Why do you think I Still Know What You Did Last Summer won't get released in 4K?

Absolutely agree, mate. I couldn’t believe how great the restoration was done. The best thing about HDR is the fact that something that was shot on film takes a huge advantage, especially when it comes to colour. Not as good when you take something like Star Wars and you restore from the digitally restored crap that they did. It looks awful and the Blu Ray version is much better. Same thing happened with Terminator 2 , but this one is getting a new 4K release that apparently solves all the amount of shit they did with it. Yeah, I hope “I still know…” gets the 4K treatment, but I doubt it very much. It’s like the Ugly Duckling and they’re not so happy with the final product that came out. I still think they should do it , Scream 3 is the worst of the franchise and Paramount is releasing their UHD next year.

@@theSupercasa unfortunately the film was put to death by film critics all around the world when it came out, but I think people are starting to see it as a cult classic and they’re more appreciative now of the work that they put together in less than a year to produce that sequel. I think that’s why Kevin is saying that getting a 4K for “I still know…” it’s gonna be a mira me if it finally happens.

@@Nick-us6tz Well I hope it happens, I think it certainly has it’s fans. The first movie is more of a suspenseful thriller ride with a slasher framing, where as the sequel is more of a survival horror type of slasher. I love them both.

This is a great restoration by Sony for sure. On the release itself, It would be perfect if it had the commentary track on the 4K disc. Otherwise, Dolby Vision, Atmos + the original 5.1 audio and the extras should put this at the top of list.

The clouds were blown out on the 2008 disc like a lot of early blu-rays that were using old transfers. The HDR to SDR brings the brightness down on those clouds, but on an HDR display, those clouds are brighter, just not blown out. The Dolby Vison version is more cinematic than the HDR10. The HDR10 is noticeably brighter in Average Picture Level. The scenes shown in the video are closer to the Dolby Vision presentation, without the peak brights in clouds, lights, lamps, etc.

Grain is good. I sometimes add several comparisons with some extreme oversharpening to highlight the differences in the grain, but I didn't feel I needed to here. The grain is very fine. On par with other Sony releases (Ghostbusters, Karate Kid).
