it around and it cleans it out SO quickly! Free and not bad for the environment!
Omg That whole putting the socks in the water fiasco was hilarious. Watch the video again knowing what will happen in the end and its even funnier. You are awesome Vivian
I remember eating my first TV dinner in the 60s on a TV tray. It was Swanson's and I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I love those foil trays. Use heavy duty foil to cover and freeze. Omg, you are so hilarious, Vivian. Always make me laugh. 🌺🌻
I too remember eating them as a child! The freakin dessert, usually a kind of pudding, would be next to the veggie and you would end up with chocolate mini carrots, peas, and corn! Lol
You are one of my favorites! I don't have a Daiso store in Florida near me, but I love watching you! You are funny, honest & amazing! I love the TV dinner reference! My parents used to give me those dinners whenever we had a babysitter & went out to eat! Love it!❤❤❤ I have lots of things in my pantry! Lol
For cleaning water bottles that you can't reach on the inside use a dab of dish soap, a little baking soda and a crushed up egg shell, add water shake it well! Works great!
He oldest thing we ever found in a pantry was a can of cinnamon in my Mother-in-law's house. It was something she still used, but was about ½ full. It was a priced on the top in a purple inked stamper. For 19 cents. It must have been 40 years old or older. She used it, but it had no flavor, so she used a LOT. A pumpkin pie she made was as brown as dark chocolate, because she wanted to have a spicy pie. It was awful, and felt like she has used sand.
Those socks are perfect to keep in your bowling bag. How many times have you gone bowling, yes it’s still a thing, and you forgot your socks and you have to pay for some in those machines?
The USDA states that canned food will last decades if stored and handled correctly. This was proven in the Viet Nam war. My brother and husband were eating C ration from WW ll The dates on canned foods are NOT expiration dates. The USDA states that 80% of America's food is thrown away yearly because people mistake the dates as expiration dates. I have been a prepper for 50 years and have opened canned food that are 10 years past the dates and were fine and edible.
@@deboraheubanksrafferty They do publish these facts. That is where I got the info. you just have to read through a lot of their reports to find the info., but it is there.
@@taysgram yes! Just make sure to defrost them in the fridge and not in the sink. After they defrost thoroughly, rub the skin down with plain ol’ white vinegar. It keeps the skin from tasting like the plastic it’s wrapped in. Then rinse good and prepare for baking. I always use meat that has been frozen for several years. It’s still good even if covered with freezer burn. I rub my whole chickens down in olive oil and then cover with parchment paper then aluminum foil. At the end of course take both off and let it brown good.
I ate Campbell’s vegetable soup from 2015 yesterday. I had to smell it like Vivian does everything and it was delish! I called my BFF and told her in case they found me dead!
Banquet frozen dinners sent me to the hospital with food poisoning, making your own dinners has to be safer and more nutritious. I really love love watching your reviews!!!
The ice gadget also seems kind of "retro" to me and I like the idea. Blenders, etc. don't always get it right, and something that doesn't need to be plugged in could be used outside in warm weather.
Good for prepping or out in the fresh snow to make snow ice cream before the end of time. Take your takeout food packets of sugar and put inside along with a little piece of chocolate to grind all together
Hey Vivian! I use the sports tape all the time. I don't know about the dollar one, but the regular stuff stays on for days and slowly starts to pull away from the skin. If you go to peel it off just make sure your holding the skin taught. That's your lesson for the day! Love you Girl!!!
Great idea! I always give my local homeless people, a few vets and one elderly gentleman, the washcloths because they can stick them in their pockets so nobody steals them. Thanks, Princess 👸🏻
They found tins of food at Mawson’s hut down in the Antarctic that were still good, as was a fruit cake. He was there around 1910! I’ve lived in my current house for twenty years. I’m fairly confident I don’t have anything I moved with, but I do have baked beans n tinned spaghetti I’ve had for at least ten years! My rule for tinned stuff is if it bulges toss it, otherwise it’s fine.
I have a jar of Vick's Salve that expired in 2011. I don't put it on, but when I have a cold, I like the open the jar and carry it around so I can sniff it every once in a while.
I like the long wristbands because I'm Muslim and I cover. 3/4 sleeves shirts aren't long enough. Daiso used to have long decorative arm sleeves that were perfect, but they don't have them anymore.
Doomsday challenge vid: Prepare a supply bag for 1 week of living for your family to eat, get dressed, sleep, play games etc....🤣👍can't wait to see those supplies🤣🤣
I absolutely love watching your videos if I'm having a bad day and can watch you and laugh like crazy your so cool. I know you gotta be an amazing person to be around
I HATE the feeling of water going down my arms when I wash my face. Like uuuurgh!!!!! 😖😖😖 But now I'm going to sacrifice a sock, and cut it in two. Make my own wrist sock drip catching arm bands. Thanks Vivian/daiso😅
My husband and I just finished up a container of crushed red pepper flakes that we've had since 2014 that we kept in an air tight container. Idk what batch they came from but they were so hot that we had to use 1/4 of the amt usually used and we like spicy foods a lot. I'm kinda sad b/c the next batch isn't going to anything on the previous one.
Instead of the wristbands, try some absorbent scrunchies on your wrists. I keep one for my hair and one for each wrist next to the sink. They work great!
The tape does work to get of rid of wrinkles and works over time by training your muscles not to move. It works but I use the foam bandage tape so it doesn’t hurt when removing.
Nostalgia... tv dinners in the 60s-70s. When Dad was travelling for work, Mom let us kids pick our dinners at the grocery store to eat -- what a treat that was. He would never let us eat them when he was home. 🍗
I keep a pair of hair scrunches on the sink handle in my bathroom. At night, I slip them on to rinse my face off and then I put it on the handle and they dry overnight. I love this hack because it does greatly reduce the amount of water slipping down my arms. I love your reviews Vivian… you always make me smile 😊… I am taking a cruise in October… I wish you could go with me… you would be an awesome vacation buddy!
You can put rice into any bottle and water then shake for same experience. Found you not too long ago. Like starting my morning listening to you bc you’ve got positive vibes and sets my morning up to a good start.
I really wish there was a Japanese Dollar Store here in Atlanta. You keep showing us really cool things from there that I wish I could buy. Maybe they have an online website?? I will have to take a looksee. Those aluminum trays are soooo retro for sure! Back in the day, it was Swanson TV Dinners that used those. Thanks Vivian for the laughs and for making me think about getting my bug out stuff together. All I have are the MRE's my husband bought a while back along with 10,0000 flashlights. Okay, so maybe now *that* many, but my god, he had an obsession with flashlights. LOL!
Vivian, there are these skin adhesive sticker things called "Frownies" that have been around since forever. Truth be told, they do absolutely nothing (unless the adhesive has miraculous properties to increase your skin's ability to produce collagen somehow!)but people have been doing that "tape up my wrinkles" thing since wrinkles began I think. I remember people goofing on "Frownies" back in the 70's. I just looked them up. They still sell them! I hadn't thought about those things for years! They used to advertise them in those old people catalogs like Dr. Leonard's and Carol Wright and Miles Kimball. Don't get me wrong. Some of what they sell is useful stuff for old people. But some of it is really 'out there' if you know what I mean. There are a ton of video ideas lurking in the stuff they sell in those catalogs.
Girl, when my grandfather passed in 2018 and we were cleaning out his closet he had stashed away food canned goods and other items in there. He had a box of graham crackers that expired the year I graduated high school, (1994). My granny was like what the hell, lol So don't be ashamed about the pie filling 🥧.
If you’re going to do TV dinners you have to have either the brownie or the apples because they’re not worth eating if you don’t have one of those waiting for you.
Use those wristbands pulled over elbows after you moisturize them...my elbows are so dry..or you could cut them in smaller sections and have several ponytail holders..
My family went to Bar Harbor, Maine on vacation in August of 1994. My Mother bought a can of Lobster Bisque soup from a little market while we there. May 2021: I went back to Pittsburgh to go to the baby shower for my nephew and his fiancee. (My great-neice was born in July...she is adorable! ❤) My sister pulled me in the kitchen at my parents' house and said, "It's still heeee-ere." and pulled that can of Lobster Bisque from the back of the cabinet. 😆🤢😆🤢😆
I know exactly what the oldest thing in my cabinet is. It’s a jar of beef tips my uncle canned in 2014. It was the last jars he canned and sent me in Colorado. I’m from West Virginia, anyway. I haven’t had the heart to throw it out.
That athletic tape looks like "k tape" (which stands for kinesiology tape). That's the stuff you see on athletes like beach volleyball players and divers. There's some stretch to the tape so when applied with a certain amount of tension it provides support to muscles and joints. I'm wondering if the alleged "temporary cosmetic" use of it needs some tension applied??
"Then he says, 'Where's the mear?'" I literally started laughing out loud. The when you said mofo, I just lost it. My dogs think I'm crazy. Love your videos Vivian!
Today I tossed a chili kit from 2018 - honestly I would have used it but considering all the contents were ROCK solid i decided against it lol. TV dinners now I feel my age haha!!!
