To really go with the theme of this series, maybe you could click on each need in the needs panel to let the Sim choose how they want to satisfy it. Maybe that would add to the "whatever he wants" gameplay 😁
@@thedoctorsscrewdriver3997 if you have the UI Cheats Extension mod you can fill individual needs by clicking on the bar and it will automatically move to where you click.
its so funny that when james lets the game decide what to do, his sims have an actual circle of friends and hobbies like instantly and their lives look actually fun. chaz cant relate.
So I don’t remember Dayton’s traits but if he’s Evil have him interact with a Good sim. Alternatively have him sleep at someone’s house like say Bob & Eliza’s - since he’s lazy he’ll be angry they woke him up. Angry painting. Also since he doesn’t like mischief and you technically have to do mischief activities since it’s a job requirement…
It would be interesting to have aging on and do this, to see just how much a Sim could achieve in a lifetime solely based on whims. Given it took like three days to make a friend or go to the magic realm... might not be much.
I think in this series, money shouldn't be an issue. If he wants to buy something, buy it. There's no reason for yet another rags to riches style gameplay. I love it, but there's no reason to struggle with money in this series.
@@LlLl-wh2to personally i think if his sim wants him to buy something he should have to find a way to make money to earn it... otherwise wheres the fun in completing a whim if he can just complete it with a cheat... lol
An easy way to get a sim angry is make a party size flaming hot Spaghetti, which is only an option when angry, and then eat a portion of that. Works the same way with the silly gummy pancakes and high energy protein plate for playful and energised moods.
You can get angry pretty easily by making your sims engage in activities they dislike. Tune a radio to their least favorite station and just watch the rage roll in
Changing the security setting on computers so only your sim can use it (like passwords on actual computers) is the better alternative to having to lock doors. Often sims won't even bother going to that room any more, without the sweet sweet promise of blicblock.
I have an idea to make money. Aspirations are technically something the game tells you to do. Do those tasks to get enough points for the money tree. You can choose your aspiration based on your traits and likes so the game controls all of it in some way
Everyone commenting that this was posted an hour early, I think it’s because daylight savings just started in Sydney. So we get videos an hour earlier, yayyy 🥳
Brilliant loved this I would like a household of 8 random generated sims that have to have their whims satisfied only by those in the house. (Kinda like lockdown conditions) They order in groceries and are not allowed to leave the house (have to make money by at home careers too). Basically let the whims drive the GP.
Oh, I didn't even notice! That would make more sense. But I'm glad James decided not to do it, because you can't do the holiday and a party at the same time (annoyingly enough) since the task bar/checklist is in the same area of the screen. It might've cancelled Harvest-fest early.
@@meredithwemhoff9270 apparently they stopped updating them after seasons. Whim Overhaul mod adds new whims for packs after seasons and I think tunes then a bit so you’re not just getting the same buy whims.
Honestly whims need a complete rejig anyway, they only focus on short term wants whereas in the sims 3 there was a mixture of short term and long term, so you could really feel like your sim had a direction they wanted to go with their life as well as just random things they might like
@@katierasburn9571 There are a few longer term whims, like trying for a baby or getting married (although weddings might be bugged and not get counted lol) but overall, yeah, most of the whims are incredibly short term... actual whims and unfortunately that's just not enough. I think the devs were relying on the aspirations for the more long term stuff this time around but the wants and fears from previous installments worked a lot better. There's just too much grinding in Sims 4 and IMHO it's artificially tuned to stretch out certain skills in particular, like robotics making you dazed and fabrication failing, both of which are utterly random. It'd be different if we had something like the crafting skills in FF14 where the risk was partially based on your own decisions and your skill level... even if that IS the case in the Sims 4, there's no way to tell, other than bad moods affecting quality. Even then, it'd be sort of okay if the grinding was a little more engaging to watch or the rewards felt worth it. For example, I have a spellcaster semi-rags to riches rn and even with a barely-there micro house I'm starting to think I'm better off ignoring the spells and focusing more on wellness and knitting for him. I plan on finding him a partner and starting a family really soon. By the time there's a toddler, the extra adult Sim, the pet cat, and the kiddo chaos might make the spell grind less dreadful but knitting at least gives me clothes and items to unlock so it feels more rewarding than legally unlocking various cheat codes for him lol. TL;DR Yeah, the previous Wants and Fears system was better developed and felt more engaging overall.
Hey James, here is an idea for this series: You should also do what the game tells you to do during the loading screens ;) It hads a bit of a challenge. Cheers!
Notification: *Come* win amazing prizes by going to the Finchwick Fair! James: "They didn't tell me to do it" I think James has a very particular definition of what he considers a command lol
He's still sore about how broken the scoring system is. Plus he usually spends all day there and in theory one of the other LP brothers still needs to win for their aspiration I think. I don't blame James for refusing to go! It'd be different if it was any other festival type event.
James going for a magic duel with literally zero experience in magic was funny, but watching his sim waddle to the duel bc he had to use the toilet had me dying.
I *really* like your *trying* to do what your Sims command you to do, lol. He didn't wish to go to work, man! Series is a pleasant break from all that building. Thank you so much.
Don't sims sometimes get angry when cleaning? Maybe you could try that? Also I think I saw dayton have the moodlet for messy environment, so cleaning wouldn't be against the rules?
You should check out the gameplay rules of Pleasant Sims on her blog! Since the Sims 2 she has always played based by the "wants" or "whims" of Sims and I think the rules she came up with for the Sims 4 are really fun ^^
I love how sims players are always saying like, "The game needs more sponteanity! More spice!! (and I agree), but yet we have a hard time giving up control and just letting things happen xD
When James went hands-off, he reminded me of when LaurenZSide left her Sims 4 running with all the dangerous mods going overnight to come back to some horror in the game. I kind of want to see James do something like this and see what his Sims would do...
You can click on a need in the need window and your sim will do something to fill that need. I think that would be fun to add to the “let the game tell you what to do” theme :)
If this series continues and you need more money you could make those downstairs walls shorter 😃 Not quite sure how much it affects but I would do that 😁
*snork* There is a lot going on in Dayton's life -- though hilariously, given that this is a "do whatever the game tells me to do" game, it appears that Dayton is definitely going to be your Sim who is the most successful at fulfilling holidays! So many points, and no motivation to use them. . .
This is so weird I just had an idea that you could let a toddler control your life for in the sims! completing as many of their whims as you can, like that "kid control our life for a day" video
Lately I've just been kicking the gnomes instead. It still helps with the holiday goals, and they also break everything in your house which is great for a rags to riches.
Yes, please... more episodes! I really enjoyed this one. I had a trying day and wasn't able to finish this one this am and just finished this tonite.... Thanks!!!
You changed the Harvest Day party invite from Dinner Party to Dance Party, that's why your house wasn't an option And you should have the "Always welcome" trait, then you can use peoples' bath tubs and cook in their house and even sleep there
PLEASE CONTINUE THIS SERIES! Especially with the neighborhood stories update! I want to see what the Sims has Dayton do next! Please.....pleeeeaaaase :(( Vadeesh! :D
James, you should replace The Magic Realm with lilsimsie's rebuild of the venue from the gallery, there's lots more to do there including beds and bathrooms. Also: sell the gnomes.
If I were to make a challenge out of this I’d call it the “Yes-man” challenge and follow the same rules. As in only follow whims and needs. I’d also set up a final goal that would be kind of easy in regular gameplay but significantly harder within the limits of the challenge, like completing an aspiration or a career. 😜
Please do more of this and the every lot challenge one! You know what I HATE that all sim RU-vidrs do? Focus on ONE pack at a time. The Sims was meant to be played with all packs (that you have) simultaneously! These 2 let's plays finally break that beyond annoying obsession with the one pack focus. That's why I love this one and the every lot challenge one! Also if you specifically do an all packs let's play that would be awesome! :D
I havent played the sims in almost a year and i miss it SO BAD!!! Hopefully im gonna get a new computer soon but until then im gonna have to live vicariously through the youtubers i watch
