When I was very young my parents waited until Christmas Eve to put up the Christmas tree while I was sleeping so that it and the gifts were a surprise from Santa. One Christmas Eve I woke up and walked into the living room while they were decorating the tree and was quickly escorted back to bed. The next morning I thought that I had dreamed it all. I can top that. I had this dream where I was abducted by aliens. In their spaceship, they gave me this gigantic marshmallow and ordered to eat it. I pleaded, "It's too big. I don't like marshmallow." But they forced me. When I woke up, my pillow was gone.
@@alicewoodard2373aluminum trees? They were so easy to put up, decorate and light. You also didn’t have to buy a new one every single year. Some are still in use today.
@@akrenwinkleit apparently matters to the person wondering why they don’t make them like this anymore. If they did, the “fourth wall” would be way too drafty, and unlivable during the winter months.
Yep, a mighty repulsive thing, that. I worked in a major hospital for decades, and was extremely glad when they implemented the No Smoking policy! Foul, filthy smell, burning tobacco, and it was great to be able to breathe at work again!!
We always put our tree up a couple weeks before Christmas, maybe sooner… but presents went under Christmas Eve, after us kids went to bed…. But we didn’t open them in the morning…. My Mom was a nut n wanted Christmas to LAST so we went to church, came home n had lunch, then around 1-2 opened gifts but one at a time going around to eat person!!!! It was ridiculous!!! We got stuff from Walmart…. Nothing exciting…. Any so called BIG gift was usually a game to be shared by me n my sister…. Once we got these radios, boxes that had A M/F M on the front, the switch on the side and a column knob. That’s it! They were pastel colors! Like something you’d give a much younger kid. We were teenagers!!! Same w/our record players, something you’d give a younger kid…. But then we were told we weren’t allowed to buy records!!! We had to put ALL OUR BABYSITTING MONEY in our savings accounts!!! We had no bikes!!! Ever!!! Finally we talked them into letting us buy 10 speeds w/our babysitting $$$ but we could only ride on our street n the one above us!!!
@@biancabeyer789our artificial pre lit tree had its tenth Christmas last year. I also own an original 50s aluminum Christmas tree… …I can only image the amount of money my family saved by never buying real.

What lies?Christmas and Santa are a concept,feeling ,spirit and I loved all that as a child.Your kind are such a drag.I don't believe in this,I don't believe in that blah,blah,blah.......
The lying part is the worst; and then, of course, you just know that if the kid lies later in his life, the parents are going to scream "Don't you lie to me!" AFTER having told the kid about the "Sandman," the "Tooth Fairy," "Easter Buny," ad nauseum 🙄. I flat out refused to tell my son about any of the idiotic fantasy beings, not wanting him to ever believe in them!
So 5 dollars was the purchasing power of close to 63 dollars, however for example cigarettes were 25 cents a pack which is the purchasing power of 3.17. Now mind you its Christmas Eve and they bought the tree that day or even a few days before that's still a steal for a fresh pine tree on xmas eve. Wish Christmas 🎄 was that affordable these days. Now lots of people going into debt just to make Christmas happen at home.

Timothy Leon No sir you don’t put the tree 🌲 up the day after Halloween because it’s to early for one thing and for another thing not everyone celebrates Halloween the earliest you should put it up is the day after Thanksgiving we usually put it up the first week of December
