3:24 Lesson Number 3 of Dark Souls: You're not that guy. There's always someone or something stronger, faster, more magical, or better equipped than you, and yet, despite that, with enough skill, you can win.
Pontiff is the DS3 manhood test after the Abyss watchers. A boy could beat them with enough tries. If you can take him down you clear this game with enough patience. I will advice you that DS3 is a very R1 heavy game and try explore a lot when you can. There are several shortcuts that will help you get to bosses and make run backs smoother in the future
One of many things I like about Souls-borne games is that everyone's experience is different for each boss. Pontiff is easy for some and hard for others. I found him somewhere in between. For some reason Gael was very easy for me but Midir was a nightmare
Far as i know, those dual greatswords are like the last weapons you can get in the second DLC, which you can access either by defeating the first DLC, or at the very end of the base game.
1:40 You can, but it's a little hard to do early game. If you have both DLCs, you can access the first one (Ashes of Ariandel) through the Cathedral of the Deep, an NPC will take you into that DLC. Defeat the main boss of the DLC, and there will be a bonfire that will take you into the second DLC (The Ringed City). You will need to kill a very hard boss for low level, but once it is done, you can get to the area where you farm the Ringed Knight set. The Greatswords are further in the DLC, being a guaranteed drop from the knight that uses them.
Forget about getting the ringed knight greatsword early. You need to either finish the 1st (very hard) dlc or gotten to the last boss of the game and also you need to be able to at least beat the first boss of the last dlc which is a hard boss as it is let alone when you try him very under-leveled. After beating the old demon king, i strongly recommend you to go back into that level to find Fume Ultra Greatsword. Its hard to explain in a comment where to find it exactly but theres ton of videos on youtube explaining it. Really worth trying out. Btw after beating aldrich and yhorm you need to get back to the bonfire of the second boss, the ice dogg, and go into the castle. There you find the next boss
Of you beat all the necessary bosses a cut scene will bring you there automatically. And fumes is a lot of req for low level. You can also do a short Sword and astoras for a pocket ugs.
6:00 WHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEL SKELETONS! Welcome to a contendor for the most frustrating enemy in the trilogy! Every spoke of their wheels is a tick of damage, and they roll FAST.
@@thatsalehart7459so true . Those fuckin wheel bastards in DS1 were absolutely fucking infuriating . They fucking pin you against the wall and spin your health down in .5 seconds . Shit was insane
SPOILERS! DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANNA KNOW WHERE THE DOUBLE GREATSWORDS ARE LOCATED Im sorry to say it bro, but the way to the area where you get the double greatsword is right at the end of the game.. right before the last boss. You might wanna look up the fume ultra greatsword tho, i think you would like that one. You get it in the catacombs you explored before the old demon king
He could go get them now technically, he can start ashes right now, kill friede, then start ringed city from there and get the greatswords. Would be pretty tough doing friede and demon prince under levelled though
forget about the paired ringed knight greatswords. you get them when you have 2/3/4 (depending on the route) bosses left in the whole game. basically the end of the game. there's also the fact that they also deal fire damage, which is the element that many mobs and bosses are resistant towards. it's sad that the COOLEST strength weapon is the most useless. fromsoft did us dirty with this one.
Hi great LP my dude! I would recommend something.. level up your Endurance and maybe put on the grass shield, it help with stamina regain and it works well with most of builds. But of course you don't have to do that.. I just thought to give some help from an old DS player. Keep up the great work!
the carthus milkring is a pretty good item, it boosts your dex by 5 i think. you can also get the pontiffs ultra greatsword and its weapon art sets it on fire
If you want to get to ringed city dlc area early, you have to go through the painted world of Ariandel first and defeat the final boss there, but... good luck beating it, one of if not the hardest boss in the game with one other exception :)
Pontiff sulivahn!! His lore is actually kinda nuts but i won't go to into it here since i went on the whole tangent of demons and you haven't seen too much of the game yet Suffice to say, if dark souls story was about defeating evil overlords like LOTR or Harry Potter, or Star Wars, he would be the final boss. He's the closest this story has to like Voldemort or Palpetine But dark souls is not about defeating evil, so instead he's a mid game boss with no cutscene lol More on him later
Damn this bit goes hard lol. So I basically shattered whatever scheme he was running by bonking him with a heave of iron lol. Thanks for the info and support as always my guy!
If i recall right only way to get the weapon you want is to get access to dlc 2 for Dark Souls 3 and the two ways to get there is to deafeat the last boss i dlc 1 or play the game to the last area
Pontiff has the first Mimic Tear. You can even kill it. He's the only reason I can justify using it in Elden Ring. It felt as if FS rewarded us the mimic tear for defeating Pontiff in Ds3.
after fighting oceiros which is after dancer to th3 left if you get the gesture path of the dragon or way of the dragon (i cant remember the exact name) if you go to ithriel dungeon at the bottom level instead of going to the right one you get to the bottom go left after u go up stairs a dead dragon man will be up there if u use the gesture to the left of the dead dragonman on the carpet thing and wait u will be taken to the area where 2 bosses lie 1 being the wyvern the other being the nameless king. didnt know if you would like to go there but just incase :D as usual good luck on ur game sir
You can get to The Ringed city after you kill the boss Sister Friede from Ashes of Ariandel, two bonfires will appear in her arena, one of which you can rest near and the second will teleport you.
sadly there isnt really a way to get the ringed knight paired greatsword in YOUR world befor very very lategame ..... HOWEVER, u COULD arrange for someone to get one for you, join you in a coop session and drop it for you. only issue youd then have to deal with is the 50 STR requirement to use em. i dont really have any plans over the weekend so if ya want, id be happy to help
You should get the cloranthy ring man helps a lot with low stamina and greatswords etc. not sure if you’re going for a strength/quality build but pyro is pretty strong in this game. My end build is dex/pyro with friedes great scythe (before that was using strength and lorians greatsword). Oh and the ringed knight dual greatswords are pretty far into the ringed city (2/3 pretty rough bosses in) and the ringed city is pretty hard not gonna lie 😂 if you didn’t like the old demon king you’re gonna have a bad surprise when you fall down a big pit later on 😅
That area was actually one of my favourites for some reason:). I hated the swamps. I alwys hate the swamp areas. Im playing Dark Souls 1 remastered and had a smiliar evening not long ago:). You get a little tilted, you become impatient, you rush and you just end up dying and dying. It seems if you want to speed up, its the worse thing in souls game, it seems to you you play thesame, but you make small mistakes, you amass mobs because you go to fast, and it fast becomes a cl#######ck . I ended the day very frsutrated and hating the game. Next evening , beat the same area no sweat, feeling patient....
Useful tip: strength has 50% level scaling from double handing the weapon which means you can use a 30 strength req weapon by double handing it at level 20.
wrong wording but let me clarify. if you have 20 str and weapon requires 30 str, by two-handing it, you gain 50% extra str (10 for this example) and you can properly wield it. this is why in ds3, the str cap is 66 because when two-handing, it's like you have 99 (max). it acts as a hidden stat (not shown in char screen). shows 66 but it's effectively 99.
@@alexandertiti i think my wording was correct we dont get 50% strength we get 50% strength level scaling as flat strength would mean damage increase but we get level increase. Altho its ultimately the same and trivial.
Got a buddy or two to help you? You can set passwords for summons so you directly summon them, and set your region to local to reduce invasions. Makes the game a Lot easier.
@@TrueSquareFace no problem, g. Also, the shell dude you found dead. He was killed by a female assassin as part of a quest line with a different ending.
Sweet!! Now that you've made it to demons i can talk a little more about izalith and her chaos witches, the creators of pyromancy So the important event with izalith actually happened AFTER the war with the dragons during the age of fire After the first few thousand years, the first flame started to fade and gwen wanted to extend the age of fire due to his fear of the return of the age of darkness and dragons As i said previously, it was eventually figured out that you could burn people alive in the fire to artificially extend it (it needs to be someone powerful in order to get any meaningful benefit out of it) but that was not gwens FIRST idea His first idea was to visit his old ally izalith, since she was the master of fire. Together they tried to create a new artificial first flame to replace the original when it went out However, the experiment went wrong and resulted in a honor explosion destroying izaliths whole city (now called lost izalith or the demon ruins) It also created someone they did not intend. They partially succeeded in their experiment and created a new flame that can never, EVER, go out. But instead of keeping the world lit it consumes and curropts whatever it touches, disfiguring their bodies and turning them into demons. This affected all her witch daughters and turned them into kinda-hot kinda-gross demons that look like naked centaur ladies with a giant spider body instead of a horse It also created a ton of other forms of demons including that stray demon you fought at the top of farron keep. Demons it turns out, actually ended up creating their own society and culture, but that didn't stop gwen from going to war with them and enslaving most of them. Gwen has an army of silver knights, but he trained a certain troop of them to specialize in killing demons. They are the black knights, their silver armor burned black by the demons they fight. Black Knight weapons do tons of bonus damage against demon enemies Izalith herself became a demon as well until she got slayed by the chosen undead (your character in the first game) The old demon king, and the demons you've seen so far are some of the last in existence
That explains why the black knights hit so much harder than the regular ones lol. So what I’m hearing is that though Gwen started this age and society, he secretly did quite a bit of fucked up things to prolong it which basically led to whatever there is now. This lore is kinda insane man, thank you so much for explaining things!
@@TrueSquareFace very accurate. gwen brought the age of fire, but was a pretty terrible person. you'll hear more about the royal family (which play important plot roles in BOTH 1 and 3) in probably the next video or 2. the opening cutscene teased aldrich saint of the deep and yhorm the giant but I can't talk about either of them without talking about sulivahn and gwen/the royal family as well, so once those videos release expect a wee bit more than usual from me lol
if you go back to the demon ruins you can find an hostile npc with an even bigger colossal sword if you kill him he will drop it its past 2 illusionary walls and then a room full of basilisk left of the staircase
also zero hate at all but when i get to pontiff i usually am hitting about 400 a hit with normal swords, that are fast. you need to upgrade your weapons asap that greatsword could do 1,000+ per hit soon
go back to early game first place where u killed borealis or how ever u spell his dmn name been so long sense i played go back up the stairs and in the room past the 2 knights kill the old lady and interact with the statue in the back if she already dead still interact with the statue and have fun ;)
Dark Souls 3 is the perfect level of difficulty. Elden Ring was just trying to be difficult for the sake of it, to the point of hurting actual boss design. Delayed attacks and almost non-existent attack windows are just not it.
@@TrueSquareFace thanks man, one more quick tip, try to play ds1 before ds2. I would sugest playing ds3 after ds1 and 2 but you already started ds3 lol
