Ras Al Khaimah is the best place to live in, in the UAE, much much cheaper than Dubai, very quiet and a slower pace of life than the hustle and bustle of Dubai, still 40 minutes away. A hidden paradise.

I personally think that Dubai and the UAE are EXTREMELY cheap, I grew up btwn Lugano and NYC respectively the 6th and the 10th most expensive cities in the world, the world ranking for Dubai is @ 217th PLACE !!!!! I just love the overall vibe, cultural diversity and safety, and on top of it all the " getting things done " drive that that city has. I'm looking to buy some real estate there as an investment....it would be nearly impossible for me either in Switzerland or NYC. Thanks for your personal insight.

Come on ! Shopping and grocery is like X3 prices of nyc ! I lived in Manhattan and I’d say dubai is much more expensive ! Also the salary is like NYC salaries ! Post tax as well ! Also it’s still a third world country ! Except housing it’s cheaper and newer and more luxurious but it’s still expensive !

Mexico city is not expensive but people who lives there says it is expensive because they get paid so low. I think that's the situation in Dubai.

@Lilman Yellow I don't think it's right for anyone to determine a pay based on a nationality, if both an American and an Indian person do the same job, they should be paid equally regardless of their "struggles" back home, or how much debt one or the other is in...

To be honest even though people around the world make fun of how hot uae is. Even use citizens when they go to Eroupe or the west to study they still really miss home no matter how green or cold the west is. So I understand her.

Yh, they should do since huda beauty is a really popular makeup brand there and huda beauty has ALOT of foundation shades. Dubai is also really multicultural so a lot of makeup brands have multiple shades

Racism is reserved for asians (pakistanian,indian, Bangladesh, Phillipines etc.)in my experience. I'm a white american so you will be privileged in salaries, treatment etc. It's overt racism which is unfortunate because folks who have the largest expat population are asian, particularly indians.

'privilege' as it always is, is reserved for rich people no matter what ethnicity they are. I'm Indian and stayed at Jumeriah beach hotel as a tourist we were treated with the utmost respect because we stayed at an expensive luxury hotel. If we were construction workers in dubai then yes we would have been treated badly. This is the sad reality of life

If you have a British passport then you'll be treated better. Discrimination is primarily reserved for folks who are expats from Asian countries and passport holders and of course poor labor workers. If you're an educated westerner with a passport from the West you'll be fine. BTW don't get me wrong, it's not just Arabs who are discriminatory, British, Indians etc thrive in this environment as well. They too are quite discriminatory. You'll see ppl earning starkly different salaries for the same job because of where they are from. There are no wage laws or minimum wages that protect folks, especially Asian passport holders.

Depends on what part of Africa you're from and if you speak Arabic or not. South Africans do just fine. Arabic speaking Africans also fair better.

The U.A.E. monitors communications as a way of controlling dissent and terrorism, and the use of encryption in VoIP platforms like FaceTime makes that harder or impossible. Some people are nevertheless able to access them via virtual private networks, or VPNs. FaceTime isn't available on iPhones sold in the U.A.E., but can still work if the device was bought elsewhere.

in america i think the first 80k made outside of the country is federal tax free. i don’t know about individual state income taxes.

Sehar Hussain great questions! If you have an English driving license you won’t have to do an additional driving test. Instead, you’ll have to go to a government building to have a quick eye test then take your UK driving license and Emirates ID to a desk and they’ll make a driving license for you. As for my job, they didn’t give me a car, but because my school was part of a big network they had a deal on cars from a specific car company. Hope this helps!

mark lucas from what I’ve noticed during my visits there, it’s not too bad unless it’s rush hour so you should avoid certain areas during 6-8am and 5-7pm

I'm looking for safety for my 9 year old. In Romford the stabbings have gone up by 30% in the last year. Youths have moved in to our town from London and they carry machetes. The UK is really letting teenagers down. It makes me so sad to see it. Kids stabbing kids outside of the chicken shop????? Horrible. This is why I don't let my kid out in the street to play. Someone tried to kidnap us too in the local park. Not even joking. Me and my daughter together. UK has gone down the toilet.

Hello, I am wondering if the salary you're receiving based on your passport is only based on if you either come from in Europe/Asia/US, or if they make a difference between, let's say British passport and Polish passport? angela raj hi Angela - it is definitely safe to hire nannies as many women do; but as I don’t have kids I’m not sure where to recommend. If you join a Facebook group like ‘Dubai mums’ or ‘Brits in Dubai’ you can ask on the page and I’m sure many people will answer!

I just took a trip to Dubai, i was so shocked at the weather. The weather is crazy i couldn’t handle it, i was dripping in sweat. The people there are most definitely very nice only thing i didn’t like was i don’t recall going anywhere where people weren’t staring me down still asking myself why.. but besides that it was a beautiful place to visit

This was helpful! I'm considering teaching in Dubai and have been going on a hunt trying to find videos about everyone's experience. Did living there make it easier to travel/visit other countries? Also since the salary is tax-free, did that make it easier to save for when you go back home? Like, would the money you make out there help to pay off student loan debt, for example?

Crystal Byrd great questions. It is definitely much easier to travel to Africa and Asia from Dubai than it is from America or the UK - I went to Zanzibar and Sri Lanka and both were amazing! It is also possible to save a lot of money, especially if your accommodation is paid for, but you will have to fight the temptation of going to brunches and expensive meals which, trust me, is very hard lol! If you have a goal amount of money to save in mind it would be easy to pay it off with discipline :)

It is very easy to visit other countries, cause dubai is like in the middle of everything. I went to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Europe, Maldives, India, Africa, Sri Lanka, All of the UAE, and more while I was living in Dubai

I really really appreciate you talking about the simple things like phone calls in Dubai, and I clicked on this video because you're someone who looks like me and I wanted to hear your experience. You make me want to experience it so much and I've always wanted to visit and currently considering either moving there or Tokyo for a short while...but I'm gay so... I think I checked out after you said "illegal". I mean I don't plan on parading or waving a flag or holding hands with anyone there but if some guy approaches me to ask me out or wants to dance or whatever and I'm like "no, I'm a lez" , I'll get arrested??? Like I'll be in prison!?!? I'm too pretty for prison!

Omfg this is me to a T (apart from the looks haha!). I'm in the exact same situation and considering Tokyo too but I'm def leaning towards Japan as a safer option!

@@Lucy-wi4ny I've read alot of blogs and comments abt the UAE since this video about lesbians or women who are married to women who visit and some women who plan to visit, and they seem to think they are under-the-radar as long as they follow the public laws, no one asks questions and privacy still exists. As far as living there longer than a year, I haven't found anything yet except 1 report of an American girl who was arrested in Dubai for kissing another girl in public. Not sure how long but I did find out the other cities in the UAE are much more strict and men who are gay and from these areas call Dubai the "Gay Mecca" so they're taking those risks. Women don't really get seen. But I wouldnt take any long term chances. Oh btw, In my research, video calling/wifi calling off network or using a different IP address or IP blocker or VPN is SUPER illegal in Dubai. And the Gay scene is big on using them to connect to each other and for the underground parties... Like 10yrs in prison illegal plus whatever "gay chargers" they get on you. People who travel, blog and write that they use the VPNs, but don't do it even to network with other lezzies.

Let me be honest with you. my sister friends are mostly lesbians. No one got arrested. Being gay or laz doenst get you arrested but being sexual or having sex is. That's the case with stright people too. And I'm a citizen by the way and I grew up in an all girl school. And let's not joke around sometimes girls suddenly turn gay in all girls schools and I think it's a faze or sth. Either way even if they continue being gay most girls here just play around because they dont interact alot with guys and then later in life they get married like nth happened lol. Again there isnt a law that say track down the gays. No one cares even the law. But being trans is against the law which is being inappropriate because a man cant use womens toilet no matter what and vice-versa. There people who are gay here and we are musliams living around them but we dont harm them or anything like that. Their just people they can do what they want but they have to respect the law the same way stright people do. Again no one cares to be honest. And not all of us musliams kill gays that's just your news. And dont be surprised if you see men holding hands their still stright their being friendly that's all lol.
