Suggestion on camera reviews... Use the camera and audio for almost all of the review video. Overlay the camera logo when showing footage from the reviewed camera.
Thanks Ben! Sterling Noren has a review on it as well, but I think you really had an incisive comment for us non-pro users. The advanced functions on the #4 model I probably would not use, so you've just saved me about 60 bucks!! I owe ya a cigar!
Excellent battery life is certainly handy, but my number one Action Camera wish list item is weather resistant external power. In the case of the Osmo Action 4, imagine the barbs from the magnetic base acted as pogo power pins. I want to mount the camera on my 701 and head off for a day of riding without needing to care about battery life and needing to decide ahead of time when to record or not. Run the camera in continuous loop mode and choose to keep the cool sh!te after if happens. Riding at dusk and an Owl swoops down and grabs a chipmonk off the trail right in front of you. No worries, its captured. A knucklehead cuts you off at an intersection, captured. Pass a cuties in a convertible, captured. You get the idea.
I really like the camera setup. Could you list the different parts please. As far as the review goes, when I look at my youtube subscription list and several people are raving about the same thing, to be honest, it doesn't carry much weight. Please let me know how you like it in six months. I only pay attention to longer term reviews.
Speaking of reliability, I am still using two action 1 cameras and they still are working great for my needs. They are like the energizer bunny of action cams.
Should have mentioned that you need to sideload an app (if using Android), and the app doesn't work with all Android devices. You also have to enable a bunch of permissions (camera, location, bluetooth, ability to find other devices) to activate camera.
I'm still using the DJI 1. If i ever get serious about actually posting instead of just recording and never looking at the footage, i would want one of these.
Man, DJI must be going on a blitz. You are the third person I have seen with a video on their new camera. Man, I really want one if only for the quick connect and the low light capability. For now I am stuck with the Hero 10 black
great vid. For Motovlogging what do u suggest frame rate and shutter speed (options with or without ND Filter). Would you use Rocksteady off when using ND Filter?
I've been trying to move away from GoPro. First bought Ace Pro and returned it. Then bought the Action 4 and the DJI wireless mic. So far, I've been underwhelmed with the color. Ace Pro seemed much better. I don't want to learn how to do post-editing of footage so I tend to use auto. This camera just seems a bit "flat" to me.
I just got the Action 4 and have noticed that downloading takes forever. Video segments are at 25 minutes per. Is there a setting that allows me to lessen this time frame? I have Wondershare Filmora as my software editor. Camera works great! Love the gain control. Please advise. Keep those videos coming.
Which mic adaptor and mic are you using? Ive been eyeballing a camera and been unsure what direction to go. The cost is high but the battery life is a huge attraction to me. Also how much storage do you recommend?
Funny you and Jess from Her Two Bikes just launched theses...Thanks for info...been thinking of changing to this from my 3 GoPro 10's - the GoPro becoming pain in the Arse....thanks!!!
So, Osmo Action 4 or Insta 360 that you've been telling us works great???? I have an Osmo Action 1 and the sound (via an external mic) is unusable so I'm looking for something else.
I’m just interested why there is no footage with audio of you riding? I’m assuming because despite everyone complaining to DJI they still haven’t fixed the audio clipping issue for us motovlogers? As I’m sure you know all too well the audio from in helmet mics on this camera is absolutely dreadful. More or less unusable due to horrible clipping and the gain control didn’t solve the issue Unless you have found a work round no one else has? If you have I’d be very interested to great because for me it’s a huge limitation
New rider here. Would you guys say this would be a great security camera as well? As in, a full 360-degree view? I'd like to have that covered before I even hit the highway or roads.
Does it have a built in GPS and rotation sensor? I use them for overlays on the videos of my rides. The big brand has them, but the big brand also has all the flaws we know, like tiny battery life, overheating, and other stuff.
great review Dork. Can you confirm the -20db gain? My A3 only goes to -12 and i think -16 would be the optimum range for in helmet mic. -20 would be amazing! Let me know. thats the only reason i would upgrade as the other features are too similar to the Action 3
Ya know I bought this piece of junk based on this review (and a couple of others). Too bad I won't get to find out how well it works because there is a huge complicated step of having to sync the mimo app with the camera. If just one of these reviews mentioned this , I never would have bought this. I downloaded the app easy enough and I opened an account easily enough but when it came time to sync the app with the camera, no matter how many times I watch the instruction videos, when it's time to sync it, the same prompts that are in the video just don't come up on my screen. I honestly hope that I have more than a $500.00 paper weight. I certainly wish this part of it was mentioned in any of the reviews I watched on this camera
@@DorkintheRoad My bad. Tech support finally answered after a long period on hold and it turned out to be something simple. Not as bad as the computer not being plugged in but nevertheless something simple I missed. In my own defense though all tech companies (not just DJI) have a way of making things user unfriendly to technologically challenged people like myself lol. In any case the small thing that I missed was not even covered in the instructional video on the mimo app, but in any case it's all activated now. Thanks 👍
What is the workflow to get footage off the camera and uploading? Does it need to go through a DJI app or something? Or can I just stuff the SD card into my PC and upload direct to youtube? The main reason I ask is that the GoPro Max requires their app to process the 360 video, they don't have any deskop application that can do it. And to get the video to my phone I have to transfer it wirelessly which can take hours, which is time I may not have if I ran out of SD card space and want to keep shooting. Additionally, I really don't like using their app to process the 360 video as the interface literally hurts my hands to use, then it is rather slow when encoding. If this DJI camera is nicer to use I'd be tempted to switch.
I have a very similar setup you have with my One RS. Same helmet clamp and I just love how you can just take it off easily while commuting to work and just clamp it on when you need it! DJI was also on my wishlist but I decided to go with Insta 360 instead. Who knows, maybe one day I will get to try different cameras and have something to compare to. I can assure you unless gopro fixes their issues I am not going to buy one! Lol
I honestly can't find a single good reason not to choose either the One RS (or even their GO 3) or this Action 4 over the Hero11, and I doubt the 12 will be good enough to warrant the hype they get. Their golden goose may have had it.
@@andrewvickers4487 I agree, unless Gopro fixes their reliability issues they have had since pretty much the start (freezing and overheating) then they will lose customers to the more wallet friendly competition. If you look at footage from both the one RS or the Action 4, there isn't that much difference in age quality. Gopro has a slightly better quality but I would rather get a tiny but less image quality over reliability. I like to know that my camera is filming when it matters most and not frozen or overheating lol
@@Picklerides Apparently the 11 got a new "GP2" processor that was supposed to help with reliability and overheating times, but I haven't looked into how it's fared because of all these newer offerings from other brands that haven't posed a problem in the first place and I don't have high hopes in any case. Gopro had years to get all of that sorted but were clearly too busy milking us, like having us buy their "official" adapter just to use an external mic 🤨
