I gotta be honest, I don't get the all out love for this episode. It's not bad, especially compared to the end, but for whatever reason I just don't find it all that great either. To each their own though!
Seeing sansa suffer relentlessly for almost half her life at this point, it was nice to see her get a glimmer of hope after she found out her brothers are still alive. Hope is a strong motivater to stay strong.
"Oh my sweet summer child what do you know about fear? Fear is for the winter when the snows fall a hundred feet deep and the ice wind comes howling out of the north. Fear is for the long night, when the sun hides its face for years at a time, and little children are born and live and die all in darkness...." 🥶 What the second half of five does best is portraying that feeling of airtight hopelesness. It's demoralizing but addictive at the same time. Hardhome is nuts.
Hardhome is one of my all time favs. For the ambience alone if nothing else, and the slow anxiety it induces. That dark and desolate snowy panorama throughout the evacuation feel very despairing. The surrounding feels very "Othery", pun intended. As I said last time Winterfell and beyond the wall feels like a dystopian fairy tale inverted on its head right now, mesmerizing in its eerie silence.
This is the first battle directed by Miguel Sapochnick (not sure if spelled correctly). He did all of the other battles after that and they were amazing. Husband and I recently watched all of the battles only, and you can definitely tell when he took over. Hardhome was fabulous.
When Jon holds Longclaw in the air and yells "Night's Watch With Me!" as the handful of Brothers in Black run to the other direction of the retreating wildlings clad in gray; that freeze frame moment leading up to the Valyrian Steel revelation; and the ending with the Night King slowly walking through that creeking plank. Those are the three shots I live for. The cinematography is very emotive and ominous. This one's up there with the top episodes.
13:57 never related to a clip more in my life lmaoooo This is one of my all time favorite episodes. Tyrion and Dany finally talk, theon tells sansa the truth about Bran and Rickon and Jon has one of the most badass scenes in all of thrones
The giant's name, Wun Wun is an homage to George R. R. Martin's favorite New York Giants QB from the 1980's, Phil Simms. Simms wore number 11 or "wun wun"
Karsi had to be instantly likeable, since she was going to die. But the actress really pulled it off. She also enjoyed all the fighting sequences; she hadn't done that kind of role before.
@@d3l3tes00n Yes, they wanted her to be a mother and to freeze when she saw the child zombies--because of course a mother can't separate child zombies from living children. /s I mean, if they were her own children, it would be somewhat reasonable.
loved the reaction to this episode! There are two things I'd like to clarify for you: 1. The "Zombies", called Wights here, aren't White Walkers. White Walkers are those icy looking whole other living form 2. the faceless men are assassins. The dude Arya has to look for is her "job"
The dynamic between Dany and Tyrion here, the talk they have about their fathers, Varys, the two families' intertwined past, the ruling elite and breaking the wheel, all of it is very engaging. The walkers appearing on top of that foggy hill like the four horsemen of apocalpyse >>>
Maya: “If Jon dies I am not watching this show anymore. Future Maya: “Who’s going to tell her?” Lol. Please keep watching the show. We still have Arya, Sansa, Bran and Rickon (a.k.a. The forgotten Stark.)
Juan Nieve takes out sword ⟨Miya lowkey turned on⟩ Lmaoooo the subtitles had me crine 😂 "I'm not gonna cry. not gonna cry"....lmao the look in your eyes 👀 when Jons Valyrian Steel sword connect but don't break is why I love watching reaction videos 😂😂
I forgot how good this episode is. I only ever think of the battle at Hardhome when I think of it, but Dany and Tyrion's interaction, Sansa finding out her baby brothers are still alive, even that glimpse of Cersei in abject misery - **chef's kiss**. Miguel Sapochnick is a stellar director.
Yo im so glad I came across your channel, I used to love game of thrones and watching your reactions and everything had breathed a new life into what was one of my favorite shows
The battle sequence at Hardhome took a full 15 days to film, and involved about 400 extras and 50 stuntmen. Ultimately about 220 extras were used: after training the original set in fighting moves, the producers then held "tryouts" by having them mock fight each other, then picked who they felt were the best ones.
I love how it took 48 episodes to show exactly why the white walkers and the army of the dead are so feared. They simply overrun everything and not only can't be beaten but they add the dead to their army. It's amazing that no one saw this episode coming and no leaks came out that this was being filmed.
This episode is one of the bests of the show. and that was even more impressive because literally it caught everyone by surprise 'cause this doesn't happened in the books, we only heard of what happened in Hardhome. About Arya, you are right, she is learning how to lie properly because if she truly wants to become a faceless man (or woman), she will have to pretend to be someone else (or just be) so she has to lie like a fucking politician. And explaining what her quest is, the House of Black and White is a temple, but you can also contract assassins. The men she is suppose to poison, is not really good or bad, it doesn't matter, someone wants him killed, and contracted a faceless assassin for it. Since he is not really a threat, the "Kindly Man", transferred that task to her, as a test. I sad "Kindly Man" and not Jaqen 'cause in order to become a faceless men, you have to be no one. So no one there has a real identity and no name. Arya just calls them in her head by some nicknames. Jaqen H'ghar was the name that person back in season 2 gave to her, but you can't be sure if it's his real name, 'cause like i sad, they are no one. It was just a character they were playing. The "Kindly Man" she is interacting right now, may not even be the same person, it could be just another "no one" playing the role of Jaqen, you know?
Unfortunately, they had to change the actor for the Night King in season 6. It doesn't make a huge difference because they are covered in prosthetics, however the actor in this season really had this death stare that you can see he perfected in those final shots.
OMG! I never put two and two together regarding Lara. Good eye and memory! And I love your reaction towards Cersei lol she deserves all of it. Like Tywin said, she's not as smart as she thinks she is.
The dull, colorless fatalism of hardhome is straight up unnerving. The "shield that guards the realms of men" finally comes face to face with Death itself. What an excellent episode!
One of the best episodes of the series and probably my favorite battle in the whole show. Jon is so badass, his storyline this season was great. Also, you're cat is so cute 🧡
This is basically a life insurance salesman. Insurance is a bet, but you're betting something bad will happen to you, and the insurance company is betting it won't. But you want to lose your bet, because you don't want the bad thing to happen with you. This is explained in "Double Indemnity," a movie you might want to react to sometime.
This episode was critically acclaimed and I absolutely love it because I love the gloom & doom undertone of the battle, Sapochnick's direction is very different from the previous battles. Episodes like Hardhome is why this season won an unprecedented number of Emmys and reaching peak viewership, it's why I love 5 despite the next two episodes that many seem to have a huge problem with. "Wicked Games" is the perfect theme for this season. No season with an episode like Hardhome in it should be considered a net negative in any logical way, even though they deviated from super important things like Ramsay and Jeyne Poole lmao.
The zombies in Game of Thrones are different. They do not eat people, they only want to kill. So that if someone died as a warrior and come back as a zombie, he's gonna use the weapons he had when he died to kill. And you do not become a zombie if you die or get bitten. It's just that the main White Walker guy that can bring people from the dead. Also obviously he seems to be able to can create cold winds. The Wildling lady in this episode was a pretty good character for the little we saw of her. Believe it or not she played the wife of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau(Jaime Lannister) in a movie from Denmark movie, which is where they come from.
I find it utterly disturbing how people just dismiss the fact that Theon burned two boys alive just because they weren’t Bran and Rickon like their lives don’t count. It is disturbing.
Yeah he definitely deserved to be hanged or beheaded for murder but slowly torturing him over a long period is what makes you feel bad for him. Also in the books those boys were hinted at being his bastards so he is cursed as a kin slayer.
@@samus5094 Yes, they deserved to live as much as the rich boys/main character family's sons. Still not on board with all the torture Theon goes through, though.
Hannah Waddington, the actress who plays the "confess-confess-confess" septa menacing Cersei, has gone on to play Rebecca on "Ted Lasso," a show I have not watched but is pretty popular.
Arya is pretty much in training to become no one and that means become someone with so many stories that you aren’t even you, like you said learn to lie as well so well that everything you say is a lie that also weaves with the truth, learn how to analyze people characteristics and antics, psycho analyze so well that you know everyone like they’re you yourself. it’s lowkey confusing but also not once you grasp the idea. Dannyyyy, sometimes just watch her words closely shes powerful, but I like to watch her ambition and her decisions. Fun fact the white who Jon faught plays the night king in the next seasons 😊 The girl you liked.... same, I was like this could be a cool character ...... ugh I need to stop liking characters cause they all DIEEEEE Lowkey the night king as a villain 🔥 he’s so regal in such a weird way. he’s so cool when I was watching at this point I was like “if he loses I lowkey hope he survives or like gets captured forever somehow” lol Jon and his eye contact - YES YES YES I love it You being scared for Jon tho same. My thoughts were he’s one of those honorable characters that would probably die due to some honorable dumb thing
this is one of the best GoT episodes and has always been recognized as such. it's okay that you loved it lmao, just like you said you loved the last one. you dont have to be hesitant because of what comments tell you later lol. hardhome is better than the best episode of most shows. don't let the purist stannis dikkriding get you twisted.
How 🔥 is this episode. The build to it and the final explosion both is 🔥. and this is pretty much everyone's reaction when watching thr first time. Haters ain't got shit on this
Excellent episode !!! keeps you on your toes the whole time, s5 and 6 have most of my favorite episodes and scenes, you're gonna love it ! Don't you think about the beginning of the show sometimes and wonder, wow how did we even get here i would NEVER imagine because that used to happen to me all the time lol
Awww I’ma cat mama too my baby’s name is Kittenbutt 😻 I want an all black cat cause she’s every color but black 😩😻🥰 Hardhome is a classic episode! Can’t wait for you to finish the season!! I’m patiently waiting for episode 9 & 10 they are my favs of the season! Love watching Cersei suffer!! Edit: yea Ser Jorah should’ve told Daenerys as soon he saw her step outta that fire that he was a spy for Varys but will now be truly loyal to her.
Yes to two of your questions- night walkers come with the storm and Valyrian steel is one of the few things that kills them, along with dragon glass and fire!
It would have obviously been a very different mission. But you can see why the people north of the wall had to be dealt with one way or another. Not knowing jon the way we do. They are smart to be suspicious. Since traveling up there to slit their throat. Would be a good strategic maneuver. Assuming they burnt the corpses afterwards.
Hey i have about four videos ready to go just gotta final edit then make sure they won’t get copyrighted, also holiday season just has me a little busy
Hello, I'm french, so, apologize for my english. I'm a huge fan of GOT and i discovered your channel since few days and i love the way of you reacts. I can't wait you next reacts and please, please, follow the show until the end....Kisses, and take care.
He couldn't fit on the canoes , the canoes just row them to the big ships because the big ships have to stay out in deep water to be able to sail away. So he walked to one of the ships everyone was rowing to.
As much as I didn't like Cersie this season I hated the High Sparrow and his minions more. 23:59 and 24:24 the White walker could've easily killed around instead of throwing him.... But hey I'm glad he didn't 28:06 And that scene when he raised his hand I thought he was saying like You can't defeat me.... When I realized he was raising the dead I was speechless
The baby!!! Like yes obviously episode, reaction, all good things, I'm excited to watch this vid, but! The baby! Shadow is so precious *heart eyes* Okay, I'm actually gonna watch the vid now lol
