Because it doesn’t make profit if phones actually lasted like they used to when all phones had plastic backing, even the premium ones. Think about it. If plastic the phone will be lighter therefore they don’t have to make it super slim, if not they could have space for a bigger battery, meaning the phone would last longer like the phones of old, but we all know everything made now days isn’t made to last because it means people won’t be upgrading constantly. It’s all about the money and how to make a profit. It’s a reason why we didn’t need a case or screen protector pre glass backing.
@@kilipaki87oritahitiAnd that actually makes sense, as I've seen brands that gave solid phones die, motorola and nokia for example, as we know most people buy phones of the brand they're loyal to, moto and nokia loyal fans didn't even upgrade for years because of their long lasting old phones, and thus their new phones didn't sell very well and they died, now that they made a comeback their phones aren't as durable as the old ones, and that's because they learned marketing too
Absolutely.. just like my OnePlus 11 top spec model with the 16 GB of RAM and 256 storage. Found it on sale at Best buy for $599. It's display, processor, camera and battery are all flagship level, at a fantastic price. Even at $799 it's still absolutely worth it rather than spending $1,300 on the s23 ultra which has the same processor and display.
@@EuroPeos_069 For me, I never use battery share much as phones batteries aren’t normally big enough for me to justify using the feature, though I do miss it from time to time. Charging speed isn’t where I would personally want it, 18w is still fast but sometimes I do need faster.
Im so tired of people touting glass backs. Plastic is far superior. I would even take wood over glass. Why would you purposely want to make your phone more fragile? Most people ive met with a glass back phone thats more than a year old, the glass is either cracked or just straight up shattered.
Glass also feels slippery. A bad thing to mix with a fragile back. My current phone has a glass back and it makes me anxious. If I eventually switch it will be back to plastic back.
As MKBHD said, cheap phones are getting good. The galaxy A54 and Pixel 7A are literally the best values for money in the world right now. For just $400 you can pretty much most of the flagships specs aside from the extra trinkets.
Pixel 7a definitely. Galaxy A54 definitely not. The pixel will easily outlast the Samsung by a year or two easy and it will be a better user experience with stock android which has no no bloatware.
@@FalconEcho Isn’t it better if it gets cheaper for a new unit? Resale value for both will be shit anyway, no one is ever buying a used midrange phone.
@@SkodaYetiFan I'll take 120Hz over 90Hz any day. And Samsung makes the best screens in the world. They literally make screens for apple. Their color accuracy is unmatched. I'll take a couple of extra pre installed apps and get the best screens in the world than stock android.
Nah lol the glass they use on the back of modern phones is damn near indestructible. Ive damaged all my phones with glassbacks (iphones and samsungs) and the back was pretty much the only thing that didnt crack or scratch lol
We need a comparison between this and the A54 now. Midrange is a much closer comparison considering the price difference isn't like the flagship segment where it's a couple hundred dollars between the top two offerings.
Love the iPhone 12 pro solely for it's ecosystem and due to the majority of ppl I know being Iphone users but I would think the 7a is better as a phone itself and for the price like damn
I'm so proud of the fact that Google has done so well on this phone. I see people hating on them so much but I mean once you use it, it's impossible to hate Pixels. Also a fellow 7a user.
i switched from iphone to the pixel 7a like a year ago, never going to leave it again. i absolutely love this phone. its performance is great, the cameras can very easily compete with my dad's iphone 13 pro and stock android is just beautiful. the only flaw this phone has is that the plastic back can get scratches and micro dings very easily, but just put on a case and they're pretty much invisible. thanks google!
I got a Pixel 7 as a complement to my S21 Ultra and I mostly agree. But the premiumness of the S21u cannot be denied. The display and the speakers are top notch.
I went from the 7 pro to the ultra. Both great phones but you really got to learn what the Samsung is capable of. Pixel features are really helpful with day to day features that you're gonna use and Samsung has productivity features and customization features and raw power. It's really preference
Had a S22 Ultra. Its was a great phone until I started only receiving half my phone calls and messages. When it did work great I probably only used 10 percent of its capability.
Well as a true Millennial born in 87’ who grew up during the 90’s and 2000’s long before a smart phone, it’s not that long ago that premium phones were made out of plastic. Suddenly glass is the new standard, which makes no sense to me as glass easily breaks, plastic doesn’t if hard and durable. Just ask my Nokia 3310, and early Samsung phones😬 But these days nothing is supposed to last, forever, as these companies won’t profit from quality 🤡 I’d take plastic backing any day over the glass on my iphone 15 pro max🙄
I wish these were $350 like my 4a. What a deal that was. If these options were the options when i first got my 4a I probably wouldve said "heck no I'm not spending $500 on a phone" and wouldve gotten the a54 on sale. Maybe ill grab a 7 or 8 on black friday sales but the 7a seems expensive.
The only thing I don't like about Pixels is the charging speed, it's decent but when buying a phone my main focus is battery life and how long it takes to charge that battery. Anyone else who feels the same way?
I'm using a budget android phone oneplus nord 3. And i love it. I have lots of free time in my work. I spent so much time in youtube. The 80w charger is what i love the most. Don't have to wait more than 15 minutes at max to get 20% to 80% soc. I don't think I'll ever buy a phone which has less than 65watt charging speed.
I have a 7a it is not as good as it seems, good for the first while but the more you use it the more bugs you see. Same issue I had with my iPhone 13, I have a 2nd phone (Huawei mate p10) and it's perfect decent camera, no bugs and amazing battery life defo prefer it over my 7a
I love how your honest, other RU-vidrs go like, "it's day and night, it's so bad and this that..." but really it's all you need with a phone. You don't need to run a powerhouse. Yes, somethings like telephoto lens matter, atleast for me. The other factors such as 100x zoom, s pen and stuff ... Not really. I love the S23 Ultra, but still. My s22 is just as good, at least for me.
That wasn't always the case because Google used to have a pretty buggy software back then, people loved OnePlus because they provided a stable and feature-rich stock Android experience which isn't the case anymore in 2023
pixel 7a also has buggy software that tends to cause malfunction and much weaker performance and short battery life, smaller low quality screen and shorter software support
I havent tried a pixel a so far but I own a pixel 7 pro. Great photos and snappy software. Last year I sold my s22 ultra to change to it... but this year. Nha s23 ultra takes the flagship of the year for me lol (and yes I owned an iphone 14 PM for 6 months as well lol)
Plastic back is actually better against bumps and drops. It's less scratch resistant, but a uniformly worn in/scratched phone looks better than a drunk white girl shattered phone
There's one simple reason: lack of OneUI. I kinda liked OneUI on my Note8, I hated it on my Flip3 and I still hate it on my Note 23 Ultra. Stock android with good enough hardware provides a great everyday experience
Plastic back isn't really a con. With as many ppl have those butter fingers. What material is better from them glass that cracks or plastic that is way more durable? Hmm
