Filming from my new apartment, woohoo! So here is how my story in New York begins :) I am a newcomer here, who had just moved a month ago. I came here for a specific reason of pursuing Master of Architecture at Columbia University GSAPP, and in this video i talk about my initial reaction, apartment hunt, and bicoastal living. I love LA and miss LA, but I am going to enjoy NYC every day while I am here. I also share briefly that I am an international student here, if you have any questions related to that.

My name is Polina, and I am a native Russian who lives in Los Angeles. I have two callings in life - architecture/design & learning and teaching holistic well-being approach. Such an exciting change for you. It's good you're experiencing this all now. Great idea to take 1 day off per week, so makes sense you had to work Saturday to get everything done, sounds like you have a lot on your plate.

Congrats on the move and on starting your program, how exciting! I totally agree with you that New York is amazing but is too fast paced. I'd be an LA girl over a New York girl too. Glad you found an apartment and are settling in!

The university is magnificent building I love the columns at the front. I understand about wanting to enjoy each day and the days definately are too fast paced I bet L.A. is amazing I hope to visit one day anyway take care x

Congratulations on the big move and pursuit of your masters, sounds intense!!!! Holy smokes, only 1 day off? It IS intense lol! Very fascinating, I've never known an actual architect before! I am a small town girl so New York just doesn't appeal to me but good luck in your studies and future between New York and LA!

Hi there! Great vid, and I hope you've been adjusting well to the pace of NY. I'll be applying to GSAPP this coming fall too and I wonder if GSAPP gave you any financial grants apart from your advanced standing? Anyway congrats again!

Hi vefge! sorry for such a delayed response but for me, advanced standing was the only thing i got so far! I ma sure Columbia gives grants though, and there are so many scholarship opportunities & fellowhip opportunities. Advanced Standing is really good too because it basically saves you 1 year of your time and around 70,000 dollars

Hi, thank you 🥳 are you applying this year? My rent is 3700$ and i signed a lease for 20 months (the duration of my stay at Columbia), but of course there are plenty of cheaper and more expensive options in nyc as well✌🏻

Hey Polya so what are the pros and cons between living in Russia and USA? Wow you are amazing doing your architecture and psychology your parents must be so flipping proud of You! 😁 the apartment looks really nice and cosy I like the rock lamp next to the bed that's interesting

Здравствуйте! Можете подсказать родмап для поступление в университет на архитектор мастер дегри, можно ли подавать на мастера если бакалавр был по другой специальности?

Сымбат, привет) да, можно! советую подавать на Master of Architecture, там можно подавать с любого бэкграунда, непринципиально. У меня есть друзья, которые и историю изучали, и психологию, и искусство до поступления на Мастера Архитектуры. Главное соберите портфолио, где покажете, что вы на данный момент можете (туда можно и эссе включить, и вообще что хочется). Удачи!

Hello, great video ! Experiencing living in both LA and NY must be amazing, I wanted to ask if you think that I could get into GSAPP master of architecture with a 3 years bachelor degree in architecture in the UK ?

Hi Dauphin! Yes I think you can, you can definitely get into 3 year Master of Architecture program (we have people in this program who never even did architecture before), but I’m not sure if you can do AAD (its a 1 year program) because it is a post-professional degree. Best of luck☺️☺️

@@sardoreshkuvatov1885 yes some of it will be covered! But overall you need an accredited degree, few years of experience and passing 6 exams to get licensed
