Apologies for the sporadic scratching/ creaking sound throughout this video ;-; I think that the wire in my mic was loose. Or maybe the cat was chewing it. Footage credits go to Bioware and IGN
I won't buy the game. I don't like the way the Qunari looks. I don't like the art style. It looks cartoonish. I don't like any companion. I don't like that the game has completely turned into an action game. Some reviewers proudly claim that the combat is similar to the God of War. In my opinion, this is not a flattering comparison. I'll wait for reviews from people I trust.
Why should we care for devs perspective? We are clients, devs should care for our perspective And they are stumpy not because of camera angle, their hair/body proportions are messed up everywhere
Regarding TONE ... take a look at Darkspawn from the Origins or DA2 era vs. those godawful, goofy-faced Mobile game zombie things they are throwing at players in Veilguard. Or that all the different types of Demons from previous games have been been turned into different flavors of neon-colored "veins" with tattered robes. It just feels so streamlined and generic with lame "because the Elven gods are changing everything ..." lore to justify it. I also don't like the fact that every single background in Veilguard paints you as the authority defying, spur-of-the-moment hero that drops everything to rescue some dudes. Once again, very same-y, very friction-less. Maybe it's just the marketing, or maybe me being a jaded, grumpy old fart whose Bioware days are gone for good, but it does actually resemble more of a dress-up doll & romance simulator, than the gritty RPG masterpiece that I fell in love with 15 years ago.
You showed the character creator looking terrible while talking about how good it looks haha, literally while having quanari giga chad on screen haha. Sorry but this sounds like a schill video, you're happy about less options in character creator (don't lie from everything they've shown there's less), less options in combat and less choices in dialogue yeah doesn't sound like you actually play games. If they actually listened to fans they would make the character models look realistic instead of big head cartoons, at least some of the companion characters would look cool instead of all looking dorky, dialogue options would be written in full and choices driven story would be the main focus.
This gameplay is NOT fun... I don't want to run and jump all around while playing a mage or anything else... They had a somewhat good combo with DA2... they ruined it after...
@@banjomir519 how about having an opinion based on what they released for that exact purpose ? Action oriented... Yeah sure, seems as fun as soul like and sure enough there are players that would enjoy... But I doubt it is the fan of DA... So once again, yeah, I don't find this type of gameplay being particularly fun... And I am pretty sure to not be alone on this... Then again it is "my" opinion... And I am in no position to make people agreed with me... Same as the opposite
It seems better than inquisition's "horn-helicoper-invuln-repeat" or "shield - spirit sword spam" tbh, and closer to mass effect. DA2 was too MMO like for my taste.
The game looks fun gameplay wise and i like that it continues Inquisition's story. I just sadly feel the new companions all look so bland compared to past games. None of them match Morrigan or even Cassandra in appealing character design, or Varrick in personality.
After loads of youtubers i trust played the first 7 hours, and gave their feedback (positive and critical) thats enough for me. I preordered the game for the blood armor skins (since i would buy it day1 anyway). I know there's a lot of "outrage" around this game. It seems crazy to me. It's just a game. Artists can make what they want. Buy it if you like it. Walk on if you dont. Bioware arent trying to "gender politic" your kids. The game is for adults. Dragon age is always perverse, with gratuitous gore and intercourse (not always with consent). If kids get their hands on it, thats on their parents.
I think people wish that if you want to make some fantasy game that strongly reflects your ideology then you go out and do that. Not take an established IP and CHANGE IT after they've already grown to love it. This is like somebody buying the 'Barbie' IP and having Uwe Boll or Michael Bay make the sequels and then saying to all the girls out there, "If you don't like it, don't watch it."
They have what looks to be 3 gender types (lol) in that character screen and yet you can’t make a female with Booty Full proportions because the slider won’t go above a B cup? So yeah~ Bioware IS trying to change the accepted body shapes of human anatomy and is definitely not being ‘inclusive’ to women of larger Booty and boobage like black or Latin women? They pulled this nasty trick in Mass Effect Andromeda when Bioware launched the game with NO white color choice on the character slider. So evidence tends to disagree with you?
@@PaulusAlone there was never not a white slider option. I stupidly preordered so I know. Is it seriously that big of a problem that you can't sexualize your character hard enough? BG3 had less options and was still a raging success. Don't play it, that's fine, but don't sit here and act like you have some noble intent in it.
@@justinsaraguard5130 - The devs added a patch after launch of Mass Effect Andromeda to fix the “limits to the tone range” as they put it! I tried it myself but I got bored and found it a chore to play. As far as me wanting sexualized options then yeah, if I can stick a stupid bulge on my male characters crotch and stupid after surgery scars on my chest then I DO expect to be able to stick at least average size breasts and butt on my avatar that simulates real females chest size because that’s well within normal range of women and not to be stuck as a flat femboy archetype that the game seems determined to cater to? I totally agree that Baldurs Gate 3 got it right because it catered to EVERYONE and didn’t try to corral the players into their preferred body or gender types. Make it work for EVERYONE and it’s fine. Play preferences and it’s no different to the old stereotypes of male patriarchal society and all that modern day political rubbish everyone argues over. I’m not claiming anything noble but I do want true equality of character choice in the character sliders and I loved Dragons Age Inquisition so it’s not a problem with any of the gender or romance choices. Dragon Age: Veilguard is trying to act like it’s inclusive but is actually not letting you truly play as anyone or anything but THEIR chosen avatar archetype and that is just economically idiotic when you need to appeal to the mass market to sell your game. This could all be fixed with a simple slider patch just like in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Likewise with the stupid big heads and big jaws because they are all options that are fixable without changing too much game code. But if they want it to appeal to a certain group only then they can happily go ahead and test their preferences on the open market…where it will fail. Because the customer IS always right!
In a non-realistic style, most game art frankly, should be shooting for 8 heads tall. Anything else looks adolescent. The cartoony style is clashing badly against the body realism. They should have followed artistic conventions and made the bodies more exaggerated in the ways that hero characters ought to be.
The combat is beyond boring, why have companions at all if you can't control them? How is this game still an rpg? The interface is a mess of bright lights and colours and the art direction...simply apalling. I see no reason to play this game, like, at all. Maybe the actors did a good va job and the writers too, but at that point the game is sustained by everything that isn't core to a videogame, make it a tv show instead.
I think you missed addressing a lot of the criticism I’ve seen in other videos. My biggest gripe is that all the companions can be romanced by character regardless of your character creator choices. It removes the core identity of the companions. Makes no sense
I hope there are other characters to romance, as I find the companions entirely unappealing. Maybe Lucanis, but I'm a straight dude, so I'm going to have a moment of weakness and then cry in the shower afterward.
I really hate how many people seem to think that that people's sexuality is their "core identity", or that them not being restricted in what gender they like to romance means they have no personality. Are pansexual people just shapeless blobs to you? People still have opinions, emotions and preferences no matter what squishy bits they like or don't like to interact with.
Origins definitely started dark and heavy, especially certain background like City Elf and then after that its Ostagar, Darkspawn, Grey Warden ritual, the battle... It's bleak. That said I don't mind that each DA has it's own feel aslong as the companions are sincere and well written I'm good mostly
I personally love that developers did their own graphic style, which is growing on me every time I see any video of it. If they did realistic unreal 5 engine graphics it would not be any special… show me a screenshot of any modern realistic game and I won’t have a clue what game it is, since all look so similar.
This style isnt special either, tho. Its stylized graphics, which are also being used in games like Fortnite, Overwatch, WoW, LoL, Sims 4 and many other games. Its not unique at all. And since DA is meant to be a mature dark fantasy game, more realistic graphics would've been better. I'm pretty sure they chose these graphics because the game was meant to be an online multiplayer at first. That was the same reason why Sims 4 had also those stylized graphics. Because it was also meant as a live service game at first. And life service games work better with stylized graphics, because those are timeless and dont age as badly as realistic graphics.
There are a lot of people who hate on both Dragon Age 2, Inquisition and Veilguard for having gay romances. Well Dragon Age Origins had gay romances such with characters like Leliana and Zevran. And besides BioWare is a Canadian gaming company and their country has always been supporting gay relationships since 2005. There are also a lot of people who hate this game just for having action combat instead of the tactical gameplay that Origins had. Well, BioWare is trying to market Dragon Age to a wider audience instead of a small audience who enjoy the same thing over and over again in their games. Sometimes a gaming franchise has to change some things in terms of gameplay in order to market itself to a new audience. If Dragon Age kept the same combat system that Origins had, then the series would have fallen into irrelevancy. Sometimes change is good. As for the character creation, it has a lot more options than the previous games as well as Baldur’s Gate 3 in terms of hairstyles, tattoos and costume designs. Veilguard has a lot to offer in terms of customization.
I pre-ordered already after seeing all the videos it looks good to me... all the complaints are pretty much the same "I want to make bigger boobs and butts" and "I want really frightening looking Qunari" ...so yeah no real game killer for me yet... I am just hoping for a glitch free launch.
Fair if you like what you see, but that is not nearly all of the complaints, most complaints are about the gameplay changes like how you can't control other characters and the limited amount of active skills and dialog choices, the bloated and intrusive UI, unappealing/not that interesting characters, body proportions that make the characters stumpy looking, and yes about how they made the Qunari look which is so disappointing. There are also some complaints about the lore inconsistencies.
6:05 you forgot to show top surgery scars - I can already imagine how destructive this will be on any kid that will play this game. We can expect people to leave this world in their 20 due to sex transitions :) Also style and 'feeling' of this game is just so wrong - dragon age was a dark fantasy, not an mobile game high fantasy or fortnite mod. Complete disaster with Lgbtqwerty stuff that feels like it's there just to be there, without any reason. Shame.
This game isn't for kids though. It's rated 18 here. I understand parents will let kids have it, but it's on the parents then to check the content of the game. There is also graphic gore and intercourse in this one.
@@RandomWandrer Like in most games - but they don't promote sex change scars and other stuff that might and probably will ruin some young minds. I still remember 2018 game awards trailer (solas one) and compared to this.. what happened? Like literally, they just converted whole dark fantasy universe with an epic end of the world to fortnite like game with ton of lqbtqwerty stuff. Just why.
BioWare didn’t develop the hair software in the character screen but got it off the shelf from the FIFA series. The big heads are about twice the size of normal heads and that’s why their bodies look “stumpy.” Someone fixed it on Reddit and once seen it cannot be unseen! “HEED. MOVE. NOW!Look at the size of that boys head! It’s like an orange on a toothpick!” - From Mike Myers film ‘So I Married An Axe Murderer.’😆 PS. I played all the previous Dragon Age games and loved them all, different as they were, but I spent the most time in Inquisition (not just the Hinterlands) and loved the art style of Inquisition the most because that Frostbite engine WAS beautiful, if troublesome. Anyways ~ I’m waiting for the full review of Veilguard because all the RU-vidrs that went to that BioWare preview seem uniformly positive to a suspicious level? That either means this a classic in the making OR that a desperate EA and BioWare rolled out the courtesy and fluffed them all like superstars? Because this IS BioWares last chance saloon to get it right…🫣
