Thank you very much for putting this into words. You reflect my feelings on the matter exactly. I also pre-ordered the deluxe edition (which I never do! My last pre-order was literally Inquitision) But now I feel like I'm going to have to cancel. This is just a betrayal of the fans. It's just sad man... just sad.
It's what I did as well. I technically wanted it so bad. I had gotten the collector's edition. As well as the collectors addition, that gives you like all like the props and stuff. I actually canceled both of my things because it had nothing to do with the way the characters looked or you know the butt slider or anything like that. Mine was flat out gameplay.The gameplay looks like it's from early 2000s, They pretty much took everything that people loved about dragon age, they removed it all, and then they just called it dragon age to get the money. I also have to say sorry because the graphics from the older dragon ages, they might not be as smooth as this one, but the graphics looked way better. Especially the qunari. But like if you watch this guy's gameplay like when he stabs somebody like his whole arm goes through the bad guy like the collision detection is completely messed up, I don't even think there actually is any pretty much the game _ood_ kind of runs like it's a demo which it is, but I'd be willing to bet that the game _ood_. Your right he did say more than that, the combat system is lazy and it needed polish if it is going to be an action game. That's something I was gonna say too. Asmond Said that? Yes, it has woke agenda stuff in it, but his main complaint was the graphics. He didn't like the collision. Wasn't correct, which it's not. He didn't like that. The graphics don't look that great. What did he say? The game looks like it came out and maybe like early 2000. When I sent a message to him. I said the game _ood_ looks worse than like previous _ood_ dragon age games, and it does. It's a little smoother, like they made the textures look a little smoother, but the gameplay itself sucks like if you watch the Sky playing, you'll see that when he stabs something like his whole arm. Pretty much they took everything dragon aids used to be, they removed it, and then they just slapped the dragon each label on it. The reason people are so upset about it being "woke" is because the games journalists and activist game devs have been antagonizing us for over a decade. Also the ugly characters are annoying. The qunari redesigns are annoying.

The problem isn't the ugly character. The problem is that they totally changed to design and theme of the series. The Qunari look like DnD Tieflings and don't talk/act like themselves. The game doesn't FEEL like Dragon Age. Also, the UI and other gameplay elements look repetitive. Additionally, the choice to make the main character "Rook" instead of a custom character was a HUGE mistake in Dragon Age 2 that they repeated despite getting it right in Dragon Age 3. The devs don't seem to care about making a Dragon Age game and just want to create their own cartoony game and slap the DA name on it for sales, and that is B.S.
I mean main character in Inquisition was known as the Inquisitor and you still made a custom character, same with Veilguard just that your nickname is Rook. Only in DA2 you were forced to create a Human Hawke only.

@@abdo-dr1tu Baldur's Gate 3 and its popularity pretty much disproves the idea that having "gay content" in your game won't sell. Arcane, a popular netflix show, has a gay romance with its central character and it was wildly popular. Woke does not equal broke. Poor quality = broke.
I agree with everything except with Rook, I didn't understand that part. Rook is a custom character. Also, Rook is a nickname given by Varric like Sunshine or Daisy, but Rook has a name given by you. They just call them Rook in the same way they called the others before him/her, Warden, Hawke, Inquisitor.
I hadn't preordered the game yet but I had preordered the collectors edition but I cancelled that after the last round of IGN press material. As a gaymer I cannot believe I am saying this but the shit with the pronouns and the top surgery scars is just too much. I game to escape the noise of the real world and have fun for a few hours. Now they have decided to bring that noise into my favorite passtime, where it doesnt belong, and I just wont support that with my wallet.

People who shrug of the complains about the "woke" contents usually don't understand how subversive it is. They are either incredibly naive or intentionally oblivious. Just give a good reason why surgery scares for breast removal should even make exist in a fantasy world where MAGIC exists. The other part is how uncomfortable building genuine male friendship in games like this has become, because usually you are just one answer away from getting intimate with said person. This makes for awkward and uncomfortable dialogue. Baldurs Gate 3 was very similar. Everyone praises it, but the constant gay flirting was tiresome and made me disengage.
I think the trans thing is overblown, but they could be more generous with the damn glute and bust slider. They shouldn't have marketed the game on being about inclusion and diversity, then proceed to exclude the average woman (average cup size is C) from the damn game.

The most important question for world state is who you f***ed previous game and 2 more, most likely unimportant ones for the story as they will be disregarded due to lack of context or insignificance. Focus on companions which means creation of a dating simulator with injected ideology and depravity of the modern day with priority to signal the f out of it even if it is contraintuitive. Lazy class design because everyone is a mage now, no matter which class you play. I have spent 3k+ hours ingame in DA world alone, + books, comics, YT chanels that cover ideas and theories about the lore. DA games were always woke, more or less and it was never a problem because story never suffered because of it. In some cases i would argue that that aproach even made games better, darker, more realistic, thought provoking. Now, DEI stuff on steroids comes in the first place and lore and game and choices seems to be an afterthought. Pick your pans*xsual partner and after some adventuring, join the rest of your crew in the org*house or the lighthouse as the game calls it. It seems that DAV is holding the last sliver of DA soul in one hand and a d*ldo in another. Some people blame wokeness by itself, others acknowledge its part and role in game deterioration or at least deterioration of the idea what this game could have been after 10 years of developement if woke DEI mentality has not forced itself to be a main caracter. Joplin intended to be a love letter to DA fans (maybe Morrison too) but than, gendermancer come and sent us a d*ck pictures instead. You maybe disagree with that view which is fine. Sentimenth still stays the same no matter if laziness or wokeness caused this game to be seen the way it is atm. But in this day and age i doubt that it is laziness, especially when Biowares future and income of its employees are on the line. The game has potential and might have been fun as a new IP but that is as far as it goes. Shame... The only reason to play it is that this is probably the last DA game we will see.
@@SeventhheavenDK Their skills and class do not corelate enough with player skills so it is not a big deal in that sence. That said, if you get bored with class you are playing, you have to start another playthrough to play with different one. In previous games you could just pick companion with different class from yours (which you built to your taste) when combat gets stale. Now you can only play as a single class- rogue, warrior or mage for the whole playthrough. They silmplified skill set of companions in order to implement friend/rival system with ability restriction and made them imortal in combat so they don't have to heal. If not for the free access of their abilities, combos, party banter and agro on a mob or two, you are playing solo.
Aside of all the other red flags the game clearly has. What they did with the choices feels like a betrayal and a disrespect. But it shouldn't surprise us, this Neo Bioware, this guys don't care about the past games, especially Corrine Busche, he only cares about using an already existing IP to push his ideologies, and he only cares about the resolution of his Solavellan romance. The rest of the team only cares about attracting this non existent "modern audience". Pretty sure most of the team hasn't even played Origins and 2 nor they are interested, that's the true reason they didn't want to bother with past decisions. I am so angry that my Hero of Ferelden's quest to find a cure for the calling was just deleted with the weave of a hand (one would imagine that is important for ALL the Wardens of Thedas). I wanted to see her again and have a good resolution. They made it very clear they don't care for original fans, well, good luck with your modern audience. These devs at Neo Bioware, and the people that only care about Inquisition and their Romance, and those obsessed with the overrated Trespasser DLC are the TRUE tourists.
Is no one gonna talk about how this game looks and feels like it came out 15 year ago. The gameplay of this game is crap. The politics of this game are crap. The storyline is crap. The graphics looks like crap. The environment looks like crap. This game is bland and tasteless like unseasoned chicken.
It's not about what the character creaters have. It's about what was omitted and the reason it was omitted. People are choosing not to support games that are pushing an agenda on them. That's more important than the game right now to alot of people. Don't support games that are not made for you.

When anyone that's on top of the game's industry see something as "woke", as DEI oriented, they see it as a bunch o RED FLAGS. The focus of the game is NOT on gameplay, on story, on what matters, but on representation, on making things for minorities and uglifying the female character because "you can't objectify women and muh-feminism". Everyone that was a fan of dragon age saw it was going to a bad place during inquisition when they complained about the lack of a good looking female romance option, but they were ignored. Then they KNEW the game was going to go very poorly when the last 2 games bioware made were mass effect andromeda and anthem, 2 bad games, especially on the story part. Just learn now that there is a pattern or "go woke, go broke" and that's because woke stuff sucks, not because people hate minorities.
I’m actually extremely disappointed how much homework you haven’t done on peoples reviews. You are FAR from the first person talking about how half assed this game is. I actually can’t believe I sat through this whole thing listening to you navigate through your anger at what’s missing, to ultimately figure out that there was no love put into the game..which is what nearly everyone has been saying! Literally did you just skim and skip through peoples videos because they included the topics of “woke”. Put 2 and 2 together and get it through your head that perhaps..just MAYBE..there’s merit. Maybe quite possibly when the woke topic got brought up, it was about PRIORITIES. The target of thier focus being on current values rather than YOUR values as a lore lover and previous dragon age gamer. Do you get it now? Does it make sense? Do the dots connect? Why does a simple viewer have to do all this work for you when this is YOUR media space of expertise.
I am a right winger and have noticed the same thing with this game. People posting woke garbage trying to destroy the game before it's out and most of it isn't even woke. Are there some woke elements in the game, probably, but enough to where it's an agenda based piece of garbage? I don't think so. But we will see. I have high hopes as a HUGE Dragon Age fan. I read some of the novels and played DAI and DAO multiple times. Loved DAO - one of my fav games ever. I hope this game is good. I won't preorder, but will see how it goes on release. As for the choices, it is annoying, but hopefully the narrative they are giving holds up enough to make that a moot point. We'll see.
The reason I personally had low expectations from the character creator is how much they hyped it up. It showed me that is their priority rather than talking about how it builds on the previous games. Honestly it is getting really annoying seeing all these studios force DEI into their games and most people's takeaway is "bad because gay" or something like that. I am against it because it distracts the development from what actually matters: making a good game. If the game has natural diversity I have no problem with that. If they hire "consultants" who openly admitted to wanting to "burn the gaming industry to the ground" (their own words, not mine) and those consultants are just there to alter the game from what it was going to be then that is a clear display of image coming first and quality coming last and don't get me started on when they start insulting their own Audience.

One thing I would say about this culture war stuff is you may not be interested in it, but it's very clear the companies are and often because of this, it's a very accurate indicator of what is to come because when they focus on the culture and politically correct pandering, everything else ie, gameplay design, good stories overall quality of the game comes second at best. One of the things that pulls me back into Dragon age origins was the clever dialogue and memorable story threaded together by the gameplay. But that all is falling by the wayside in favour of more pandering which is a real shame, the franchise, while not perfect was a wonderfully built world
The bodies of the characters seem to have average human proportions set up as the maximum. Ideal proportions don't exist, so you have to settle for very middle of the road characters. I also don't have any faith that the costumes or armor will be flattering to female bodies. It's all extremely inoffensive to a puritanical level. They've sucked all the fun out of female fantasy characters.

Yes I have been saying so much of this to my buds. RU-vid full of creators just jumping on the hype DEI BS in games but aren't actual fans of the game or series themselves I don't listen to them. I figured the story choices was gonna diminish in importance when they said they weren't gonna use the keep a few months back I just didn't know the existant. I done the exact same thing when it was announced I bought the deluxe edition on Xbox. After seeing everything so far I seen I decided to cancel my order. I thought I could get through this just for the story I was not happy about the female companions first, but yea I could still play it then it keeps going into the rabbit hole. Not very happy with the way they made dragon age into a mass effect garbage dump. I don't play mass effect because of everything I'm seeing in this game.
The lead director made a statement about not wanting to cheese the story arc by adding the content, and/characters. They felt the characters the selection they put in this DA still had or will have a story to be told with it. I agree that is BS and lazy work. What is the point of the web site that lets DA players transfer our personal game story line from origins, DA2, to inquisition then not have all this information, back story, lore go into the last game of DA. So far this game is DOA.
On your point on ugly char in IGN(?) video - they said that creator is great and used this character. You may interpret how you will, but if you're saying something's great and using an ugly picture people will assume that you think that picture is great.
I like Asmon but his critic of this game was stupid to say the least. He has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to action/hack 'n slash gameplay. Not saying the game is good. It's an uninspired Soy of War without any of the style, charm and skill.
I saw someone shoot back at the claim of not being able to make pretty characters by showing off a character they made, claiming it was a beautiful woman and the character still looked ugly and didn't address any of the criticisms of the character creator. They conveniently left out a side shot of the character.
I watch asmon and even if he didnt like the game, i think this is a game is cool after watching other youtubers who took more time reviewing the game, im not pre ordering it since i want to see how the performance is on pc. If it’s good i will most likely buy it after reviews come out.

The creator specifically has limitations used to enforce more ideology, that is a fact. I have played Every DA and Mass Effect game. The graphics of many characters in this game look horrid, specific gender ideology pressed into the gameplay, it is blatant and rampant. If they focused on making the game actually good as hard as they tried to add as much DEI crap it would be the gamer of the decade but they would rather make an alphabet soup statement than a spectacular game. Dude we're watching you play the game. If that's your gameplay. The gameplay looks bad in the beginning. 2 minutes of gameplay on your video. It looks like maybe the game mountain, maybe the early 2000s. Literally, when you watch the gameplay, you have when you hit an opponent like your arms and weapons. Go all the way through them. Like the collision from one thing to another doesn't work, literally like nothing. There's no gore or massive bloodshed in the original games. It was supposed to be almost a scarish, kinda game _ood_. There was a gore and blood and yeah, there was a little bit of that, but you just killed like 5 bad guys in the beginning of the game _ood_. There was no blood all over the floor and nothing like that. Not to mention your body was literally going through the bad guys. Like everything looks kinda not good. No this is Dragon Age 2 and veilguard is a direct downgrade in everyway choices dont matter in veilguard you have mandatory quests for each companions and are mandatory to pick up to do to all the companions quests for "completion" because "Rook" is a mirror for the devs to see their self insert romances and thats just tip of the problems-
When 1 and 2 are darker than veilguard they had more skills more choices and characters actually had purpose and autonomy where in veilguard they lost all autonomy and became inserts without effort and nothing matters in veilguard along with purpose look at the combat 1 and 2 had better combat team synergy veilguard is your just in a dying world where your character doesn't even matter you have no companions you just have people in the background with dont help you-
The azz slider is not that dumb a critique. It's just people making the same conclusion you are but faster and without needing the experience of the previous games. I can make it very simple to understand. The slider is a player choice, but the developers intentionally made it inconsequential, comparatively top scars are a choice, and they were so important that it gets its own toggle (that means company paid more for it). In any other game it would just exist as an option under "scars". Right from the start the devs are advertising the "good" choices while the "bad" choices have negative consequences (waste of time) this is very obviously not compatible with how any Dragon age game has ever operated. They have always been about presenting choices with equal effort and allowing the player to decide what is "good" and "bad" for thenselves. It has always been obvious that the current devs do not hold this value so I'm more shocked that you somehow did not see this coming than I am that the overall narrative is being railroaded.
Honestly, I'm also a little annoyed by the talk about WOKE. 1) I'm one of those people who can turn a blind eye to it. 2) Sweet Jesus, I see a million other much more serious problems. I waited 10 years for this game too, and I'm not just disappointed, I feel like someone spat in my face. Heres the reason why postmodern values in an RPG is bad news. You want stories to be organic and inspired, without compromise, without postmodern fan service. But when you can clearly see postmodern values advertised in the game, the odds are that the story might be being used as a delivery device for those values, that they those values will be hamfisted into what started as an organic and inspired story. It will also spoil the story for those that don't want to be preached to. Its a double whammy of not wanting to be preached to, plus a story full of compromises. Lose/Lose

It was allways an illusion from Origins to second, and from second to Inquisition just now you are older and your immersion is broken. Im not a trump fan at all, and i will not be voting for him. but you are a very reasonable person idc that you are voting for him because i can tell you are not crazy. i understand you're issues with the choices and feeling like its not honoring your game choices from the other games. I hope you change your mind on DAVG because i love your passion.
The culture bit is the most important, it was designed using DEI and they have a checklist, literally. there are things you can do and things you can't, and everything goes through it. its a domino effect and stops you making a game for the masses.
We have only 3 choices because tevinter is north of thedas, and choices about dragon age 1/2/3 will not influence tevinter destiny or north of thedas. It"s logic.
To be fair their right wing bullshit is an attempt to push back on the left wing bullshit that’s in abundance in modern gaming. I’m planning to get the game but I do agree w a lot of the complaints
I wish the right never hijacked the word woke. They never use it correctly. I still excited for the game and I don't need a million choices from the other games to come along. None of us know what's in store until we play. Most of these games are 60+ hours of gameplay and people are having meltdowns over a 20 minute gameplay video and screens from people who may or may not be still under an embargo for more info. I don't care if you got Owen to sober up and make armor in Redcliffe for the night fight lol. I'll save my opinion of the game until the credits roll.

You can be excited about mediocre gameplay and hideous character's but the rest of us don't have to cheer mediocrity simply because they check all the right boxes for you modern audience guys
