"I just quit." Great stuff. It was nice to meet you the other day. Heck yes you can do it. If you want it bad enough, you can do it.

This story hits home to me. I've been working in IT Project Management for 6 years and feel my soul wasting away at my computer. We are "part-time" homesteaders and all I can think about all day is leaving my desk and getting outside. I have a daily struggle with my priority to work and provide for my family and wanting to have a simpler life. One where I can be free to tend my gardens, raise animals, soak in the sunshine without stress of a deadline or glaring computer screen back at me. I know this video is several years old now and it's so encouraging to see where your family is at now. I loved your statement with being tired of living comfortably. I feel that in my heart right now.

I also left California and moved over 2000 miles to Louisiana for a year, then to Mississippi where I found our home on 11 acres. It was a leap of faith, a single woman with 4 year old twins ( now 7). Sold my house, quit my job and left. All in a months time. Left behind so many wonderful people but it was time to go.

I feel you! The last three years at my job in law enforcement was killing me. After 28 years, I retired and my life became my own. I am fortunate enough to have a good pension and I also invested well. Two and a half years ago I was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. After only one chemo treatment my doctor told me my cancer was undetectable. I decided I would live my life on my own terms and not spend hours each week sitting in a cold sterile cubicle with a needle in my arm so in March of 2018 I stopped going. I have never felt better living and enjoying my life on my terms.

Your intuition about sitting all day and just having to run and move was and is not crazy. Sedentary jobs are killers, physically and mentally and most important spiritually. I think there is a catch phrase now Sitting is the new Cancer. It's a lot more than that. I feel we need to have days where you have to make a decision with that mysterious God given part of you the soul. Soul decisions. How many days did you have to make soul decisions on that old job? Working with plants and animals and nature and neighbors calls for lots of soul decisions and true ethics about who you want to be. You are on the path, brother. Walk by faith and keep cutting the envelope of comfort! Great video and makes me realize we need more of these testimonies to get people moving, me included. Thank you.

Jason, Katie and I enjoyed meeting and talking with you last weekend at the Rhodes'. This video describes us to a T - we are right at this stage in our Journey to build our homestead and live a more intentional life; except we haven't found our land yet. We are still nomads. I hope our paths meet again! Until then, we wish you and your family the best.

Jason, thank you for sharing. :) We love your story and it resonates with us so much! We had to go on faith a lot when we started homesteading as well. Our story is has a fixer-upper though instead of quitting a job. We felt so passionate that we needed a change and we felt so passionate that the answer was this old broken down house and property. At times we thought "we must be crazy!" but it continued to feel right and we haven't looked back since really. Life in a completed house with no animals and no garden was comfortable, and this new life is a little crazy and a lot of hard work, but we rally love it and it has been the best adventure we have ever been on! :) We wish you guys all the best! We love watching your beautiful videos and learning more about who you are and where you came from. :) -Lorajean and Trent

Jason, I just found this old video and I don't know if its fate or what, but I really needed to see this! My wife and I have been pondering the same things recently about our jobs and there has to be more to life! It is a scary leap to leave stability for the unknown, but at same time you have to be happy in what you do and I'm not! Anyways thanks for this video it just made a lot of sense right now!

I am/was a CAD designer. In Virginia. You may look familure...your story certainly sounds familure. My husband is still a CAD designer. ..it's been 19 years for him. 19 years...sitting and staring...drinking coffee like water and tolerating the work day over there...to drive the hour plus commute to come home and enjoy himself working at home. Where we raise chickens and grow our food and store it. He tolerates 10 hours a day to enjoy the 3 hours left of daylight in the evening. And it's killing him. The daughter's are all grown and moved out on there own except our son...who is special needs and will never live independently. 23 physically and 6 years old cognitively...he will have his 4th open heart surgery to replace the parts they installed when he was 11 in a mater of months to a few years. We are blessed that, so far, everything looks great. But mechanical valves...they have an expiration date. So we know...we know this trauma is in our future and we know it must happen and we know the risks. And this husband of mine....wants to be home. My Dad passed away 2 years ago and we built a huge workshop for him with all kinds of woodworking tools and set us up a business that he has no time to work in. It would be the biggest risk of our lives. The biggest and most profound leap of faith to stop pulling in cash flow and insurance...to enjoy what might be the last...I can't go there but I think you get the picture. I admire your story and relate so well...I don't doubt that we worked together. We have this one life. 💚
