I improved my Cube LED and I added WLED to it! - Some cool animations!

Work in progress of my old CubeLED, now it has a new charger base, a general switch (maybe I'll remove it in the next iteration) and now is compatible with WLED firmware. It is awesome project to controlling it in different ways with many animations and the possibility to have usermods for add more hardware.
Coming soon I'll publish all STL files, electronic diagrams of this version. The idea now is add some hardware, like an IMU to improve the Cube orientation and maybe sound.

you could take it further by assigning each panel as segments in wled and show different images and animations on each, and it would look realy cool if it was diffused too!

Thanks for your comment. Yes, is right. I did that. In the Github repo, I shared the WLED config files, and there some animations are using separated panels. Other animations are using the four lateral sides like a single rectangle panel, and the bottom and top has separated animations. You able to play with that easy thanks to WLED, but I also want continue writing my own firmware for a special idea that I have. Greetings :D

I've ordered the parts and have the 3d printed enclosures done. Started on the LED boards and I am horrible with soldering. Glad I ordered 2 extra boards! One I completed destroyed by soldering but I have exactly 1 extra as a working spare. Thank you for your hard work on this @hpsaturn! I can't wait to complete my build and see where you are going forward with this!

Very nice. I got some of the flexible square sheets of ws2812 off ali last year. With the idea of putting them inside a frosted glass cube. After making some lights with the Ikea fado lamp. I couldn't find the right bit of glass at the right price so far to make it worth while to do in any number. But definitely going to use those bits i have and play with this. Good work!

This looks amazing :D i had the same idea a couple of years ago.i glued the panels with little 90deg angle parts together, the top panel got a snap-in piece :D and stuffed a esp32 devboard, 2 18650 li-ions a switch and a usb charging adapter inside. Now as i saw your video i want my to be external charg and switchable as well :D

Thanks for your comment. One question, are you asking for my code in GitHub or for the WLED firmware? In the first case I think that is possible. Let me check it. I have a ESP32 Telegram group for support. (Spanish and English) t.me/esp_es

@@hpsaturn okay let me explain, if install via wled web installer it doesn't display wifi screen and the board is not broadcasting a wifi ap, and if i try your github code it also does not work it says that it is not an esp32 but esp32 s3 ofcourse. this is my first time with this board so i am a bit confused 😂

@@ItzLeo2312 yes, my project needs a little changes to support the ESP32S3, but I can do it, because right now I have a T7S3 working with other mine firmware, CanAir.IO. Let me try some changes, and I will publish it in Github maybe tomorrow or before

@@ItzLeo2312 bad news, I notice that the ESP32S3 only supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE v5.0), and I only have in this project an old implementation using BluetoothSerial (very old implementation v2.0). In others projects I already have BLE, but the migration to my CubeLED project maybe takes more time. Details here: github.com/espressif/arduino-esp32/issues/6882 On the other hand I reviewed and WLED has support for ESP32S3: github.com/Aircoookie/WLED/issues/2735 Let me try to load it on my new ESP32S3 Board..

@chesschamp276 😁well, like I described in the description and link of this project, the current status is "in progress". I wrote a TODO task list there to have the final guide, because right now I have a unfinished cube without the final electronics and setup. Meanwhile that, I want show the advance, for me it is a hobbie, I don't need understand how "make videos" like your mentioned, also is possible that my final video or guide could be not for nobbies, but is possible that maybe help to them in the future.
