This generation can live in a shed just if it has Wi-Fi 😐 Do not make it very comfortable, they like garages! ... and refrigerators in mom’s kitchen, Wi-Fi, free water in a shower, clean toilet, etc... My son is the same age, after school he said “ I’ll move out for a college and never come back” ... (I was relieved btw ) but few years later he returned to SF ... and “for a while” inhabited his room... casually looking for job, gaming days and nights ... it drove me nuts! 😖 It took me few months to force him to move to his GF place...

Honestly, I agree. I get along fine with my family now (because I moved out), I had an extremely complicated childhood, and I would never live with them again. You have to live in California to understand why families are "piling up". Rents are so high that people just can't wrap their heads around it. We need to see more garage and storage shed conversion videos. What we *really* need to do, as Californians, is to get rid of these greedy politicians and their greedy laws so that we can breathe again, have some elbow room again. We have the most beautiful scenery but the greediest, money grubbing people.

It's funny, really. Multi-generational living used to be commonplace in this Country. As the nuclear family dynamic has become less common, this living situation became more and more rare. When buying a house takes 2 persons income, it's sadly an inevitable outcome in case of divorce. This is the reality of today's market. Also, renting is a waste of money, but impossible to get out of that cycle if you're on your own. Unless you get creative like this family

Me and my husband moved to Arizona 2 years ago. Our extended family offered to help us, but we felt like trying not to be a burden. So we bought an RV. We have been living in the RV for over a year now to save from losing the money on rent. We are finally looking at the perspective of buying our own home. All the sacrifices of space were worth it. I had my bedroom back home, but sharing a bed with my mum is my favorite thing. We would have breakfast in bed, chat, laugh... amazing, I would never trade it for anything else. She came to visit me for 6 weeks in March, she was stuck here in Australia due to covid before flying back home in Italy: I live by myself in a studio and, again, we shared a bed, sang, got ready on it for my graduation, watched tv, laughed. This is so cool!! After we left his dad, when my son was six we lived in half a garage behind my girlfriends house. I was working from home doing transcription work, so my desk was, by far, the biggest piece of furniture in the place. I was homechooling my son as well and with a small sofa, a trundle bed, a book case as a room divider and a small kitchenette, there wasn't much room for school stuff... but!! ...just outside the door to our little home was a small chicken coop that hadn't had chickens in it for years. My girlfriend and I swept the "floors", put down a piece of indoor-outdoor carpet, moved in a small picnic table, and school was in session. During a difficult time my son and I were surrounded by only the things that made us the happiest and that we loved the very most. 20 years later he and I still talk about those months, 7 or 8 I think it was, and agree that that experience brought us very close together, no pun intended. 🤣🤣 Thanks again for sharing this. This is what happens when you have Dem after Dem running (ruining) the state. NEWSOME!! Practicalities of finance and public safety are thrown out the window because of folks using the monies of the middle class to fund their personal pet projects, which usually puts money in their pockets while taking it from yours, and their newest way to enslave the lower classes (welfare). They forget about getting folks off of drugs and the streets and getting them real help (mental). Do any of you remember the bridge to nowhere in Alaska? I think that Congressman(?) just wanted funding for that project to get re-elected. He had to show that he was bringing money back to his state, it didn't matter that it was a useless pet project. What that money could have done in Alaska versus where it went was probably bordering on the criminal. Dems are always spend, spend, spend. And they always reach into YOUR pocket book to do it. At the end of the day, you get booted to the curb while they move up in square footage, how much they have in their off shore accounts and how many people they have on hand to ensure their personal safety and that of their family. Usually their safety issues involves the carrying of arms. But they want to take yours away. And there you have the Dems in a nutshell. Do as I say, not as I do. Could I just say "politicians"? Yes. But the Dems demonstrate my position to the tee over and over again without even blinking. If I could do what someone did (poop on a driveway) to show my utter disapproval of the targeted person I would. I believe they are a heaping helping of excrement in the way that they conduct themselves behind closed doors and the way in which they have enriched themselves while making us poorer and less safe.

Speaking of California, if you are not living in a big city like Los Angeles or San Francisco or many high cost living areas, there are places and affordable homes either for rent or buying to live comfortably. I understand each of us has different living demands due to personal preference or jobs or social. I pay less than $1200 for my two story home in 2282 sq ft in central California. You are so right, be happy and be blessed. Put the kids in the bedroom with twin beds. Decorate the room. Buy a let- out- sofa for the living room where you sleep. It can work for all three of you.

@@dominizzle-that’s what I did with my son when he was born. I did it for 4 years. Believe it or not I was able to save for a down payment on a home. All I needed was $1,800. In a good suburban neighborhood. I bought it from an investor. I love my home. Single parents there’s so many options you have. I was changing my Credit up at the same time. My son is now 41 years old. I’m showing my 28 year old what to do as well.

This is so refreshing! I applaud you and your mom, sister (and also the close friends in the big house). This is just great. 'Small and cute, rather then big and lonely'...nails it. Your close relationship with your mom and sister is the hallmark. In the last 12 years of my mom's life, I visited her for months at a time. During that time we shared her king sized bed. (actually, there were two additional empty bedrooms in the house. This was my preference). Sharing a bed made possible so many wonderful conversations, sometimes in the middle of the night or early morning. Just sharing the space gave us a sense of loving connection. Especially now that she is gone, I would not trade those times for anything. The illusion of that old 'American Dream' of hugeness and isolation is flawed in ways that hurts us deeply. Your family has stepped out of it. Wishing you continuing happiness.

I live in an upscale neighborhood, but almost everyone in this neighborhood is about 3 familes under one roof. No one can afford these house on their own. And that's totally fine👍❤

@@c7adventures376 There are 58 homes total in the neighborhood (all brand new homes, most not even a year old yet) and everyone knows everyone else. No one is bothered or offended by each others situations.(We are one of the families that are blessed enough to be able to afford one family under one roof, but we have 5 children, so we are huge) We all abide by HOA regs and live happily. It's an amazing community that is more a family. We all look out for each other and we all gather on our lawns in the front at night and talk and enjoy each other ( before covid) All of our kids play and we all get along. These are all families that work in DC and commute together or ride the train together too. Very high paying jobs, but takes many to run and pay for a household in this area.

@@breezeh1127 as long as everyone is ok with it. Most HOAs have a policy on multiple families in a home or even guest for that matter. But as long as everyone knows the rules, then everyone knows what they are getting into.
