Hello Lads, how are we all??
The R8 has gone and I was hankering for another Hot Hatch to try out, this is where Renault stepped in and offered this little rocket. This is the new Renault Megane RS 300 Trophy
Not going to lie I have never really been a girl into French cars but I really wanted to give this one a go.. I had this one for a couple of weeks to see how I got on with it. This is part one of 2 as we all know you can't properly road test a hot hatch in the city!
I also took a trip to my local classic car club in East London as I haven't been for a while and I wanted to check in on that Cherry Red Stingray I have been fantasising over for a while...

Queen B for London especially, anything more than 150bhp is for “lowz & likez fam” One question though, if there isn’t an element of risk of loosing ones licence, at least a couple of times a day, are you even driving? Or taking the bus?

My daily has 200kw/350nm and I can hardly touch the throttle before speed limit. So on my fav super twisty road I prefer something like a 100kw 1 ton car you can go 100% in.... ring light👍 That RS is sweet looking, just a bit different, will go test one.

I wish they would make 3 doors. I think hot Hatches look better with 3 doors.. 300 hp is plenty...

James dixon Disagree, I have a 5 door and do neither school runs or family. I prefer the look to the 3 door and would say I am a hot hatch purist

I have a last off the line m140i never intended to buy one but when I saw it in 3 door I was sold, had it 6 months as I post this nobody has sat in rear seats so extra doors would be pointless

I would argue a hot hatch is not about 1-2-3 blast. I would say it's about how it feels in the twisties.

I think that 200hp and 200ft lbs of torque and a well sorted chassis, and no more than 1200 kgs in weight is the perfect hot hatch , and that no matter what the weather , you always bring a ray of sunshine to the internet with your videos

I had (Still have really) a soft spot for the Renault 5 GT turbo. I sort of destroyed that when I was 4 up in my Revo Ibiza back in the day, and left one no where to be seen. Since then I’ve struggled with french cars, always had a lot of respect for the megane but never wanted one. Nice to see they have dropped the Perspex windows and made it a proper car. Interested to see what your thoughts are on it? I did say you’d have more fun down the 300bhp range 😛. Were they your lines in the car park 😂

Nice motor - love a hot hatch, 300 to 350 bhp is usable on the street and motorway and a manual is a must.

Great choice, I worked on it myself (exterior lighting) and I personally prefer the candy red "Rouge flamme" paint. It's a good daily sports car with loads of practicality yet enough oomph to have fun on a daily basis. I you really want one after testing it, wait for the phase 2 that is arriving soon enough. Anyway, enjoy the car, test it on good twisty countryside roads and if you can, take it to a racetrack, otherwise you won't be able the take it to the limit. Have fun ! :D

I think hatchbacks look hotter in 2 doors. Gives it a more sportier look. That place has some really nice cars I love that classic Mercedes. Thanks for sharing!

Until you want to actually use the practicality of having a hatchback and carry passengers. Super inconvenient having the driver's seat moved and having to get out to allow passengers in.

The Citroens have hydropneumatic suspension using LHM (a mineral oil) under pressure which controls the suspension, the power brakes and the power steering, it gave such a good ride Rolls Royce used the technology under licence from Citroen. My daily driver Citroen BX has the same system in it ! :D

Queen B have you seen the limited edition track focused magane rs trophy there bringing out??. its got lot of carbon fibre plus coilovers bigger brakes and special tyres cost tho is like £70.000. Only few coming to uk.

Only one that is coming to the UK is a £70k car with the Carbon fibre wheels. Most are £52k and don't have those or the carbon ceramic brakes. Should be an awesome car.

I'd thought you'd mention the fact that Renault have created a bespoke, wider-track chassis for the RS, as its around 70mm wider than that of the standard Megane. Not many manufacturers go to those lengths when creating a sports version of their standard car. Am glad you liked the car though. The Germans will never match the excitement of the French sports cars

Well HP is only useful when you use it!? Got an Rs3, dry, wet, greasy you can drive however you want, safely but fast! So if the car grips and goes get the most HP you can 😄 Had an M140 for a few weeks, great torque but what a bitch in the wet!

On the last Megane the color was that Jaune sirius 2 metalic and non metalic which was an awesome color but it's not the same as the new Megane... It's a shame... I do still prefer mk3 than mk4 because of the engine, power steering... And they could of removed a bit of weight with that turbo,crankshaft and hood... When I saw the throtle responce on that ferrari pista I think... The lost some weight not much but it gain that low end power...🤔 Plus if the went with a billed crankshaft it is cheaper to manufacture and they would lose 10 to 20 kg that's alot... But eh... That's how you can afford the carbon hood and the carbon sway bar and a lighter turbo... If you look at it for a bit... You can see you lost maybe 30 to 40 kg at the front and you could still use that 2.0 L inline 4... It's just my opinion... Don't judge my engineering moment😂 I'm still a kid...Oh and they could of went with the 3 door...

Hi 👋. If you can you need to tack the megane RS on a track day 😍. That is where you will find out what it's all about. all Renault are track weapons. There isn't a lot can go around a track like them 👍🏼.
