Me and my mom have been DYING to go to Dubi... if my mom had the choice she would probably live there too lol... its so beautiful... as far as the heat... lol girrrrl it sounds like Houston, Texas to me lmao... THE REASON WHY DESALINATED WATER DAMAGES YOUR HAIR Hair in Desert climates Hair fall - A hot topic in Arabian Gulf countries In desert climates hair loss is a common complaint effecting both men and women from all nationalities and age groups. Doctors and hairdressers are used to complaints about falling hair. Women panic when they see vast amounts of hair on the shower floor and want to know the cause. One of the major reasons for hair loss in both men and women is due to the harmful effects of desalinated water. About desalinated water The main source of tap water in the Arabian Gulf is desalinated. Desalination is the process of removing salt from seawater to produce drinking water. However, increasing populations are polluting seawater causing additional bacteria growth. As a result, the treatment plants must add more chlorine to kill bacteria and then add lime (a calcium compound) to help control the chlorine levels. Whilst desalinated water is considered safe to drink, it causes many problems for hair. A common complaint in the Arabian Gulf from both men and women is the loss of hair. Chlorine in desalinated water Chlorine is found in tap water and in the swimming pools. It is a harsh oxidiser added to the water to kill bacteria and it adversely affects hair. Any build up at the mouth of the follicle may cause the hair to break off, followed by coating of the scalp and blocking further new hair growth. Active chlorine in the hair can cause hair to feel gummy when wet and straw-like when dry.

The cost of living is pretty similar to the UK, there is just more to buy and plenty of sales so its easy to spend a lot! Gas prices are SO much cheaper though which is amazing. We have a huge 4x4 at the moment, and it only costs about 20 quid to fill up a whole tank!
Currently in Dubai watching this because I really want to live here, God willing. Also even tho I am a Londoner and not an Emirati it still bothers me, it's just about having respect for the culture of the land you're on and respecting it.

Hi, I have just moved to Dubai from London and loving it! Quick question: Have you found any good hairdressers that you could recommend? I live in Marina and all the hairdressers I have visited only stock products for Caucasians. I desperately need to have my hair treated, cut and texturised...and no idea where to go. Online searches haven't been very helpful. Thanks

You would assume that no one cares, but as a national emirate its really upsetting when we see people not taking the laws so seriously. We obviously wont say a thing, but to some extent it is offensive.

This is very interesting i actually did a paper on the malls of dubai that most malls around the world are changing into more a one stop resort style shopping malls. I am sure that there are hotels attach to the malls as well. I would also like to see how your hair looks now it looks like it has grown a lot and did your hair regimen changed since you are a hot climate now.
