I compared the price of this service to my BMW dealership cost and the dealership cost is around $200 cheaper for a replacement key fob and deactivation of missing key fob. I would recommend reaching out to dealerships to compare price of service.

So if I buy a BMW E39 with no key, am I out of luck? P.O. has back registration but is giving it away to me. I don't know how I'd get the car under my name without the key. Any help? I probably need to smog it to get the title transferred.

Hi, I bought a bmw 2014 328i from a dealer auction and the announcement on it said “keys could not be programmed” if I buy a key from bimmer tech could that key work?

Our keys are BMW originals, so yes, they will come already programmed for your specific BMW.

I have a E90 328i, the last owner never put in the key Cylinder bacc in the door and the central locking fuse is blown.. is there a way to get back in the car through the driver door even if the key cylinder isn’t in the door ?

Hello, it depends on the particular car. To access the car you will either need to use car locksmith services or access the car through the trunk/passenger car (if the lock is there). Later you will need to place the key cylinder or put the new fuse to make it possible to open your car remotely :)

If I lost my keys and buy a new one from you guys do I need to deactivate my old key? Or if I don’t I could risk someone taking my car. In this case it’s lost in my woods in the county of my house so the chances of someone finding them are slim. Anyway if I don’t have my key can I still activate my new key without my old key?

Yes, if your vehicle comes with Comfort Access, we can code the new key fob to work with it, this coding needs to be added to your purchase from the list of add ons and a coding cable will be also necessary so if you don’t count with a suitable one please add it as well. www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-key-fob

I just purchase a bmw 320i 2006 and the old owner lost the only key but then has purchased another bmw ecu or whatever you wanna call it and key can I get that programmed and the car will work?

Each OEM BMW keyfob is created and simultaneously pre programmed for a specific car’s VIN, so you can't reprogram it to work with another BWM due to the safety reasons → anti theft system. As for the ECU, we will need to know exactly what was bought (part number) and the VIN of the car in order to tell if we can help here.

I have a 2009 x5 I lost my key fob ordered a new one from bmw vin programmed and it didn’t work we called over a locksmith he let us know that it looked like one of the computer wasn’t allowing the key to connect he came today to program us a key but didn’t have luck he would be reaching out tomorrow with more information for us but if I take it to bmw do you know what the cost would be ?

Hi, that would be a question for the specific dealer you would like to use, the cost between their services may vary depending on the service and your region, not all dealers charge the same.

Hello, in case you lost your key fob, all you need to do is just order a new one from us. There are no other parts that will require replacement, assuming that they are OEM ones. After placing the order we will ask you to provide necessary documents for verification and after receiving the key you will need to perform the activation process, that's it :)

Hello, sure! If you have all the documents we can supply the key, however, there is one thing. If the previous owner replaced any part that holds the security key (like CAS module for instance) with used from another vehicle or not OEM part, it will not start as long as you will not put the OEM (or purchase replacement OEM part specifically prepared for the particular car - it can be done through our company) module back. To determine if this is the case, the remote coding session is necessary, but it requires switching the car ignition on, so keys are required anyway - this way you will be able to put your car in 2nd position (in the worst case).

I had a key replace by local locksmith for my 2011 328i and he programmed it it unlocks doors and everything but only cranks won’t start and it worked when key was lost any thoughts ??

Hi Jaden, We are afraid that since this key is not a BMW dealership or a reputable third-party reseller, such as BimmerTech. There isn’t much we can do here to help, key fobs when purchased from BMW are already programmed according to your vehicle.

What about the key blade? I don't see any mention of that here. Just because you can program the fob doesn't mean the work is done, need to cut the key blade as well or if your battery dies you'll be SOL.

How can I show my registration when it's locked inside my glove box???? I have a pink slip, but doesn't everyone keep their registration in the glove box? I would love for someone to 'splain this to me cuz I am locked out :-

We cannot proceed with any orders without the proof of ownership, the following documents are accepted: Valid vehicle registration, certificate of title, bill of sale not older than one month. If you cannot access the interior of your vehicle to get the registration since you missed your key, a locksmith would come in handy

When you get your problem resolved, start carrying your registration in your purse/wallet. I have always done this instead of keeping it in the glovebox........reason? If someone steals your car, they also have your registration. Unless you keep a spare, it is useful information when you make your police report.

If your car is locked and you do not have a working key to open it, you will need to add the key blade option to your order to be able to open the car. The new key will be already pre programmed for your vehicle however it needs to be activated from the inside of your car to work.

So, a $gram and 2 weeks easily? Get AAA to unlock the door. Get u guys to remotely disable old key (how? laptop running ista + DK can cable,. and teamviewer?). Order new key and mechanical blade. Get a remote session to activate the comfort access? Faster to go to local BMW dealer?

Im curious. The car was locked. Then you just got in... With an unmatched fob? What am I missing. My rrllacement BMW fob didnt open the car, and the jey blade opened the door, but set off the alarm, which pit the car in "deadbolt" mode. BMW is clueless.

The fob shown in the video matches the car. When you order it, it's already programmed for your car. However, you'd need to activate it to start the engine.

@@bimmer-tech the car was locked. How did he get in with an unmatched fob? I literally just went through this with BMW last week. The car locked with the former fob, gets set off upon unlocking with the key. Then the new fob cannot be matched,as the car has gone into "deadbolt" mode.

@@bimmer-tech turns out, BMW didn't put a fresh batter in my replacement FOB. 3 DAYS headache, 6 sick hours off work, 1 of my 5 tows from AAA dediated to getting my i3 to the dealer for them to tell me they forgot to check the Fob battery. UN-BE-LIEAV-ABLE. BMW is TERRIBLE at helping people that fall outside the standard "drop off your car and credit card and your car will work again after a few days and few thousand dollars" model for their wealthy clients.

Hey! One option you mentioned is Key Fob Replacement - you might need it when you damage your key and want to replace it. The second, less pricey option, is about key deactivation. You might need it when you lose you key and you'd like to erase it from car's memory :)
