I'm 49, I've kept a journal for 30 years... over time it becomes more than a record, it becomes a second brain where you can dump ideas and worries and they seem to get processed in you subconscious when you are away from the journal. I think journaling is one of my better life decisions. It keeps me honest with myself. And grateful as well.
OMG! I didn't expected that video. That's so impressive. I'm doing dairy for last 540 days. And when I reach a psychiatrist, I understood that the diary is the most effective way of psychology wellness for the long term. And I always wanted to make a video about it. And it's also my first inspirational video since I fasting no-Facebook, no-Instagram, and no-RU-vid for a month challenge. You're very great person. And all your efforts on the video is the perfection. Writing down every single thins is make us think the situation as another perspective. I appreciate we have you on RU-vid 🔥🔥
I use Notion for both an habit tracker (a bunch of checkboxes for activities based on what I did during the day) and an actual Diary. It has been really cool both going back to read old entries and the ritual of appreciate what happened during the day and writing that down. Kia ora from New Zealand!
Yeah notion is awesome, even though I don’t journal that much on it, I mainly journal on it if I don’t have time to do it in my leather bound journal, or if I lost my pen
I used to journal when I was younger to help manage stress. I remember my mom gave me one when I was ten and told me just to try it. I also think my first diary was nautical themed as well. However, I do mini mindful meditation sessions throughout the day instead.
I started journaling about 2 month ago almost every single day, diary style. When I didn't took the time some days I felt pressured to write for the current day and the days when I didn't wrote. I experimented with not catching up on blanco days. That lowered the pressure of writing but over time it creates holes in the diary. Even a few words that come to mind about a day is enough. Also, it's an ongoing lessons to write better every day. So far it helped me to structure and formulate my thoughts to better understand them and talk about my thoughts with other persons without it being a random string of words. Thank you Kalle for this video. To you and everyone else: keep it up! You got this :)
I like Derek Sivers's Journaling approach with "Thoughts On." Besides that, I'd recommend doing it digitally. Although I love paper journaling as well. Writing on my laptop has the advantage I can type as fast as I think. At the same time, my handwriting can’t keep up with my thinking speed. There is no slowing down and forgetting ideas or thoughts. On the other hand, I can reformat, re-arrange, add, and delete, which will help my thinking process that wouldn’t happen in my brain. The advantage of pen and paper is that I use different muscles and brain activities when I write, which helps me think differently. I usually use them when I need to outline my blog post, if I’m stuck or distracted on something, or if I go out in nature and only bring my physical journal. Also, when writing journals or other ideas within my second brain, I can start connecting them. Improving my thoughts over time and generally refind easily and read them, whereas, on paper, notebooks get lost over time and finding the right things when needed is very hard.
I've watched a ton of videos related to journaling, but none of them inspired me as much as you did. To be honest, there is no other youtuber whom I can call up who can simply explain any concept like you do. I've been a subscriber of you since 2020, and I enjoyed every single one of the videos you've made. I hope you continue your great work by inspring others to open up to their insecurities and make them grateful about their lives. You've never failed to make an impact in my life, and I hope you come back from your break with much enthusiasm and make more quality videos.
That is fantastic keep up the good work. Journaling is formulative thinking. I find your able to find clarity of thought on subjects your unable to decide on or structing a syllabus for your studies. Journaling is a very useful tool. I don't create videos like you do where you document your coding experiences and share them with the world. I journal for many reasons, but I started originally with journalling to keep a record of my learning progress with programming or learning any new topic. I would go back a couple of months and review where I was at previously and since I kept such good records or accounts of my activity. I came to understand that thanks to journaling I was making progress in a particular study. I would reflect where I three or even six months prior. Keep up the good work and you'll learn even more the importance of journaling.
Very inspiring! Finding your channel is one of the best things to ever happen to me, it motivated me to change careers, join the tech industry and start my own Tech RU-vid channel. Keep up the good work!
I thought about journaling but kept changing my mind. My life at the moment is pretty formulaic. I wake up drink coffee, spend time with my dog for an hour, workout for an hour and a half, go on RU-vid for half an hour, learn an hour of Russian, meditate for 15 minutes, then Swedish, meditate again, do homework for most of the day with breaks and mini meditation sessions in-between, and the same thing again until the end of the week.
I've been using the Daylio app for the past 471 days and counting. I started doing it as a stress reliever and as a means to recall events to my life coach. I like the reminders the app gives, and I'm at a point now to where it will do flashbacks of entries I wrote months ago.
Started journaling when I was 8 years old until now 19 years had passed 😊 And it helps recover memories and choices we made in the past that helps us reflect upon oursleves
A journal is nice to have. But also remember it doesn't have to be a daily task or a long winded explanation of everything that happened that day A few short points accompanied by a point of gratitude or what went well that day is what I try to do. But again I don't do it everyday. Makes me feel restrained or bad if I don't do it one day and feel forced to
There is a book that teaches you how to keep mental diary, and there are chapters about gambling, you would probably find it interesting. Title is Dominic O'Brien, How To Develop A Perfect Memory. Also you can try to make python script that would track opened windows and programs and track how long you are using it, so it would be like digital journal automatized and you can make it app, web app or json file with all data.
I just picked up a note & pen to start this daily journal and I have two bullet points already. The first is about the fact that I watched this video and the second is about a phone call I just received from a friend from high school. Only considering this for a week or two, not 120 days, just to see if I'll get that little added dose of gratitude.
I also use Obsidian, today, crazily enough marked 90 days for me. Obsidian is really good for this because I get to use a template to automatically tag an entry for year and month and section off topics that I wanna cover in an entry
"Remember" may is a confusing word, I would rather say the memories are saved :D I my history teacher asks me about a topic and I need Google to find an answer, Im not remembering :D But enough opinions here, thanks for sharing the interesting challange :)
I think that it would take too long to trace back say 5 years in a journal and could lead to mental health issues maybe? Dwelling on the past. Also, I think that your brain actually does remember everything in the subconscious memory.
it is OK but @Kalle why don't you record as voice the incidents as it is a digital world and that recorded voice will more interesting rather the old days pattern writing on some paper pad. it is my believe. You can try it. thanks. like your vLogs.
