This is crazy and so frustrating. I’m the sole provider of a family of 4 and have been aggressively looking for a job going on 6 months. The same size illegal family that crossed the border, who has never paid taxes, receives 3x the benefits I do. What a broken system and corrupt government.

Sadly, they don't know & don't care. A couple women with multiple kids that have lived in The Row in NYC for 7 months (at $400/night for each occupant) were questioned about their experience so far. They said they're treated really well. Their babies are given formula, diapers, clothing, medical care & EVERYTHING they need. 3 hot meals are delivered to their rooms. Their rooms are cleaned & the sheets are changed daily. They have laundry service, childcare & do absolutely NOTHING for themselves. They're given clothing, medical care, transportation, legal services to fight deportation & EVERYTHING they want & need. They haven't learned a single word of English or even thought about getting a job. They also haven't been given a date/deadline to leave & fend for themselves. When asked who they thought paid for it ALL they said, we don't know. When asked if they thought the gov't paid for it ALL they said, we don't know. When told hard working taxpayers of NY & the US are paying for EVERYTHING for them they looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders, made a face like "why would we care?" then continued on with their day of strolling kids around & shopping on our dime. They know NOTHING about our country or form of gov't & couldn't care less. They LOVE their country & are here to live for free off of our hard work while contributing NOTHING in return. My parents first learned english, worked hard, and waited for nearly a decade to get U.S. citizenship to come here legally and work. They now have been here for over 40 years which way longer than they have lived in Mexico where they were born. My mom is really proud to be American now and she displays the American flag everywhere, on the cars and the house, with no shame. So, it frustrates my parents to no end to see people coming from Mexico ILLEGALLY and not even getting arrested for it. Heck, they even get to drive cars without a license. They are given free food, housing, and money paid by the taxpayers while the citizens born and raised here and as well the veterans who served for this nation are forgotten by their own country 😒 My parents are not happy with these new migrants, they are not the same people. The Mexico they knew 40 years ago was different, these new migrants are different and they don't want them bringing crime.

My husband worked at the shelter on Halsted for the catholic charities momentarily since he couldn’t find another job but after less than 3 months he quit! The place is unbearable. This immigrants are different, they didn’t come to work. They came to have the government take care of them financially. Most of them are Rude and entitled!

I was in Chicago March 2023 and there were very few if any migrants, I was just there a few weeks ago and I kid you not on almost every street corner there were migrants asking for money, just hanging out, or trying to sell things. It is a big problem that needs to get under control.

Catholic Charities is all over the country. I applied for help from them, several years ago. After being sent through a long (red tape for weeks) process of submitting my personal information, income, background/ rental history, having interviews, etc, they still did not help me and my children. Fast forward to 2024: Illegal immigrants can force their way into the country with NO documents or US criminal record, and have everything handed to them-no questions asked 😢😡
there was a guy that made a video of himself crossing the darien gap (a jungle that these people cross to get to mexico from south america i think) and the whole trail pretty much had tons of spots with "catholic charities" that were giving supplies to these people like showers bathrooms probably food and water lol sooo screwed up that they practically just pave the road for them here. the video was by a guy named bald and bankrupt and it was crossing the darrien gap highly recommend the watch it was pretty interesting

Well the government is slow in giving them work visas. They should have applied for those or had a sponsor to begin with but that's not the case for majority of them. Right now the courts are super slow because they are not enough immigration judges to see the cases, the courts are backlogged till further notice. I know this since I am an immigration and family law attorney, trust me it's frustrating for everyone around. Congress should have pass the immigration reform yesterday to be honest!!

You know what's a great idea for immigration reform? "Remain in Mexico." Even better, if they were truly seeking asylum, they would go to the nearest safe country, as the law says. There are 20 countries in Latin America to choose from, and as for the Africans, they can choose from 50 countries on their continent alone, instead of crossing the ocean.

This is getting redulious! I'm 45 min outside of Chicago in Indiana. My husband is from Chicago and we have family there. It really is this bad! The poor mothers in Chicago at every town hall meeting speaking out and being ingored! Makes me sooo angery! Americans including myself can barely afford food! I just hope when the time comes to deport people don't get cold feet! I'm sorry but it has to happen. My husband came to Chicago when he was 14 from Poland legally. He had 2 back round checks! Had to have every vaccine. His mom got no help. She did it all by herself. He joined the Marines at 18. He loves thus country and he is pissed about this.
I definitely don’t think this migrant situation is good and it’s sad that a lot of these people have been sold a bill of goods and come for a better future only to be left to live in shelters with no jobs and nothing to do. I don’t think it’s fair to compare Eastern Europeans and immigrants from other parts of the world to Latinos. Latinos have notoriously been hated on and are the poster children for “immigrants” and it’s sad especially considering how many are here now making a mess and creating a bad name for the rest of the Latinos. From what I’ve seen Eastern Europeans have been welcomed here in the states as immigrants with open arms and little to no issues whereas Latinos have to fight for their freedoms here.
@jdee603 alot of them are coming from China, middle east, some from Russia everywhere. There not running any checks to make sure these people are good people. American girls and women are being assaulted because of this. We the Americans are paying for their food, housing, medical bills. I can't even get medical right now. Crime rate has gone up too. No DNA tests anymore at the border to make sure that children who are coming across are with their parents. There are children coming alone. Not requiring any of them to have vaccines, 2 measles outbreaks and one case of tuberculosis already in Chicago at the immigrant facilities. My godparents are from Mexico and elsalvdor. I love them. This doesn't have anything to do with legal immigration. It has everything to do with illegal immigrants and having no prodocals in place.

I live in Chicago, very close to downtown and I sometimes walk by one of the shelters. It’s insane the amount of garbage, rats, within the area. The men just sit around in the streets, drinking alcohol and doing drugs. It’s insane I also know a guy who works specifically shipping migrants from Texas to Chicago.
