Apologies if you eventually figured this one out but the reason you can equip stowaways without the required stats is because some shells give stats, so there needed to be a system to allow you to retain a stowaway if a shell broke and caused you to fall below the stat requirement, Makes sense that you can equip them and just not have the benefit apply.

I don't know if you figured this out in a later stream already, but I just wanted to mention because you already have the means to that the way to get the "X" stuff is: to hook them. (like L2 the ground). This also works with the white ripples in the water. The lock-on is very jank though so you might have to manipulate around til it gives you the lock-on indicator.

This is what I felt when in Elden Ring the first location that I explored after Limgrave was Dragonbarrow and I thought that the game was just really hard because the enemies were really strong and the area boss (Godskin Apostle) had too much health =D The only reason I could beat him was because BHF is op and it is just unbalanced to place it in the starting location. But that was really funny. I was like "shit this game is hard" and then I found out about other areas. I beat Marge after dealing with almost all of Liurnia, Limgrave and Caelid, as I just didn't notice a whole fucking castle and how to enter it =D I guess that LilAggy has similar happening to him in this playthrough XD
