When Lady Gaga sings this song. She is telling her own story. However, when Lea sings this song. She is expressing in the way she is retelling the story of a couple who has the same situation like Gaga. They are both beautiful, but in different ways.
Pakhtoon Nangyaal Gaga was about to record this song and got news her best friend was in critical condition and wasn't going to make it and Gaga rushed out to see her and missed her by 15 minutes and went back to record this song so yea.. it has a lot of raw emotion from Gaga that even lea with such a beautiful can't capture..
I love Lea Salonga. She's the best technical singer in the Philippines. No one can beat her vocal technique here in the ph. She never strains/screams her voice to reach high notes like many ph singers
CCJ CCJ I Mean, She is almost never Strain when sustaining high notes above C5 like so many ph singer. Most Ph singer(female) can only support high notes up to C5. So I think she's the best technical singer in the Ph. And about 4:35 LOL The notes is already so high, Not even Gaga can resonate notes that high ... .. What I know is Lea can only support and resonate notes up to D5 or maybe Eb5..
Lea's voice is superb, incomparable, hands down. But no one could give it rawer emotions other than Gaga herself. Gaga has her own signature on this song. But regardless, amazing rendition by Ms. Lea Salonga. Clap clap.
It's because when gaga wrote it she was mentally destroyed. Her best friend died and she missed her by 15 min. She went back to the set and recorded the song😭😭😭
@@jovytas6989 they have different vocal ranges. Ms. Lea interpreted it in her own way. Of course, Lady Gaga's version, as the original, is more raw and emotional esp with her raspy voice. Ms. Lea doesn't have that in her voice due to her classical and musical theater background. It's the same way Lady Gaga cannot sing "A whole new world" from Aladdin, "Reflection" from Mulan and songs from Ms. Saigon like Ms. Lea (the original) does. They're different so their interpretations will be different. P.S. I think Lady Gaga would definitely listen to a Tony Award winner interpreting her song. 😊

You can tell about midway through the second verse she’s bunching her phrases together as a signal to the conductor to speed it up cause he was going too slow. But he never got the hint so she had to use muscle memory combined with the slower tempo which must have been SO hard live. She pulled it off like a champ though. That was dope.

Technically very adept singing and interpretation of the song by Lea Salonga. But the RAW emotion of Lady Gaga losing her best friend to cancer the morning of the take in the film can never be recaptured, even by LG herself.
Lea's edge has always been her crystal clean tone and her strong foundations in vocal performance in theatre. Her impeccable enunciation of lyrics, mastery of breath control, knowledge of musicality and discipline have allowed her to be so consistent. She also has to be one of most disciplined singers who takes care of her voice and strives for excellence. Because in the end, she knows and believes that it is the MUSIC that is most important. She never attempts to outshine the music and place herself before it. Her integrity as a performer has led to her remain relevant and well respected.

She has a lot more control and choice of tone, because she has a higher soprano voice. She can do beautiful things that Lady GaGa will never be able to do in that range. But in this song, Lady Gaga uses the imperfections in that range, her breaks and airy placement to create vulnerability. Lea Salonga is on the opposite spectrum on this song. She has perfect control. Just as an opera singer. That is a whole different experience. If Lady Gaga wanted to do that, she would have pitched the entire song way down. But vulnerability is the very essence of that song. Gaga is a spectacular singer with a stunning deep alto voice and huge range. Not taking away from Lea Salonga - she has crystalline highs. Beautiful soprano voice, very smooth in the highs and across the entire range.
If Gaga sees this, she will be honored to see someone so talented, so powerful in music industry singing her song. Lea absolutely gave justice to this song 🙌

Totally agree. Dito sa Pinas ang birit ang basehan ng talent and skills. Kung sa choreography pa ng sayaw, puro tricks nalang, wala ng interpretation ng message of the music through the use of body. Kadalasan yung kanta nabababoy na ng singer sa kaka birit, yung emotions ng kanta lost na, it’s just puro pakitang gilas, wala nang quality.
