Cuz as a word it’s a good comical material, a good line for comedy sketches, but for the people who actually experience it, they are the ones who got targets on their back, their heads nonetheless and it is scary to run like that.
The moral courage this man has is incredible. I fully understand his desire for adventure in his early life. I did the same and joined the British Army. Although our paths were different, we both did it for the same reason: to protect. I have nothing but admiration for this highly eloquent and intelligent man.
This is actually how the intelligence agencies get the best information is by talking to them and none of the enhanced techniques. People involved actually become exhausted looking over their shoulder and let it all out.
AQ committed several terrorist attacks during the years he was in the organization before the 1998 embassy bombings (this for example en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khobar_Towers_bombing ). The real story about why he turned on AQ (and chose to work for the UK of all places) is probably much more complicated than he's willing to talk about. In any case, this interview is very well done.
A terrorist isn’t a bad ass. They tend to kill innocent people, nothing bad ass about it. He only turned against his terrorist pals to save his own behind.
Seriously dumb comment. Firstly, you shouldn't judge people on what they look like. Secondly, he's not 'a complete badass' he is a low IQ dangerous person who is capable of causing great harm.
To be a good person is one thing. To get involved with a bad group of people, realize what's going on around you, and then leave and make it your life's mission to take these bad people down (risking your life in the process), is on a whole other level of badassery.
Ladbible, you really are conducting next level interviews. We're getting the inside look into worlds we would never get to experience and hear answers to questions we never thought we'd hear. Really amazing stuff, thank you!!
Not to be that guy, but it’s hear. Not doing it to be a jerk, just helping you improve your English for the future. Here is being at a place, like jimmy is here at my house. Hear is listening to.
I remember back in the days LADBible just used to post typical "lad" humour/memes etc on Facebook, nowadays they evolved to actually posting quality content and interesting articles.
How the hell did he fail on such softball question: “Do you consider yourself a terrorist?” He said 1,000,000 things but he did not at any point- say “no- I’m not a fking terrorist anymore” etc..... I don’t trust that at all
@@amritnalam9994 he was probably safer there where he knew how they act than in britain where he can be killed by al qaeda members like he said people tried to do.
@zak it’s hard to get to the people in power, where as attacking civilian, and using the excuse “we did this because X person is doing these evil acts, and we will keep doing this until X person stops/gets in trouble for what they do”, is much easier to do, then trying to simply kill X person. Also, Al-Quida along with ISIS, and other terrorist organizations, believe any person that is American, or helps an American in anyway, is complicit with the atrocities that America does, therefor in their eyes, they aren’t innocent civilians, but actually a reason that those atrocities against their kind are committed.
He redeemed himself but it's important to remember that this guy was once prepared to kill, or support the killing of innocent people with a smile on his face. You have to wonder about the pathology of such people, frankly. Ideology plays a massive role in these movements but for the individual it still requires something close to psychopathy to think this way. We're not talking about a group that fought a just resistance against occupying soldiers here. So yeah, redeemed but I wouldn't call him a hero.
This guy just shattered the savagery roof with that one line: Your first mistake is your last mistake. You dont live to make another mistake, you a head short and six feet under.
“You do not judge a man by his actions while under orders, but judge him when the time comes for him to act on his own accord.” You’re a brave man sir, well done.
@d R which is true in a sense, but let’s say he did stand up against them after that first attack on the embassy, and was killed instantly which would likely be the case, how many more lives would have been lost because the knowledge we got from him never existed? Is that worth a mans “dignity” ?
Em lad bible are puppets man. Their owned by the g9verment buddy. Yes some of these shows are good but damn just know they ain't shit. The amount of people they imporsioned for by lies

"They have tried to kill me twice. I consider this a badge of honor." Dude has gone though a lot in his life. It's good to know he saw the direction everything he was involved in was headed and got out while he was able to. Many become so involved and indoctrinated that they never even consider how awful the things they are a part of become.
As a non-native who has been studying English for years, I'm absolutely mind blown by his English. I've learned more new words listening to this guy than I usually do listening to highly educated natives. You can definitely tell he reads a lot.
@@jackinabox926 No, it's one of the easiest. Verbs hardly change unlike other languages, they don't need to change if you use the pronoun: I, you, he she, we, you plural, they go: he/she goes. You don't know nothing, this phrase doesn't make you be more badass. You are the one spending too much time on the internet and with too much time on your hands to keep looking for comments to post this. Embarassing.
Word. The punks on the streets here don't have even a tiny clue what a badass is. This dude has far more street cred than all of them combined. Anyone can threaten anyone else with a gun to make themselves feel like they're in control and have some level of power over other people but it's the quiet ones playing the long chess game that always win over loud overt threats. Once you've pulled your gun, you've shown your hand and you're caught sooner rather than later. Then again, most criminals aren't very intelligent. They could be but they willingly stunt themselves into mental deficit.
This is an amazing interview. It's stories like these that help us understand the world, beyond ideologies and discourse of demagogues. Our assumptions are rarely correct. We are all influenced by our culture, surroundings, and experiences to the point that it's hard to keep track of our own biases. I appreciate channels like this that show us broadening perspectives. In the end, we realize that we are all people prone to making mistakes that lead to devastating consequences. We cannot judge someone based on just one metric; we are all characterized by incredibly complex sets of attributes, some of which are dark, sure, but the sum of which is always nuanced.
Sounds weird to say, but I honestly don't blame folks for getting into extremism when it's all that is offered and you know no better - the extremists make it sound prosperous until the individual sees what actually goes down. Good on this man for recognizing the threat.
You could say the same about the US military recruiting kids through social media to a much less extreme extent. He was lucky he had a valid excuse to leave, its not like you can just freely leave a terrorist group, just like you cant just leave the mafia etc. Alot of people are probably trapped in out of fear for their own life.
I blame religion. Different groups interpret it differently (or bend the rules to suit themselves), it just depends on where you're born. They're just too stupid to know better. I do still blame them aswell.
Exact same way that people get into gangs, they are the closet thing to a family you have, they treat you with love that you have never been given and thus you never let go
14:57- 16:08 I would’ve died from panic myself. It’s insane how composed this guy is and how well he handled it, I genuinely think anyone else would’ve blown their cover and died
Incredible deeds. These interviews are absolutely fascinating. Really diverse subject matter, and so well produced. It's also remarkable how well each of the subjects talks about their experiences! Each person seems to have a kind of consistent charisma!
Does this guy have any credentials? This video assumes you will just believe every word he is saying without any context or proof of his background etc
It's his "badge of honor" to have terrorists actively trying to assassinate him. All because he did what was humane and betrayed those pieces of shit. Mad respect

@PJ Rivera he specifically talked about how American taxpayers funding wars lead by America helped radicalize him. How that point is lost to you is also lost to me. American imperialism plays a large part in current global terrorism. Explaining this away is irresponsible.
He was never a terrorist 🤷♂️ The guy literally lived to help people from day one. The world is just a twisted place, and you don't always find yourself on the right team from the start..
Ladbible tv how do you contact people to be interviewed? I mean, you don't find North Korea escapists or Al-Qaeda spys on Facebook to contact them to be interviewed
Most of these people regularly do talks to spread awareness. They're not off the grid trying to live their secret lives. They also have books to sell...
The reason he retired being a spy was because American already leaked his info on Journalist and those retard also leaked his real name. MI6 called him to London when he was still in Paris, they told him that his covered was blown up.
Reminds me of a story I read in Arabic 13 yrs ago about why Bin Laden’s personal guard left him and quit alqaeda for the same reason! The shift from attacking military aggression to civilian targets His name was Abu Jandal! He was mentioned a lot in the show “looming tower”
Same propaganda techniques being used in recent years in Western, particularly North American and UK politics. Dangerously effective on the younger, insecure, and weaker-minded social media flies.

@@elisamorris7742 Yeah, it is crazy that USA supports various regimes that are the very opposite of democracy, and they even often fund insurgents that want to overthrow a government that gives people more liberties than the insurgents would. The goal is not the betterment of people in the countries, but preserving the USA interests there. Which is why I don't like USA much, even though I am an European. This shit is what gives the Islamists new recruits, this is also why Iran is an islamic republic rather than a constitutional monarchy now. And more often than not, the very insurgents USA funded turn against them. I wouldn't blame it on most of the USA citizens though. Their acceptance of wars varies, they can basically only choose between two parties (at least, none other had a president in last 150 years) and they are often indoctrinated to see some country and its people as enemies, even though that "sworn enemy" is on the opposite side of the globe. Iran is considered the enemy #1 now, where Saudi Arabia (which is where Osama bin Laden came from, among others), is a friend and ally.

@@johnso2399 Well, the border between guerrillas and terrorists can be blurry. When your country is occupied by an enemy, you can't really raise an army. Even if you could, direct confrontation of enemy army would fail. They either fight enemy army in various ambushes and use the element of surprise, or they attack civilian targets that are somehow tied to their enemy. In both cases they are sometimes called terrorists. But even those committing war crimes may do so fighting for freedom.

You know why this got out?? Because he was SMART, educated. He thought for himself. The fact that Bin Laden was soft spoken, eloquent, even non-threatening comes as no surprise at all to me. All the infamous sociopaths in history who gained their notoriety by executing tasks that furthere their goals, ambitions, and ideologies fit a similar profile, with some exceptions. Their charisma is usually something most people cannot dispute or deny, creating many "useful idiots". But those with any intellect see right through it, nod their head in skin-deep approval while in public, meanwhile planning an exit strategy. Maybe I'm wrong and it was a piercing sense of morality that caused him to want to escape but that too is a way to resist a charismatic sociopath.
It’s really interesting to listen to this and at first think “who cares what you have to say. You’re a killer and a terrorist”. Then you hear why he joined, what he thought he was doing, etc. Then how he set out to leave immediately after it was apparent this was not what aligned with his goals nor “right” in any way. It took me a second to detach and think, Americans like me were your target, but you still had no intention of hurting the people you considered civilians and innocents. You have to take a step back, see it from a different view and really decide if you wouldn’t have taken the EXACT same steps in his position. Very interesting and very refreshing to look at this and see a different perspective.
