I Just Can't Keep Myself Away From This Grimdark Space Mercenary RPG - Quasimorph 

I'm holding off on playing it since every major updated wipes everything and I find that frustrating... But I can't wait for it to hit full release.

@@UnarmedBastard Ain't that the thrill of it? i mean you literally go loot and prepare yourself to use your best weapon. Hoarding your equipment is so boring but to each their own. I'm just saying you should really play it now if you want to dont deprive yourself

This game gives me the same vibe I got playing Diablo 2 back in 2004

​@UnarmedBastard im waiting for full release as well just because I want to see the full vision and I dont have an issue with lack of great choices on the video game front.

I could see players getting corpo-bucks as part of the rewards though, so on certain locations, or after so much rep grinding they can turn those copro-bucks in for a specific category of rewards unique to that faction (Maybe things derived from your own missions, eg: the tiara he captured might unlock psychic defence helms for that corp). Just an RNG mitigation tool really.

@@littlekong7685 The beta operates that way actually, if you opt in to it. When you pull off successful missions, you accrue favor/bartering points with whatever faction you aided

It makes sense from a game design point of view but it makes no sense from a worldbuilding point of view. Even trying to excuse it, you suppose the existence of currencies which aught to exist in the world, but don't.

Oh if that's the actual design choice that's cool. Needing to actually ready your injury even a little too heal it.

Like 7D2D where a splint or cast reduces healing time, but running (leg) or melee (arms) will lengthen the timer? Nothing like having a broken leg and having to run from a zombie horde. Saw a 30 min heal go up over 20 hours! Big horde, stamina was hosed. NOT PRETTY.

What game is that from, that the more enhanced your soldiers or fighters are the more food they consume, so you have to pick and choose their posotive and negative perks...

The big brain play is a Percy/Blade build with a 10x stack of Sorbent. He's tougher than Izy and Sorbent is free, 40% infection reduction, and stacks to 10x. So let your food run low, go to a stack of corpses with a varangian (or chainsaw, etc.) and fill up on long pork, popping a Sorbent once your infection rate reaches 30-40%.

I would add a few tips here: - Of the starting mercs Isabella is great for budget/ melee runs, since you don't need to worry about infections with her (cannibalism stonks) and she is the best melee combatant out of them; Victoria is a sniper and Percy is a tank. So depending on what problems you run into (low budget/ can't reach enemies or keep missing/ get killed way too fast or by specific damage types you can't find decent armor against) try one of them and equip them accordingly. - Fire is great for clearing enemy groups and early game missions often have flammable barrels, so consider shooting those, closing the door and going in after the fire took down most of the enemies instead of taking on everyone in that room yourself. - Doors are your best friends, enemies only attack with a clear line of sight to a hostile (you or any other hostile faction like quasimorphs), so closing a door forces enemies to walk up to it and open the door - perfect for melee runs, shotguns or just taking down a bigger group of enemies/ better ranged enemies. You can even just block a door via right click and close off a dangerous room that way, preventing unwanted reinforcements or wandering enemies from interfering with your fights/ looting nearby. - The claw knife you get at the start is one of the most reliable anti-human weapons (at least in the early game) if you use it right. It does piercing damage, is a melee weapon (which gives it very high hit chance with Isabella and the Eclipse Blades class) has good damage and precise throw, so you will hit most throws and will kill the enemy pretty reliably with 1 or 2 hits whether it is at a couple steps distance or in melee. In addition it is light, keeping the dodge reduction from weight low and making especially the start of a budget run a lot better. Oh and it is a blade, so you can amputate every corpse and thus get all the human meat you could ever eat or some robo-parts for selling/ crafting if you got lucky with some early blueprints. - For anyone interested in a concrete early game build; my most successful early game runs so far have been with Isabella on Eclipse Blades. For equipment I take: helper backpack for 3 weapon slots, 2 of which are claw knifes and one is either another melee weapon (often varagian axe) or a gun, armor is up to what I got available and since it is a budget run I take no meds, no grenades, no ammo (unless I run a gun that needs it) so the 2 rows of inventory and 2 vest slots are open for loot. During the mission I sneak around unless in combat (for the low food drain and more importantly sensing enemies through walls), eat human meat (running missions around mars, so no quasimorphosis + Isabella can't get infections from it + raw meat does 10 damage but full hunger bar gives health regen for way more than those 10hp), grab a couple pieces of cloth for wounds and prevent ranged enemies from shooting by sneaking up on them/ using doors against them. In combat use either sprint or walking, sprint gives more actions but lower accuracy makes it less reliable - though class also reduces that penalty after running around enough with sprint (level it by running near elevator when you could extract and you got a bunch of food/ meat around). - Also keep in mind explosions and unsilenced gunshots draw nearby enemies to that sound, so exploding a barrel in a room could get wandering guys from a hallway next door to walk in (and potentially getting burned) as well - just like shooting one single guy in a room can net you 2 or 3 more coming over from next door right when you need to reload.

I'm the same way. The ending gives it meaning, your actions have purpose when you feel like you're working towards something. Without it, games feel empty and pointless.

I've sunk more than few hours into STOS, to bad there is no further content... I wish for Deck support for Quasimorphosis

@CyberBeep_kenshi You could misclick on a keyboard too. I get being disappointed it doesnt have kb support but I dont think its a killer either.

@@AaronQ64 it requires some work for sure. i had my clone suddenly trying to walk while being shot at etc. not sure what the best solution is.

I played the buggy Genesis version. Awesome game though, and I still think of it whenever I hear "gauss rifle." edit: Oh, I was thinking of the first game. I never tried the sequel, which I think I'll "ahem" start up the emulator for.

It could be something like Soma, EVE Online or Warframe where only one clone or warframe can be active at a time. There's usually an in-universe explanation to hand wave over the game mechanic. Even IRL, if human cloning technology became economically viable, then rich or powerful people would want to abuse it, so it makes sense there would be some kind of Cloning Prime Directive, working along the lines of what we have for M.A.D. to prevent overuse.

Is it actually a horror game? I watched a four hour stream of it and it just seems like a simulator game with a somewhat eerie atmosphere but also a lot of the signals you inspect seem more like jokes.

@@GoodmansGhostDepends on your tastes of course. If you like things that are slower-paced, more technical/simulator-y, I think it's a GREAT horror game. The random nature and large pool of signals and events means you never know what's coming even after playing quite a bit. And I personally love the pacing, how the game get you used to a routine and then ever so slowly and subtly starts fucking with you. Niche game for sure, but if you like horror, im-sim, and slow-burn atmospheric games it's really worth a try.

You are right though there are some jokes in there, game has a tongue in cheek sense of humor and doesn't take itself too seriously. That doesn't take away from the horror IMO, kind of like the stylistic choices/simplification in Outer Wilds don't take away from that experience at all either.

Then you'd also have to contend with not being able to move until every other player has made their move.

​@GoodmansGhost could address that with a fairly short turn timer. 15-30 seconds, perhaps. Just speculating. Purchased based on this vid, so haven't played yet.
