CANCER took Tina’s nose but not her fighting spirit. After the 43-year-old from Texas was diagnosed with nasal cancer, she made the difficult decision to undergo a full rhinectomy to remove her nose. At first, Tina struggled with how she looked to others and wore a prosthetic, despite it being uncomfortable for her to do so. But with the support of her loving husband and children and an incredible determination to strengthen her self-confidence, Tina embraced her beauty. Now she is inspiring others. Tina told Truly: “From the moment we're born, society tries to fit us in a box of what is acceptably beautiful, what is acceptably appeasing to the eyes, and I want to shatter that box. I want to destroy it. I don't want anybody to ever feel like they're not beautiful.”

I commend you for owning your beauty & story. I was 21yrs old when my nose started collapsing & the doctors in my area just mistreated me & blew me off, it's been 16yrs now & I have no nose or prosthetic & I struggle every day with staying confident in myself. Exactly, to be fair nobody is ugly but just different, humans are scared by the unknown and everything that is unusual for adaptive reasons and for this they are scared or repelled by it,although we evolved to a point that we don't need to be scared of people that have unusual qualities because there are much more reliable(and more human) factors that help us to trust others

Who remembers that episode of The Outer Limits where this woman was waiting to see if her plastic surgery worked and all the doctors were saying if it didnt work she would have to go live on a special island for horrifyingly ugly people so she wouldnt disturb people. She gets the bandages off and she is stunningly beautiful, but she starts to scream and cry. And then you see that everyone else has these crazy pig faces and they're all crying and shocked at her "ugliness".

Wow what a warrior! Heart and mind of steel! True strength. I've had an issue with my nose forever, have had all sorts happen to it + surgery and it kills my self esteem, like today but coming across this video has given me some strength seeing how brave Tina is. It shows that as long as you're confident in your character that's what matters.

This woman is so awesome for coming out and sharing her story. I'm sure it helps others going through similar, if not the same, issues. May God bless her and keep her. It hit me in the feels when she spoke about not being able to smell her loved ones again. I lost my sense of smell back in 2008. I can't smell anything, not even the most potent smell e.i., gasoline, garlic, smoke, dog mess, etc. It does suck not bring able to smell my mom when I hug her goodbye, she used to always smell of the cover girl blush and eyeshadow. To not smell bread while its baking, roses given to me, the smell that happens before it rains. To go to th3 beach and see i am there, but not bring able to SMELL that I'm there. I tell people, like like not living life at a 100%, to see, feel, and hear my surroundings, but to not smell them, it really takes away from moments and memories. Smells are a huge trigger for memories. I have a boyfriend now, and I wish I knew his smell. Secret: I always have a friend or my mom smell any potential mate for me secretly, because I remember when I could smell, people would LOOK clean, but had a really offputting/bad smell. My new boyfriend got approval from mom, for not having an unpleasant natural scent.

So glad she shared this my mom just went thru jaw removal and partial lip removal and reconstruction… not sure what results to expect but as long as she’s still here and heals from it all that’s what matters!!! I also came across a woman without a nose just a week after my moms surgery and it was a shock but I will say she carried herself with confidence that I admire!!!!

I also think from the way it looks, the doctor took into consideration its aesthetics somehow - it's perfectly symmetrical and they didn't just made a hole on her face. It actually looks natural, at least for me. As the other person said, she don't look ugly at all, she just looks different. And her confident personality is the most attractive part about her.

I think this really shows that how we perceive someone - our first impression - is at least 65% that persons essence, her spirit, her persona shining through. We've all seen people who are perfectly gorgeous, but when they open their mouth to speak, it just shatters like a cast revealing an ugly, bitter, or hauty essence or spirit. However, this women's face is just so pretty with or without her nose, because she's just so radiant! I love videos like this, because they lesson the shock factor, & remind us what's really important.
