I take my loan S1000R for a blast! Res Socks and Stickers! - tinyurl.com/o6j... Keytags- tinyurl.com/ps3... / ridingwithtom / ridingwithtom / ridingwithtom
It will scare you when you install a decent exhaust system, a pcv with a custom map and release another 13BHP and 8 lb/ft of torque at the back wheel ;)
Tom, he knows wtf he is talking about. it's rather disgraceful how you are content with the stock exhaust system on a bike this caliber. It's not a crappy 250cc racing bike for the wanna beeees. Either review it properly or gtfo
Marton Bagoly Also less people have 4k displays than people that can view it in 60fps. And for motion stuff (like bikes) 60fps is in-fuc-ing-credible !
sfasto1 I'm finding RU-vid artifacts in my own videos as well, at 1080p 60fps (hero4 silver). still figuring it out. I've also heard Vimeo doesn't degrade your uploads, considering putting some of my stuff on there. I'd like to mention most recently I'm shooting at 60fps (1080p) and rendering at 24 (supposedly better for RU-vid to attain the massive amounts of detail) but it seems to come out blurrier. My most two recent videos are 1080p 60fps uploaded in mp4 and 1080p 24 fps (shot in 60) if anyone would like to compare. NOTE: chrome must be used to view in 60fps Any info would be greatly appreciated
Jonny Moto I just watched both videos and the 60fps is definitely better but there's still some blurring, just a suggestion, try 30fps at 1080p and see if it's any better.
Why not render your video in 60fps too? 4k is growing in popularity, but is by no means mainstream yet. It would make the viewing experience much nicer.
Erik Lemos I replied to the wrong comment. Was supposed to be one above or below... Sorry, my bad :P EDIT the comment was someone asking how he's clutchless shifting without a quickshifter. They deleted their comment and yours moved into its place as I was about to click reply... That timing
My dealer loaned me an F800GS when i took the bike in for the first service. I was coming from a graveyard shift and they were kind enough to give me a bike to help me get home and get some sleep. However that bike is one slow and weird ride. I was so happy when i got back on my s1kr. Regardless, my dealer is just awesome.
I hope they still make these when I'm ready to upgrade from my MT-07, or at least low k's 2nd hand. Can't wait to test ride when/if possible. Awesome vid by the way man
End of the day, service and after care is a large part of the bike you choose to ride. The reason BMW's cost that little bit more is there is pride in the name and they will go the extra mile to make sure their customers return again and again.
i think u should record 1080p 60fps, its so smooth on youtube, look at royaljordanian's newer videos, it looks like butter, but i love your videos never the less :D
I wonder if they will ever switch to high speed automatics like they have done with the new Z06, for sport bikes. It makes sense to have electronic shifters to make it faster and easier to shift.
I think it's a possibility but I don't think it would take off as much as in cars. People buy bikes more for the experience in most cases than just a need to get from a to b and so the enjoyment of shifting through the gears is probably a big factor for most riders. I mean it would be fast, but not for me I'm afraid.
Lewis H True people do like that rider engagement of having a gear box. I actually think it distracts from the ride experience. But thats just me. If your always trying to be in the right gear for each different situation it distracts you from really going for each corner the way you could if you could always be in the right gear. If you ever road an electric bike you would know what I mean. You feel so connected to the road with no distraction.
I'm gonna respectfully disagree with you on that point. I drive a car and ride and I can tell you once I get comfortable with the vehicle I'm not even thinking about what gear to be in or what speed, it all just comes natural. I also don't like the feeling of not having a clutch, especially in cars as I feel as if I'm missing something. But hey, if you prefer it why not. And if it's fast go for it.
Great video man. I bought this bike last week. Best bike ive ever owned or ridden. More power then i can handle on any gear. I love it. I sold my car to get it and since last Wednesday, i rode it under crazy rain twice and im still not regretting selling my bike.
I actually sold it a couple of months ago due to interstate move. I really miss it now. I would definitely love to buy it again though. Inspires so much confidence in the twisties. I had an 09" R1 before S1000R and i know for a fact that i was way faster on this bike only because it was much easier to ride and didn't scare me shitless when i made small mistakes. Quick upshifter is also a big plus. Another thing to mention is that after an hour on R1, my bum would go numb and my balls would be churning if it was a hot day. On S1kR i had lots of riding days where i did 400kms or so without breaking a sweat. On the go adjustable suspension is nothing to smirk at. Only usual fatique for a long ride but no aches, or pain. There is so much technology on this machine, the money you spend is well justified. My only big problem were the headlights. Only 1 of them is on unless you decide to turn on high beams and piss of everyone. And even then, it's not bright. The low beam lens is so damn small. I replaced the halogens with a retrofit hid projector kit. Was a bit of work but made a huge difference. I hope this info helps making your decision. But best thing to do would be to go for a test ride. BMW dealers go way and beyond to accomodate you especially if you are going to buy a brand new car/bike.
pengasus Thank you for the response my friend. I am selling my 2014 CBR 1000 RR for the upcoming S1000R. I will be test riding one soon. I sat on one a few days ago and it felt very well built. I hope you get another one soon.
Oh and i wouldn't really pay extra for the 2017 model. There isn't much of a difference really. I'd rather go with a '16 and spend the difference on a full exhaust system and HID retrofit.
The s1000r looks great. I don't know what part of California you are planning on going to but northern California is nice. I am in the hill in 5 minutes in any direction I leave my neighborhood.
You're right - I have an 1199 and a S1000R. The S1000R is faster off the line. It just launches so smoothly and has gobs of midrange power while the Pani has a bit of a flat spot in the midrange and doesn't really wake up until past 8k.
The 2015rr looks the business for sure and its features, once they put those on the single R ohhhh man I reckon BMW won't be able to keep up. But its pretty much the up and downshifter along with a tune tweak since it has the electronic suspension already.
i agree tom, 60fps just doesnt look right lol, im sure its just because we're all used to 24fps from movies and i guess 30fps as standard in youtube vids ...60fps does look nice if you're doing something extra action-y imo..because 30 just blurs everything out
1080p60 i think for now is a far better option, couldnt put my finger on what was off with this video until i found out it was 24fps. looks very unstable(probably a better way to describe that). compromise if you really want higher res could you do 2k60 fps? not sure on the capabilities of the go pro
4K is great and we appreciate the the fact that you bought a new gopro but with videos like these 60fps is more import. Plus, I live in Australia and i'm sure alot of your viewers do as well which means shitty internet. (Still a great video BTW)
Subscribed! Because you are easy to understated and don't have a annoying voice! Great video dude! Love your commentary about the bike. Makes me want to get one now! Respect from Minnesota, USA. Wish we had roads like you have there :/
G'day mate, just found you. Great to see an Australian moto bloger. Not that I'm complaining about the U.S. guys. "Doing it with Dan" gives me a laugh. I love my BMW's so you got me right away. Have you had a chance to jump on a Boxer Cup? Anyway keep up the great work. Cheers Kev.
I currently have a diavel but the s1000r is my next bike for sure, but I will be keeping my diavel. I want to ride the BMW and the speed triple all in one day so I can do a ride comparison.
The video didn't look good. I had to bump it to 1440p to get some decent quality out of it. RU-vid does not like quality video, doesn't work properly and yet they still want get money extra.
Why comment on top end comparisons when you never even get close to max power. You don't even exceed 7k rpm. Would have lied to see that bike in full throttle
Praying for a new and mental Ducati Streetfighter! Such a brand should offer this sort of hooligan bike! The looks of the old ducati sf was awesome, and it wheelied everywhere... However it was not so good hanling wise (at least if you compare it to the new sf's out there such as this beemer) . I think that the panigale engine (prefferanly the 1299) with more torque would be awesome with more straight up riding position !!! Let's just leave the design to Ducati. They truly know what they are doing :p
Nice one buddy, was cool to get a feel for the S1000R. If it were 1000's cheaper than the RR it would make for a seriously hard choice as far as the hunt for the 'best CBD commuter' goes. Whens the Simpson Desert trip ? Just make sure your EPIRB doesn't run via Optus satellites ;)
RidingWithTom just a suggestion but id love to see your vids in 60fps rather than 4k. i think a lot more people would like to see the fluidity because not many people have 4k monitors anyway... just my 2 cents :)
I did the California Superbike School level 1 recently at Phillip Island and taking the first corner at ~140kph caused my bum to pucker. 200? Fuck that!
Thanks for this video .. got the same bike 2017 S1000R but I don't know why I cant control it when racing .. it has steering Damper but the wheel bar still moves left and right at high speed .. any I idea how to stable this thing when am on full throttle?
I love your work man aha, you probably get this all the time but, you make me want to ride so bad, I've grown up on a 2015 KTM 300 2 stroke. But I ended up selling it to get some money for a car! Your the best Moto Vlogger , let's over take 'Do it with Dan' and make you number one! Keep it up man!!!
Beautiful Bike, should have a decent fairing though for the price, as 1 liters go it's up against some really tough competition, from Kawasaki and Yamaha both bike really for average day riding are superior especially when you consider price.
Don't know if it's the gopro or youtube, but there's a lot more compression than your previous videos. Also, the 24fps definitely choppy. How about doing 1440p at 48fps?
What are the issues with the S1000RR? Can you specify? I'm thinking of buying one as well. It most likely wouldn't prevent me from buying one, but I am curious as to what your issue is. Enjoyed the video!
So when are you going to take a ktm 1290r superduke for a ride? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the ktm in comparison to the bmw s1000r.
