Shakespear's Sister was a great band with a couple of great albums. Sad they didn't last longer, and they had a bit of a falling out, but finally reunited a few years ago. Very original. As for next songs, I Don't Care is a lot of fun in the You're History vein, while Goodbye Cruel World has a hilarious video.
They are fantastic. I loved this song and album when it came out. I love all your honest and heartfelt reactions to music I have listened to and loved over the years.
They were one hit wonders in the US with “Stay”, here in the UK they had 4 Top 20 hits. You should check out “Goodbye Cruel World” or “Hello (Turn Your Radio On)” both criminally underrated 🖤
yeah it's gotta be "Hello (turn your radio on)", though "Goodbye cruel world" comes close. The other ones mentioned too, And "Catwomen on the Moon" - which basically sums up the band completely.
Siobhan was one third of Bananarama, the top selling girl group on UK history. She certainly was my favorite. You need to go down that Bananarama rabbit hole. You will probably recognize’Cruel summer’ but they have so many other hits. She was married to Dave Stewart of Eurythmics and friends with Annie Lennox.
LOVE that you love them! I'm a huge fan going back to their 1st single. May I recommend their single "Run Silent." It is - for my money - their best song (although I get that "Stay" will hold that spot for most people). Liked and shared.
You're History was the only UK hit from their debut album, but all the rest of the singles released from that album were superb too - Heroine, Break My Heart, Run Silent Run Deep. The sophomore album was so much better, but what a shame they took a long hiatus after the success. The second album spawned the other singles - I Don't Care, Hello Turn The Radio On, My 16th Apology, Goodbye Cruel World and of course, Stay.
