You're a teaser! Seriously, thanks for explaining the process. I'm glad it worked out for you. I've always wanted to pick up a classic Mini but my wife... Well, you can probably guess. Several months ago, I found a rare Mini pickup for sale not far from here. I contacted the guy about it and said I'd have to check with my wife. He just laughed. That was the end of that. I'm looking forward to your big reveal. Have fun!
Fantastic story, thanks for sharing. Really like your approach to having a "conversation" while doing background activities. Works well. Anyway, enjoy the new Mini! Looking forward to your driving impressions.
DMV were completely correct. A V5 (or as we brits nickname it, a Logbook) is not a document that proves ownership, the bill of sale does that as the person purchasing it. a V5 in the UK is a document that states who is the registered keeper (not owner) the person who keeps the vehicle and is responsible for its registration, taxes, etc etc, in the UK we do not technically have any specific document that proves ownership, that's where we rely on the original purchase receipt either for NEW purchases, so a receipt from the dealership or if purchasing a used vehicle then the bill of sale....
Hi Nick !!! Today is Saturday, February 5, and We got a new Mini today! We got lucky and our Mini dealership contacted us because they got in a 2014 Mini Cooper Roadster in excellent condition. So we bought it today 😄 now we have a Coupe and a Roadster 😃
Imported my Mini into Ireland from the UK, luckily it was so much easier. Insured it on my Irish insurance, drove it over, filled out some paperwork, a quick inspection and finally paid the VRT (tax) and that's it. Hard to find automatics in Ireland and even harder to find one with some options from factory. If you want a higher spec used car, you have to import it (well that was back when the UK was still in the EU).
It would be kind of cool to have a right hand drive car in Ohio. Fast food drive thrus might be a challenge but I could check your mail without getting out of the car. Think I would want something larger than a mini, and it has to be a manual shift transmission.
I tried doing this back in 2020 but couldn't because of covid, now I'm starting the process again ,mine is slightly different situation as I'm from the uk and emigrating to the u.s.a shipping prices now are at an all time high I'm shipping two classic minis a classic motorcycle and a hoard of tools and parts both vehicles are over 25 years but one is not standard and it seems that's where I may have a problem with non original engine, full roll cage etc. I too am using the same company as you used so we'll see how it goes
It really depends on the car. Shipping and tax prices vary wildly depending on car sale price, car size, destination etc. I wish I could give you a straight answer but there are so many variables. I will say it was less expensive than I would have expected!
HI! I took a Toyota, Tacoma, 1995, to Guatemala, Central America, 8 years ago. I completed the legal process to import to the country. Now, I would like to take back to USA. Any one, would be kind to provide any information on this process? Was registered in California, and after years, was in Nevada. Thank you for any help!
Hi man, I’ve been doing tons of research and it makes my head hurt lol. I’ve been wanting to import a car here from UK. I’m having the same problem as you, where as soon as they find out I’m in the states they ignore me. I wish I could find someone who would be willing to work with me to get the car shipped over.
LOL: so honestly how hard do you think it will be to remember it has a right hand drive? I can see going down the wrong side of the road as a major issue should I be in your shoes....plus shifting with my left hand. Hope you let us "ride along" in real unedited time to see what the transition is like.
Can you explain what CBP forms you needed? And did you need a TWIC permit to access the port in Newark? My Classic Mini arrives this weekend and I want to make sure I have all the required documents. I'm also unsure about port pick up process. Thanks!
Thank u for the video. I’m at the beginning stages of the process I’m thinking of purchasing a car from Sweden. But it originally came from the US in 2017. How did u end up paying for shipping and broker fees?
@@TheMINIVlog did your shipping agent need to obtain that? How did you obtain the original title(V5)? Was it left in the glove compartment? Sent via UPS, FedEx, DHL? Was it sent to your shipping agent first? Who pays for shipping?
You can technically do it yourself but you would need to become a customs broker yourself. So really, you need to hire a customs broker. If you are using Autoshippers like I did, they include the US customs broker with their services!
