I inherited my granparent's old lamp. This is awesome for emergency lighting. The aladdin lamps burn very clean, and really bright once clean and tuned up.

Sorry for your loss. The best part of the lamp is the warm memories you have every time you see it

So cool that your grandparents got a lot of use out of that beautiful lamp. Also great that you are honoring them by investing in it and putting it back into action. I have just recently made the decision to purchase one from lehman's. I called this morning and spoke with a wonderful Amish woman who told me all about it. And I'm very excited! The woman recommended using Aladdin oil. I thought it would be expensive, but it's only about $11 per quart. God bless your grandparents. I just lost my beautiful mother. Losing loved ones is always difficult.

My dad loves these lamps and ive had them since i was a kid. Im 28 now and have a few that I keep running and use to read and study with. Very finicky to get running at full power but always makes me feel at home when one is buring in my room. Hope you get as much use and enjoyment out of yours as I do mine!

Do you do the blue flame warm up? It's like 5 or 10m I forget which. I think 10. Warms the mantle up so it works properly. If it's old. Take apart the burner and Clean the entire thing. I use Ballistol gun cleaner on all mine. Cleans the suit n junk off leaving the patina. Leaves a light oil coat after wiped off. Spray everything and let soak 10m. Use a soft bristle tooth brush. Clean. Wash in hot water. The oil is water soluble. So it'll wash mostly off. Put back and retry. All mine fun full tilt perfectly and I'm cleaned all mine like this before I ever tried then once. All were used and old. I know aladdin can be cranky but I've never er had an issue. Even got a B burner that someone complained about being stiff and maybe ruined. Took it apart and used Ballistol. Was just all grimey and nasty. Smooth n perfect now!

They are truly gorgeous lamps and own a 12 & 23 myself. True the spares such as mantles & wicks are expensive but the joy of running them immeasurable. Drove the grandkids nuts for years with them "It cant be an oil lamp it's too bright!". BTW tip# use a snuffer on the chimney. Don't blow! the mantle will last longer.

I would never have thought about keeping a plastic milk jug with flammable liquid right next to an oil lamp while lighting and burning. Could have been a really cool video. Perhaps next time.

I think of it for you. Kero is pretty stable stuff.

I love my Aladdin lamps also! I have a Model B and 2 Model 6 lamps. One is a table top other is a hanging lamp. Beautiful lamps and put out a TON of light. Just make sure you do the blue flame warm up for 10m before full power. Or 5 I forget lol. You can hurt the mantle if you don't do things right and they aren't cheep! Lol I love mine! My B Model is moonstone with a shade. It's mint condition.

JUST inherited 2 from my husband's mother. Ours says 21C on the wick raiser...best I can tell 1969 and was made in England. My in-laws were Navy and hubby was born in England so I'm thinking they got them while there. They look really good but parts are not so much. So I'm off to research what I need to do to get em in tiptop shape

Nice LampLight dude. Kinda find yourself wanting an outage just to fire it up more often. Needs a shade though.

One way to Kill your wick is to use Red oil or Red Kerosene.... The best fuel to use if you don't have white or clear k1 kerosene is Kleen Heat which you can get at walmart .... you can buy Clear k1 or aka 1k at airports or places where heating oils are sold. red dyes tend to clog up the wick. you can also use a fuel called fire fly ultra pure lamp oil long as its clear

Yeah I’ve used that stuff in bigger heaters but not for these lights. K1 is all I use in these

Try Amish fuel in it... part kero and small part coleman fuel... look for the ratio online... they burn brighter and no cleaning soot off your walls, ceilings and household items...
