Wonderful tutor and beautiful voice too…. I’m 86 years old and have half-heartedly played around with a uke for some years. Now unable to do a lot of my hobbies , finding this Joe Brown song on RU-vid the other day has revived my interest and I’m delighted to have found your video too. So I’ve set myself a challenge to master this , thanks to your very clear presentation and beautiful chords . It’s given me something to aim for 😁👍
This is the song, sung by Joe Brown at the end of that concert, that brought me to the ukulele. I've been struggling with it on my own & was just going to watch Joe Brown play it again, when your video popped up. Wow! I've made more progress this past hour & a half than I have all the time I've been working on it !!! You are a brilliant teacher & I am thrilled to have stumbled upon you. Thank you! Stunning voice, by the way.
I saw Joe play in St Albans just before lockdown really just to see him play this fantastic old song but the whole night was pure magic. The man's a true legend. I believe it became more important to him after his first wife Vicki died of breast cancer. It's one of those songs that you can play on a uke after a few hours practice and seeing Joe play it a few years ago gave me the urge to start playing the uke myself but to play it well? That takes talent and the luck to be blessed with a decent voice. Sadly I have neither but it doesn't stop me trying.
this is one of my favourite songs. the tutorial is excellent and you have a lovely voice too! thank you....hopefully if i practise hard i will be able to play this too! thank you!
i have been playing guitar and bass for 3 years, and this has always been the song i have been wanting to get a ukulele for, thank you for the tutorial,it was beautifull ,i am glad this is my first ukulele song
You've talked me into buying a ukelele for Christmas. Your a brilliant teacher. You and David Potts are the best. Keep those songs coming. I do like the song Mr Bo Jangles played on the guitar. Your a great teacher.
Very cool showing us this - though it gets you misty eyed thinking of young George. The Beatles were big fans of Joe Brown and George Formby. George was once president of the George Formby Preservation Society. Imagine going to a club meeting and there would be a Beatle!!! He used to carry 2 ukes when he travelled in case anybody wanted to join in. :) A real cute song to learn would be Chinese Laundry Blues. I can already do it but would be interested in your take on it.
I always thought this song was beyond me -- hard, complicated. Not at all! It's a pleasure to play. Gosh, I'm exhilarated to be able to do this without much angst.
Love this song. Even bought a nice uke and this song was a big part of the plan. Really like your instructionals - So with your help this is all going to come together. Happy to be here.
Brilliant my friend. What you showed is the most important way, and emphasis on how to hear and feel the music, and of course learn the bit. From Washington State USA, your friend, Jim.. btw love your voice. Cheers .
Okay, this was posted a year ago so I am very late to the party but... this is a fabulous tutorial! I'll echo the comments of others here: You're a gifted teacher. Thanks for posting a video that I expect to be returning to often.
Hi Ben, Just stumbled across your channel and have subscribed. This song is one of my all time favourites and your tutorial in this Key is just class🙏 I managed to get on top of the song in the key of C but have to be honest, the key you (and Joe) play it in is so much more fulfilling AND a lot more tricky, so practice and practice for me to crack it. I’m a guitarist of some 60 years and took up the Uke around 3 years ago. I also recently bought an 8string Baritone. Love your channel and look forward to learning many more songs in your style of teaching. PRICELESS. Paul 🇬🇧
I am using your lesson for ukulele to learn this on guitar. I am a singer more than a guitarist and finding musicians to play songs that I want to sing is very difficult. Anyway, this lesson is very good. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Very god walk through of this amazing song, thank you. You did , however miss out the little riff at the end - the single note picking part, which just rounds off the song very nicely. Thanks again for going through this song for us.
Thanks for the lesson, I've been trying to figure out Joe Browns version for a while I'm not cut out to sing that high though. The Seasons Greetings to you and your followers fro South Australia. Cheers.
This wonderful song was sang to close the famous " Concert for George " in 2002 to pay tribute to George Harrison who passed away one year earlier! This was a very touching moment, thank you...🙏🙏🙏
I'm impressed. I play the song in a different manner as so many players do with so many songs. If you have a tab with chord boxes, I'll purchase if you contact me. Thanks either way. Nice work.
I used to listen to this song which was sung by Pat Boone. His version of this song was in the different Key. Could you be kind enough to demonstrate with that key please? Thanks a lot! Btw, this message is sent to you from Hong Kong.
