When I was in high school, my friends and I would ride our bikes to the Metal Mulisha warehouse off Jefferson street and ask for free stickers for our helmets and bikes. Several times Deegan was there with Twitch and others, they let us come behind the front entry and see the warehouse, gave us stickers, they couldn’t have been any cooler human beings.
@@keithtarrier4558 it really was special. They knew us teenagers didn’t have any money but they treated us like we had a million bucks. Them being so cool is why I asked my parents for MM stuff for Christmas. They weren’t just smart business men.. they were awesome people!
The General is a solid dude. Raising his children to work hard and be respectful. He knows what it’s like to have to scratch and claw to make it in life. Big ups to all the Deegan’s
Listening to this is chilling... the era of the 80's kx mini bikes... What a rad time...my brother and I' got new yz 125's for christmas in the winter of 88'. My dad got the bikes for us new for $1850 each. Red and White yz's.. what a time being a teenager in the 80's... I got lucky and ended up getting a job in the action sports industry in 1994.. epic times... love this interview #kranikbrand
I could literally watch these 2 talk all day long. For this 50 something old school OG moto guy, this is literally a walk down my own memory lane... as well as so many of you. 👊🏻
I am so happy to see the family and life Brian has built over the years. From a basically failed SX racer to multimillionaire with his kid now the hottest young talent on the scene is pretty cool. Brian didn't have the career racing that he wanted, but he has the life that he wouldn't trade anyone for. He has ear Ed everything that he has now. Him and Marissa deserve so much credit. Very few relationships survive what they have. Congrats to both. They are inspirational
He became a multimillionaire off of the back of the people that called him a friend. Then fucked then all out of the money and turned tail and ran. Go as Jeremy and Seth how awesome of a guy he is.
@scottb9868 Twitch is doing well for himself. Seth I'm not as sure of. He seems ok, but was he ever going to excell at anything? In business, there is always friendships destroyed and supposed promises broken. Look at Conor McGregor and Artem Lobov for example. It's just what happens. If any of the others could have done the exact same things Brian did knowing they would get so rich, they to would have done the same.
I remember watching Crusty’s as a kid in the mid 90’s and seeing Deegan partying with Metz in Canyon Lake. Loved the OG’s Flynn Hawaiian, Tom Cat, Mad Mike, Cinq, twitch and Fiasst
Also I used to see MM guys around town all the time, I’ll never forget one time we would ride bikes to the Murrieta movie theater and they all walked out and Carey Hart was there with Pink! And they still gave us stickers!
Great interview Donn! I remember seeing Brian and the baggy pants freestyle guys trying to distinguish themselves from the racers. 90’s Moto was incredible! You and I raced the same class for a few years. Best time of my life! I’m looking forward to the 2nd part of the interview.
Thanks for the looking back on the Memories Brian and I will never forget those days and memories and Thanks for sharing this video #SwapmotoLive #BrianDeegan
I remember to this day the first video Crusty Demons of Dirt... I can't wait for the Supercross season this year it's going to be insane. I can't wait to see what Hayden's going to do
I wonder if the AMA told O’Neal to give you a gear deal before LA just so you couldn’t wear baggy gear that promoted the fmx stuff. Wouldn’t surprise me if they did something like that
My Dread Lock Rasta Neighbor turned us onto Nirtrous Circus in the early days & we were all glued to the TV. Suicidal Tendency Fans here too we saw them here at The Stoned Pony. We drank 10 times more back then he is half Mick & half Jamaican. One drunk early morning he gave us the pork lecture so I put him on the spot. I said 7am your drinking Bud Lime & smoking a Newport giving us healthy food lectures.... He quit both cold turkey that second got his licence back & works ever since. He thanked me by not killing me cuz he's big and martial arts up.
I almost bought a 2 stroke, still debating it. Rather have the 4 stroke but it's not affordable. I had a four stroker upgraded it and added another stroke. But I got famous and crazy people took over my life. Spent 8 years drugged. Went my whole life drug free and now I'm a cliche. Some famous guy that lost a decade to heavy drug use. Laced hotdogs. Got famous and woke up with new daddies in my life. You know the type " Dream crushers" . Drugged, poisoned and practically dead. Got so drugged I'm pretty sure I flat lines a few times. Anyways, while my eyes were slowly rolling into the back side of my head they started breaking everything, the whole "grow up" skit. My daddies. A renter, and these maniacs turned into daddies . Welp, it's all gone, and I'm homeless. Don't have anything but the essentials in life minus my health. Really hope my daddies are happy for me and that I've made them proud with my adult life.
I used to ride dirt bikes than people strated sabotaging me after I got famous on the internwt. All my "friends" and "family" knew. Everybody knew. Started getting drugged and sabotaged . forks falling off, people would show up and bend my handle bars (still do with my bicycle) . Engine cutting out half way up a lip. Real miserable pricks. Haven't been riding in over 8 years now. Now I'm homeless and don't even have a bike, still can barely walk from all the druggings, mission accomplished. Just can't be normal with all this fame
Yeah I didn’t know that at all until now and I’ve heard him tell the story quite a few times. Idk how I never heard that part before, I would have to assume he had talked about it anytime he told the story. But yeah that’s just wild. Once that adrenaline starts pumping you feel no pain. I bet he was hurting a couple hours later though 🤣
😂Just watch Haidens races. Dad is still in every single interview he can get himself into. Maybe time to let his son live his own life, and create his own path, at this point.
You’re kidding , right? He’s never in any of Haidens interviews. Wtf are you even talking about? Even the team manager for Star even said how he was kinda against them bringing on Haiden when he found out because he thought Brian would be all up in everything but he actually isn’t and let’s the team do their thing while he steps back unless they involve him. Obviously he’s still a dad and Haiden is still not even an adult yet so yeah, he’s still around just like every parent would be. Hell, the Lawrence bros dad is always there after every race just like Brian but we don’t hear you talking about them. I guess god forbid a dad actually care about his son and his accomplishments. He is also very famous in the sport as well so people also like interviewing him. Get over it, it’s 2023 and they don’t RU-vid thing so they are going to be more involved than others for content.
@@scottb9868 well, that’s kind of how shit works. He did his thing, he actually won a SX National, which is absolutely insane, then he built freestyle MX, was nicknamed “the general” because of his impact on FMX! Then, once he aged out of FMX, he went on to have a very successful run in off-road truck racing. All while raising a daughter that’s climbing the ranks in nascar, and a son who’s taking over the MX scene now. Seems more like a guy that won’t disappear and who keeps on winning.
@@johnthompson5302 you skipped the part where he made his millions screwing the people he called friends out of there fair share while using there blood sweat and broken bodies while he sat on the side being the mouth piece he is. Go ask Seth and Jeremy how awesome he is.

To me Brian is a guy who never really won in life because of Travis Pastrana. He still thinks he can do something but he can't. Good luck to his boy but Brian is always gonna be second place.
Pastrana didnt choose to leave racing for freestyle. He wanted to do both. What happened was, that one day he was practicing, and when he was done, there was this natural terrain area that had like an 80 foot step up that had a barbedwire fence at the top that he wanted to jump and clear. He tried it and was coming up short so he jumped off right through the handle bars and landed in the fence and totally destroyed his knee. He had surgery but it was never the same. For racing he had to train hard for cardio and ride a lot but could never workout or ride nore than maybe one ot two times a week because his knee would swell up so bad. So he chose to go full on fresstyle because he couldnt sustain a racing career with his knee.
That was part of it but his team also didn’t want him to do both because they were the ones paying him to race and if he got injured doing freestyle and couldn’t race, then they just paid him for nothing. But yeah his knee issue was also a big part of it. I’d say him and Brian both made a hella good choice and honestly idk if it had been any two other pro racers if it would have worked. Their personalities and everything just worked perfectly, plus the massive set they both obviously have between their legs 🤣
@@davidbiagi2932 part of it? That was the reason he left racing, because of his knee. I wasnt saying anything about leaving freestyle for racing, and like i said, he wanted to fo both. As far as freestyle, you are right, Roger and Suzuki didnt want Travis doing freestyle at all. I just wish Travis could have stayed in racing because he would have been competition for Ricky, and then we would have had a few years later, Ricky, James, Chad, and Travis all battling. That would have been great. However, it worked out really well for Travis and he has done so much for the dirt bike world. It worked out great for Brian as well.
Haiden Deegan and the Lawrence brothers alone got me back into watching racing since 2018. Maybe I just needed the break from MX but something felt special this year. Now I’m back addicted to the sport
@@yamahakid450fI was there live to witness for McGrath’s rivalry with Carmichael. Stewart’s rivalry with Reed. Went to live races for over 20 years but it just became stale in my opinion when Dungey left.
Eli and Chase got me back into it last year with their insane season long battle through MX, now I'm sticking around to see Haiden make it to the 450 class and battle with Jett and Hunter
@@HeavyK_MXB I have since caught up on what I missed , spent 12 hours watching the 10 minute extended highlights from each class 2020-2022 SX seasons. I definitely know a lot more guys now and I’m so hyped for 2024. I still need to catch up on MX. It’s a lot harder to find the full motocross races than Supercross (2018-present).
This was good. Brian is very well spoken, and has a good memory too! "Al Bundy" joke/reference... 🤣🤣🤣 Privateers... key point: "I trained my ass off, because that is one thing I didn't have to pay for" , referring to physical fitness. As Brian said, he didn't fade and passed people at the end of the moto/race. THAT is where you, as a privateer, can make 5-8, heck, maybe even 10 places further up the results, the last 8-10 minutes in outdoors. BE THE BEAST.... get your fitness so good, you can last 45 minutes per moto.
A huge difference between Brian and Twitch. Deegan grew up and Twitch still smokes weed. In fact has doobies on his merch, which looks like something a 20 year old rapper would do. Dude, you're 40 years old!
My wife prayed the Rosary's for decades & it started working well Cool stuff. She's the best co pilot too. LOVED Monster Mango Loco spiked with 99 Proof Coconut. Her Doctor called it mania with religous fervour so I fired him
Brian sr you probably have better things to do than read this. By chance if your seeing this thank you from the bottom of my heart may God always bless you and your family much respect for you as a husband father and a man keep up the positive choices laying a great foundation millions of men as myself admire you family life
