I caught just last night a shalpha Steelix which was my first Shalpha its height is 29'7 your new shiny Onix is taller than my new Shalpha Steelix which is insane to think about.
Ah right, that weird size bug. I knew it was the case for Onix, but I didn't know it impacted a few other mons too. It's weird, but also funny to imagine one of these mons getting zapped with the Alpha juice and SHRINKING instead of getting bigger.
Can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before now haha - and maybe the results of the hunt gave me the reason why… 🤣 One day my giant Onix will get the attention it deserves
@@itsPoachie If i was you I would've checked to see if they were actually bigger before hunting lol. Like hack an alpha and a giant non-alpha just to see in game then delete them.
wow what an absolute dissapointment! What would be cool is if a pokemon would become an alpha AFTER its size is determined and add a percentage increase to the size making EVEN BIGGER alpha pokemon. So that big Onix would become like 45 meters tall instead.
If it makes you feel any better, the Rhyperior will be bigger in SV, I have a max size shiny Gyarados which I experimented with by comparing an alpha, and yeah my max size one from SV was quite a bit bigger
@@itsPoachieyeah, though the difference will probably be a very slight since it’s only a few inches, Gyarados was quite a bit bigger since it was over a 2ft difference
Massive Mass Outbreaks do not have the same odds as regular single Pokémon outbreaks, they are around twice the odds at 1:216 with a perfect Dex entry and the charm.
I swear I remember seeing something when the game released about there being a codeline that ensured that even if a non-alpha was supposed to be bigger, alphas are hard coded to be bigger than all non-alpha. which sucks, bc hunts like this could have been so much fun otherwise! and even if it doesn't look it, you still win in my book~
I'm guessing that the normal Pokémon with larger heights appearing shorter compared to an alpha is down to the coding you mentioned near the beginning. Like those are meant to be the biggest of the big, but it doesn't get affected by if there is a regular pokemon with a height larger than it; so even though your Onix/Steelix was larger than an alpha on paper, the coding of the game refused to show it
My first and only(so far) shalpha was a mistreavus I thought the shiny was in the outbreak and had run somewhere else in the icelands but then I checked the cave and omg there it was It's one of those shinies that has grown to be one of my faves
