Magnus life took a drastic turn. He lost $25 million, suffered a painful divorce, and landed in the hospital. It was a dark time, and his mental health was severely impacted. My chat with him delves into his journey within the Kenyan context and the crucial role mental health played in my recovery.
mental health disorders:
The stress and heartbreak triggered mental health challenges I hadn't faced before. This video explores those disorders and the impact they had on my life.
mental health awareness:
Mental health is too often overlooked. I want to use my story to raise awareness about mental health struggles and the need for more resources and understanding.
mental health talk:
Let's have an open conversation about mental health. Share your own experiences and perspectives in the comments below.
mental health motivation:
You can find a way back, even from your lowest point. My story is about hope, resilience, and the strength to rebuild.

I love the way we are uncomfortable with hearing people's truth and seeking to understand them without making conclusions and recommendations. We tell people to own their stories and their journeys but want to censor what that looks like. We want to tell people how to carry their loads just because we cannot relate or take offence. We want to control people's feelings, and put their brokenness or healing in a bottle because we cannot make peace with the fact that healing and rebuilding are messy. Thanks, Jagero for holding space for everyone even when it makes the audience uncomfortable, change doesn't always come from controlled spaces, It comes from people being brave enough to face ruins and finding the beauty left in that mess to start creating new things.

I can tell his father had a great influence on him either out of fear or simply compliance. He picked this as a template for his life ideologies. We need to interrogate where our downfalls are and change course. All the best.

There are so many women who have been breadwinners and whose husbands just walked out on them. I've always been the breadwinner, but I learnt the tough way, decided to be alone and work on myself. Celibate for more than 10 years now and loving it.

Hey Mercy, thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you've been through a lot. There are definitely many women who've faced similar situations, and it's important to have those conversations. Finding strength and independence after a difficult experience is truly inspiring. I'd love to hear more about how focusing on yourself has been rewarding for you. On the channel, we've explored different perspectives on relationships and finding fulfillment. Maybe there's a part that resonates with your journey?

I rarely leave comments behind but wow! I can’t believe how such a bright man has not taken his time to heal. I’m a divorcee,who got remarried after working on myself. All the relationships before healing never worked out at all!Please take your time to reconnect with yourself and accept to be helped. Until then you’d never have any working relationship of your calibre.

Indeed. Introspection and taking time WITH yourself can heal the soul. He is still carrying the hurt so many years after. I also don't think he is being candid about losing money, going to rehab and paying bills. His wife may have been carrying that burden. In any case, she isn't in the interview to speak for herself.

This is a hurt man who hasn't healed 😢, he has a lot to work on, himself and mindset coz wueh.. I don't think any woman can put up with all this, plus money isn't everything, you can be rich and still be humble and love your woman without getting more other women 😊
@Regkioko12

But he is expressing himself. Talking about one's flaws, mistakes and lessons picked doesn't mean he hasn't healed. Relationships are a matter of interest, as a man that has gone through a relatively similar experience, I share his thoughts. Men invest a lot in relations especially to a woman that they genuinely love, when they are disappointed at some point, they heal but pick very hard lessons for future relationships.
@TheJagero

That's an interesting perspective! While the character might be a bit rough around the edges, is there anything specific in the video that makes you think he's coming from a place of hurt? I'm always curious to hear different interpretations. And you're absolutely right about money and humility.

Thanks Justina for reaching out and sharing your concern. Grief can definitely cloud judgment and make it difficult to form healthy relationships. We understand your worry that this man might not be emotionally ready to date someone new. Patience with oneself and others who are going through loss is important. At DWJ, we encourage open conversations about mental health. We believe seeking professional help is a sign of strength, not weakness. It's also important to remember that everyone grieves differently. There's no right or wrong way to heal. On the other hand, some people find solace in companionship after loss. Perhaps you could suggest some resources for grief counseling in the comments below? Let's create a supportive community where we can be understanding and offer encouragement.

Our grand fathers had so many wives BUT they knew that they would not cater to the sexual needs of all those women so you would always find a small "run away gate" at the back of the woman's house which was built by the husband (to basically cater for the other men) .... but i guess thats a conversation that these modern polygamous men are not ready to have... wanting too many women they cant take care of...

I feel the pain in his words but when the Lord heals , he heals indeed. do not press for things to happen just move on, we are all different, sometimes we dial "wrong number" but that does not mean that all people are like that. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful comment. You're absolutely right, healing is a journey, and it often takes many forms. Supporting someone's healing can look different for everyone. Counseling can be a powerful tool, and for some, faith can also be a source of strength. It's important to respect each person's path. While we may not understand another's experiences, we can offer compassion and support. You make a great point - sometimes things don't work out, but that doesn't mean we give up on ourselves or others.

Lol this man got cheated on by his wife but he is a proponent of polygamy. Why couldn’t he allow his wife be polyamorous in peace? But I love his way of thinking. Nobody should kill another for a relationship. This soulmate thing is a fallacy. There’s a lot to learn from him.
@HardlyTalk
@HardlyTalk 3 месяца назад
Polygamy and cheating are not synonymous, modern society has made them so. Polygamy always had structures to it, you had procedures to follow if you spotted someone you were interested in and they had to be accepted and respect the women they met in those homes but cheating is ruthless. But we are at a point where we want to glorify unkindness and ruthlessness to each other simply because we are incapable of being accountable, having compassion and extending basic human decency. That said polygamy wasn't always rosy in most homes, that we can accept and challenge such arrangements
@TheJagero
@TheJagero Месяц назад
Maybe his ideal relationship dynamic just wasn't for everyone involved. But hey, at least he's coming at it from a place of understanding, even if it got messy. I agree, nobody deserves violence over love (or lack thereof). On the soulmate thing, there's definitely something to be said for strong connections, but maybe it's more about finding multiple awesome connections in life, not just one all-encompassing one.

Nothing hurts a man like a woman/ wife who has moved on and is happy without him 😅 so he is calling her all kinds of names, am sure the wife got fed up with his infidelity (which he is now blaming on her). I guarantee you,he was the one jumping from one woman to the other, disrespecting his wife, now that she has left and is happy it's really paining him 😅😅😅😅

It's true, there can be a bit of a double standard there. Sometimes in relationships, we grow and learn about what makes a good partner. On the flip side, it's also important for people to feel fulfilled in different aspects of life, not just relying on one person for everything [adds a different perspective]. What do you guys think? Is it unrealistic to expect one person to meet all your needs, or is communication key? Let's keep the conversation going in the comments.

a woman was never made to fend financially for her man and his family (bringing him from grace to grace) even if she has the resources it still doesn't sit right. Let state the fact there are other ways a woman can be a help to a man and grow with him so my dear no woman should be compelled to save a man and his family .

Finances are a partnership discussion. Open communication & shared goals are key for a healthy relationship. #couplesgoals

The problem with the interview,is that it was one sided.The former wife did not have her own separate interview.His story is one-sided.

What did I just listen to! Are we still on earth or am the one confused....so you're saying that one woman cannot satisfy you,but you think that one man can satisfy a woman!! No dear, don't be selfish.You are right,an individual cannot fully satisfy another person, either a man or a woman,but there are marriage covenants/laws that keep us disciplined....and once these laws are broken,there are repucations.
