@@goofball_gutz IF SOMEONE HAD TOLD ME IN 1995 THAT A PARTIALLY NÜ METAL BAND MIXED WITH ARMENIAN FOLK ROOTS WOULD BE A GOOD THING, I WOULD NOT HAVE BELIEVED IT... AND LOOK!... THEY ARE AMAZING!... 👍🏻❤️ YOU REALLY NEVER KNOW...
System is one of the very few musical groups that i can put on any song from any album and just let the whole disco play and never once feel the urge to skip a single song.
I recently have and really enjoyed it much more than I thought. My only extent of TOOL was like Schism and Sober. Now my top 5 are: Prison Sex, Sober (still lol), Forty Six & 2, Jambi, and The Pot.
@@rustyshaaaakleford tell 'em to look for "placid rat" instead, they basically uploaded their entire discogs and disguised it as a parody. get got rotten records
The way I got into SOAD was pretty great. A buddy of mine had bought the first album, and didn't particularly care for it. He comes to me and says "Hey you like weird shit, you can have this!" and gave me the CD. I listened to it after he left, called him up and was like "YOU DON'T LIKE THIS?!" It was love at first listen for me. Bought Toxicity day one too. That's about where it ends though. My punkhouse buddies absolutely ruined Steal This Album, and the rest I don't care about.
Serj has the most amazing and unique voice in the modern rock, just love him so very freaking much. SOAD and their music have personality bigger than all current top-40 artists combined.
Dude, your editing keeps getting better and better! 👏🏻 Also, the streams you've been doing are really fun (yesterday's "every metal genre" was amazing).
I really can’t stand Steal This Album. I think self titled and Toxicity are amazing and Mezmerize and Hypnotize are really good and would be way better if you take out Daron’s singing or lower it a lot.
7:38 YESS, I would listen to this on repeat as a cd when i would go to sleep, and just in general. It never gets old, honestly my very favorite album from them. I am sad you didn't get to sad statue on the album tho :(
Hey bradley keep up with what you are doing it's really inspiring. I had a question for example you are playing a lead line, melody or solo 1) do you hear in ontervals 2) you hear and thenknow where are all the intervals 3 when playing solo do you prallely think that bend from b5 to 7 and then this lick then 4 and 5 hammer on If yes then what should I do to achieve same level
Pause. Just because this bozo listened to this shit doesn't mean you don't have too. Incredible music. I recommend anyone to listen to all of this front to back.
I think Steal this album is highly underrated! Check out Mr Jack, Innervision, and the whole last few songs are just really solid, it almost goes back to the first album in terms of heaviness.
hypnotize is rly damn underrated, holy mountains is such a great track, still toxicity of course is the n.1 for me. (hypnotize was at one point) my list is: 1. toxicity 2. hypnotize 3. self titled 4. mesmerize 5. steal this album
It's not underrated, what I think is that SOAD have 5 great albums, and none of them can be considered bad, if you like music in general they're great, cuz I know some did not quite like the latest album since they don't have the raw sound of the first two albums, Hypnotize has Vicinity of obscenity, what a banger! It was the first song I heard from them and my introduction to metal.
I’m an outlier with my experience with SOAD. I bought and loved their debut when it came out but never listened to Toxicity until years after it came out. I had a lot going on in my life that meant I stopped paying attention to new music for ages. I know most people came onboard with their 2000’s stuff and heard the debut later.
I agree with Mezmerize being the best SOAD album. I absolutely love most of the songs on it like Radio/Video, Soldier Side - Intro, Old School Hollywood, and Cigaro too. Absolutely legendary. Hearing those songs was what made me want to get into guitar and start playing it.
Wasn’t Serj done by the mesmerize/ hypnotize. I could be wrong but I remember Daron taking over writing duties which was one of the main reasons why they took a hiatus. Well according to them.
system are the only band that I've bought an LP that's from their actual store, usually i buy everything from amazon but these guys got me into nu-metal so i thought id support them directly.
My older brother introduced me to SOAD when I was 9, and I fell in love with the band instantly. One day I decided to listen to BYOB in the class during a break, my teacher would make fun of me, she thought it's too much for a 10 yo girl. My bro is now 30, he's a husband and a father of two. And I'm still a metalhead 🤘🤘🤘
Used to listen to system of a down alot back in the early 2000s but these days not so much anymore since I've moved on to better bands that are still active.
I don't know if many people will agree but when I started listening to system of a down as a teenager, steal this album was my least favourite album and now it's my favourite one, really love the second half of the album with highway song , ego brain, thetawaves, roulette and streamline.
Surprised you said Mezemerize and Hypnotize are the more diluted albums. I've always felt like they have the most intricacy and general musical/structural depth. Definitely the most difficult guitar work of their career
