Petter and Steve define what online influencers should really be about - sharing the thoughts, feelings and experiences of the genuinely gifted. Big shout to Steve's (former?) boss and owner of that beautiful TBM for being kind enough to allow us on board so much over the past few years.

can i ask something? i know some people are more well-off than others, but how does one even pay for flight training? i’ve spoken to a few flight schools in the past couple weeks and even a few lessons are completely unattainable for me
@helixspiral
@helixspiral 9 месяцев назад
@@yammmit Unfortunately it's very expensive. Depending on how many hours it takes to get to your checkride, it can be $20,000 or more to get a PPL. You can finance it just make sure you know what that means for budgeting.

@HiddenWindshield
@HiddenWindshield 9 месяцев назад
@@yammmit Commercial training is a lot more expensive than private, but there are companies that will pay for your training in exchange for you agreeing to work for them for X number of years. Might be worth it to contact airlines and charter companies to see if anything like that is available. In addition, since flight school is, after all, a _school,_ there are scholarships available.
@Primus54
@Primus54 9 месяцев назад
@@yammmitFrom everything I’ve read and seen, the commercial airline industry is desperate for pilots. I have to believe this will open up some creative ways to get the necessary training. Perhaps even student loans similar to those available for colleges are an option or might become so in the not too distant future. I’m a retired baby boomer and know that many of the commercial pilots of my generation got their training by joining the military. However, unless something has changed, you need a 4-year degree to fly in the Air Force, Navy, and Marines. I’m not sure about the Army’s requirement for rotor aircraft. If you really want to do this, make it an unshakable goal and start researching. I always wanted to be a pilot but unfortunately my nearsightedness disqualified me from military or commercial acceptance, as there was no such thing as laser eye surgery way back then. Lol. Good luck!

I don’t usually comment on videos, but I wanted to give you a special thanks. I used to watch your videos at work during lunch, or I’d have one playing in a window on my secondary monitor if I had some CAD work to do (don’t know why exactly, but I found that I can still concentrate reasonably well on design work while listening to classical music or aviation vlogs... everything else is a big distraction.) I think It was the ones where you were flying to the Caribbean that really got the hooks in me, so I finally decided to stop daydreaming about it, go down to the local airport and earn my pilots license. I was 58 at the time and I remember my wife giving me the, “I want to support you, but are sure this is a good idea?” look ; ) I’m not going to lie, it was harder than I thought it would be, and I didn’t think It was going to be easy. Your videos gave me confidence, and inspiration to keep going. In particular your flight to some small island and landing in a super strong, gusty crosswind commenting that it was nothing for the local pilots who flew down there all the time. I’m sixty now, working on my instrument rating, have made some awesome new friends through a flightclub I joined (we fly an old piper warrior so no TBMs for now ; ) Without your inspiration at just the right time I’d still just be daydreaming about it, or worse, just given up on the dream and let it die with all my other high minded plans. Thanks Steve, Keep the blue side up.

I'm only 1:55 into the video so hopefully there's a silver lining in this cloud! Edit: Man, it feels like you're losing an old friend.. You've been quite the ambassador for Daher-Socatta aviation products obviously, but also for Southern Florida and in particular, Opa Locka, Fort Lauderdale Executive and Pompano Airpark and the surrounding communities that you've flown over. Many of the viewers knew little about the TBM product line or 850, but now they certainly do. Same thing with the airfields and FBOs your job took you to. We are all indebted to you for the insights you've shared over the last 10 years. Your earnestness, candor and no-nonsense attitude and narratives are much appreciated. You've also exposed us to a number of interesting people over the years. There are many video bloggers on this medium that use aviation as their platform for broadcasting and letting the viewer into an aspect of their private lives......know that many of us are extremely appreciative of the time, effort, and dedication associated with your videos and with letting us share a bit of your life experiences. Take care, Steveo, and best of luck in the future.

I'll look for your aviation reincarnation Steveo. As a 40 year pilot and 22 year Flight Instructor, my favorite thing also was taking friends and family members on a flight somewhere for parts, or pickup a pax or whatever I was doing for the boss that left an empty seat. On my Private Pilot check-ride I got my Certificate and I was taxiing out from Joe Rose, the Examiner's base airport just as the sun was dropping below the horizon. I had a 50 minute flight to my home base, grass strip airport (NC14) in Boone, NC. up in the Appalachian Mountains. about 15 minutes into the flight home I had a total electrical failure. I flew on home and put my pocket flashlight in my mouth and kept it pointed at the airspeed indicator. We had a security light at the beginning of the runway that let me see to land. I'm w/ you... power failures are a BUMMER! Keep us advised. Happy landings.

Hey Steve, thank you so much for sharing your video about the sale of one of your best friends (851TB) and announcing your next adventure. I can only imagine what it felt like when you received the news that this relationship would end. As a private pilot I have a know a little bit of how you must feel when one day I saw the plane I soloed in, in a sad state of disrepair. However that doesn't compare with ending a relationship that's been part of your life for over a decade. It's ironic how you announced your news during the TBM 850 annual. The irony is the bad news and the good news. Just like the TBM annual, being torn apart, analyzed from head to toe, checking all critical parts that are needed to make the whole aircraft flight worthy, adjusted, repaired, improved and re-assembled better than new, you too are going through the same phase, torn apart, assessing, re-assembling and coming out better than new. You got this Steve and we all look forward to sharing in your next adventures. Fly high and in the radar! (Roy)

You're a good man and she's a good plane and you two had chemistry. I'm sad to see that end as you are. I'll be right here looking forward to what's next. But for today, cheers to a special airplane.

Huge fan of your channel. A word of encouragement. In 1998 I unexpectedly lost my job. It took a minute to get my footing but when I did, it led to the most satisfying career move of my life--work that I still do today. I would NEVER be doing what I'm doing now if one of the worst days of my life had not happened. Very best wishes.

So sad…. I’m a 68 year old with my private ticket that hasn’t flown since around 2003 and am still so much into aviation…. So much that I have now worked at MQS since I retired from the VA in 2011. I always look forward to your videos that are both informative and just down right fun to watch…. Can’t wait for your next adventure to begin. Thank you for sharing your career with all of us. Till then, take care!!!

Of course everyone has heard the line "when one door closes another door opens." It has happened to me, out of the clear blue sky I was offered another position which actually was a career improvement. Apparent to everyone you love what you do and you are obviously a talented pilot. I suspect there will be limited down time and life goes on, usually for the best. Best of luck.

I just posted this on Max’s latest video, but I give props to both you, Max and Premier1D for helping me with my flying anxiety. I’d get near panic attacks for years upon take off but I’ve learned so much from you 3 that knowledge of what’s going on during the entire flight helps ease my mind and no longer have the anxiety I used to the. My last flight in June was a no big deal. So for this I thank you. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

I am sure the owner of 851TB is as sad ad you are too! What a great run you had together! You have done a beautiful job of serving your passengers and performing your job as a pilot with such a high degree of professionalism and courtesy. I imagine there was a great bidding war to try to get you as pilot on your next venture. If there was ever the perfect interview for your new job your videos are it. You showed all of us how a pilot thinks along the way from getting your clearance, making decisions in the air, perfect landings and even bonus activities between flights. You have been and continue to be an amazing ambassador for aviation and I am sure hundreds of new pilots have been inspired by you and your love for aviation. Keep up the good work and thanks for devoting so much time and energy to give us such amazing videos.

Steveo...Sorry to hear that N851TB will not be in your logbook anymore. It's like losing a fmaily member, and you looked and sounded just a little bit sad in this vid. We all understand your feelings, however, as this airframe has been such a big part of your professional life, both in aviation and in your social media gig. We probably wouldn't have ever been able to get to see all of your wonderful videos over the years w/out 1TB, so all of us will miss her, too! It sounds like you will be occupying another seat (hopefully the left one) soon, and I for one cannot wait to see what this new enveador has in store for you. So glad that you will be able to continue your social media pursuits in this new position. All the best moving forward!

In all due respect, she should not watch somebody on the verge of crying when he just lost his job...and is 100% certain to find another one soon...Really not a good example for your kid...Not the way to build a great future for her...Tell her instead it's a jungle out there and fight her way...Come on dad...You can do better. Really disappointed with Steveo...Really thought he was more mature...And come on, telling us the airplane almost killed him...because the landing gear refused to deploy and the problem was solved 5 minutes later by hand pumping...If you want role models in aviation for your daughter, tell her about the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronauts...not Steveo...If she wants RU-vid influencer role model, yes, Steveo is a great one.

Thank you for taking the time to update us on the changes taking place. I can't describe how much I have appreciated your videos. As much as I would love to learn how to fly, I can't, because I only have usable vision in one eye and I'm colorblind as well. So I have been vicariously flying through you, which is why I appreciate so much how you show exactly what you are doing and you tell us what you are thinking as a pilot. You have cameras to show the instruments, you explain what they mean, and how you use them to fly the aircraft. You explain how you use the yoke with all the switches and the foot pedals as well. It's as close to flying as I will ever get, and for that, I can't thank you enough. I have no doubt you will find another job that is at least as rewarding as flying N851TB, your resume speaks for itself. I am looking forward to your next adventure, I'm sure it will be amazing.

What a crazy thing to think about Steve. I first remember watching your videos when I was in flight training back in 2017, and you, alongside with the likes of Flight Chops and others helped motivate me to become a better student and professional pilot. I thought you would be happy to hear that I have now been working as a flight instructor for four years, and gone up through the ranks to the highest instructor grade here in Australia, and recently completed my multi engine rating. What a rewarding career it has been so far, and I am forever thankful for your videos and insights. I can't wait to see whats next for the both of us! Best wishes mate.
