God puts some amazing people on this planet and Jed was one of them….. I feel very lucky I got to spend some time hanging out with Jed doing what we love He was truly One of a kind. RIP Jed love you brother 🙏
I loved seeing you guys working/playing together, truly a band of brothers. Prayers going out for you all and your families. Jed's knowledge and character even reached out to this bloke all the way over in Australia. Rest easy Jed, your work is done👍👏🙏
Thinking of all you guys out there who knew and loved Jed directly. I watch you all from Ireland through the videos it almost feels we know you all a bit too. Prayers for you all and his family. Thanks for sharing with the world the awesome group of people that you are. Godless. RIP Jed
Oh my dear son. Dad and I miss you so much and look at the wonderful ,beyond wonderful people that love you .. are praying for you ..and for your family. weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. See you soon my son ❤
So sorry about Jed. I only know him from these videos, but you all clearly did a wonderful job raising him. He was your gift to us all. An absolute master at his craft and an inspiration.
I'll never forget watching the tree felling tutorial for the first time. How humble and genuine he was. This brought a tear out of me. I'm glad you got say I love you. Us guys usually don't say it out loud.
I'm a woodworker and not a tree guy beyond some minimal family tree clearing. Your vids helped me clear a storm downed maple tree SAFELY on my mother in law's property. I've been watching your videos for a while and Jed is my Yoda, just like he was yours. Thank you for introducing us. Brother, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I don't know any of you but I feel the loss. I know it must feel weird sharing a part of your life with the world so publicly, but it makes a lot of us feel like we know you. We really don't, and you 100% don't know any of us but we're all just people being people and the sharing matters. I love you, Jake, and I love Jed 😥. I'm sad that he will no longer be able to give us his guidance.
This hit me harder than I thought it would. Jeds knowledge has been passed to so many. Ive dropped hundreds of trees with his knowledge. RIP Jed, keep slaying big firs in the sky
Omg same here . Rest in peace buddy . Fuck man. Loved the movies with him, his knowledge about the job was insane. Learned the filing and lots of other important stuff from your movies.. I have to start to work now and I go now with another mind set in the woods. Stay strong guilty of treeson and the family from jed sending love from Germany 😥❤️🌲🪓💚
2 years ago, I took down a 35 foot black walnut in my backyard. After being quoted absolutely ridiculous rates or being ignored by all the arborists in my area, I decided to do it myself. I cut it down, cut the limbs into firewood and built a chainsaw mill to turn the trunk into slabs. I had never touched a chainsaw prior to this endeavor, and everything from safety, to technique, to sharpening the thing, almost all of my knowledge came from this channel and learning from Jed. I feel like he literally taught me everything I know about this. I don't comment on videos, but this is an exception. Rest in peace man. Thank you for everything, and thank you Jacob for the channel and everything you're doing
it is absolutely incredible how much bringing down a single tree can cost. We recently got quoted something like $7500 to bring down about 15-20 moderately sized trees so I've done the same as you -- relearned it myself
I think it's important to keep in mind that those absolutely ridiculous rates are for the exact reason Jed's life was cut short. Tree work is an incredibly hazardous job that few recognize. Not only the risk of limb, but also property. No matter the size of a tree, there's almost always a hazard presented. What a blessing it was that you were able to gain the courage from Jed's instruction. I too have gained so much from his videos.
@@elliottbrown1725 gotta pay the bills. The talent then leave the location without a trace. Homeowners all have high expectations and it quickly translates into skilled labor. It's not groundskeeper Willy working on your property it's craftsman with responsibility and experience that you pay for.
Absolutely beautiful tribute. The ending where you guys say I love you is really quite moving. That’s what life is about right there. Rest in peace, Jed.
I’m a landscaper and here and there we’ll fell a safe easy tree. I remember watching Jed and the tutorials you guys put out. I came across your content again and man, I don’t care who you are this makes your eyes water. Jed was so in love with his trade and it showed. May he rest in paradise, Prayers to his family.
Beautiful tribute Jake. 8 ways to fell a tree was a major moment in my career. His knowledge is something i carry with me everyday at work. That video alone ignited a passion in me to be a proficient feller not just a climber. RIP Jed. You’re a legend
Agree. I'm not a professional treefeller let alone a climber, but that video with - among others - "Inbred" Jed was awesome and the first of your videos I fell upon. Helped my hobbyfelling as well. Take care and maybe some time off if possible. RIP Jed.
@@oleharbo7265 Check out a book called Professional Timber Falling from D Douglas Dent. Jed probably had a copy of it, it's the Bible of timber felling and is used as the textbook in the high school classes that they have in the Pacific northwest on timbering like the classes other high schools have in carpentry and metal shop. I've never seen the "8 Different Ways to Drop a Tree" video from this channel that people are talking about that Jed is in but I noticed a clip in this one where he just got done cutting a Kerf Dutchman notch, the book covers that and just about any other type of notch that anyone would ever need to know for tree felling. I used to be a structural ironworker and used to timber when work was slow, I live in Pennsylvania and had been logging for a while when I went to work for an outfit that the owner hired a guy from Washington state to run the crew, he was on the run from a bad divorce and came east to find work, he was telling me one day about that book and when I saw it in my Bailey's catalog I picked it up with my next order and it was a serious game changer for me, it covers more than just felling, bucking and limbing is covered extensively in it also, and he covers safety a good bit in it. After getting too old for hanging iron or logging I started getting work on weekends from people who had large trees on their property they wanted removed, I'd go look at jobs and as long as I had a clear lane to drop them I made some decent side money doing it, why let a saw like a Husqvarna 385XP sit around, there's easier saws to use for firewood that's for sure, I figured either put it to work making me money or sell it and get a smaller one for firewood. That was a great saw, I cleared the sides of a lot of mountains with it and made weekend money dropping monster trees in people's yards along with countless truck loads of firewood, after 12 years it ran as good as the day I bought it when I sold it and the 2 foot and 3 foot bars I had for it to a young man who was just getting into logging. RIP Jed, I've lost too many friends over the years in the occupations I've had, unfortunately in those lines of work it goes along with the territory, but you'll never work around better people, there's no back biting and petty behavior with the types of men who'll do those kinds of jobs.
@@dukecraig2402 Thank you very much for the booktip and for your own story. We have neither mountains nor heavy industries here, nevertheless people still die in their jobs. 100 % safety doesn't exist.
Wow man this hits hard. The only good is I know he went out doing what he loved. One of the best tree men I've ever seen in my 22yrs of this industry. Prayers to his amazing family
Gosh, that hard to watch yet very touching. So difficult to let loved ones go. May God bless his family and friends. God bless you for the heart felt tribute
I have watched "WORLD'S BEST TREE FELLING TUTORIAL" more times than I will admit. Listening and watching Jed verbalize his thoughts and his approach in the art of felling trees is awe inspiring. Truly, a Mozart of the chainsaw with extraordinary contributions to the field. I never met him, but I will miss him.
I cried like a baby through this entire tribute. I never had the honor to know Jed personally, but he was a guy you could just love through the screen. He’s always been a legend in my book. That last part in Gordy’s shop when you told each other I love you, that’s always stuck with me. Pure magic. You and all your friends have made a big impact on a lot of lives. We’ll miss you Jed ❤.
Man I was somewhat in control until Gordy's shop.. That hit me super hard when you said that to him. I just started watching your videos in the past 2 months probably if that, and I can tell you loved him like a brother/best friend. He definitely loved you too.
I didn’t ever meet this man but he truly made me love tree work I have watched the tree feeling tutorial video so many times and he was so helpful I didn’t even know the amazingly knowledgeable man and it brings me to tears just thinking of this and its a real reality check and like hey no one is ever in control of life.
I watch several tree channels regularly but had never seen this one for some reason so this is the first time to see you and Jed. What a great, passionate, sharp guy he was! Definitely the type of person that makes the world a better place and will be sorely missed. As somewhat of a tree feller myself I can understand what he said about the “ineffable” feeling that that sort of work gives you. You feel godlike way up in a tree, overlooking everything around you, while at the same time, being on the ground dropping one also gives you a real sense of power and the forces of nature. A definite respect for each tree and a true appreciation for the forest.
You sir, have done an amazing job capturing a man at his absolute best, at his craft, and passion. This man has left a legacy. Many have learned, and will continue to learn from Jed because of this. His legacy will live on.
I am often reminded that we do not know the hour or day that we are to be called to stand before the King of kings. I believe Jedd was a man of honor and he was ready before the day started. He will be missed!
I have truly enjoyed every video that Jed has been a part of. Beyond the enjoyment was the knowledge and skills he willingly and humbly shared. In each video I found something I could take away and apply. The world was a better place with Jed in it. Deepest sympathies for all affected by Jed's passing. RIP
Thanks for the video and to show us how dangerous it is being doing tree work. I am sorry about your lost, I bet was a good Climber as you guys. Be safe up there and always ears and ayes in alert. Oscar Barrientos here from Jax Beach FL, cutting trees since 2003 🤙🏾 You guys be blessed up there 🙏🏾
I never met the man, the myth, the legend you called Inbred Jed. But through your eyes and videos you brought him to millions. We got to see his "tricks of the trade" as we call it. We got to see his ups and his downs and his passion for the job. I've enjoyed the ride along 1000's of miles away the past couple years I've laid at night and watched hours of this man doing what he loved to do and learning from his teachings. So I thank you for bringing him into my home and my work. I thank Jed for the teachings and the skill and for setting the bar high enough out of reach so that I may continue to learn and maybe someday grab that same bar he has set so high. Lastly but not least. I want to thank God for taking this great man to be with the other greats that have went on before him and for sending some comforts to the hearts and lives he has touched. R.I.P. Jed.
Didn't think I'd cry this morning watching my favorite youtuber's tree-falling video... but damn I'm glad I watched this amazing tribute to an even more amazing man, RIP Jed.
Damn Jacob, I'm so sorry to hear about Jed. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Stay safe out there bud. 🙏 R.I.P. Jed. We love you, and Jacob we love you too.
I'm so sorry for your loss! Thank you for this touching tribute! He seemed kind and humble in all the videos I saw him in. Thank you for sharing and helping us realize and understand how dangerous this can truly be
I didn't know this man at all, but holy shit, how much of a great friend you are to not only have captured such an important part of a man's life, his essence, what he was really born into this world for, and during such a difficult time, you put his greatest moments together, so other humans, who couldn't witness his presence on this Earth, can understand how important this man was for the people around him. It's truly hard to lose family, specially those who you chose to become brothers with. Jed seemed to be a great man, and you definitely was part of his legacy.
Jed was an inspiration to all arborists, fallers, your fans, his friends and family. It’s not until now that I realize Jed was also a legend in the skateboarding community. News like this brings us an emptiness that your tribute video somehow replenishes with memories of Jed’s attitude, character, and that contagious smile. Rest in peace, friend.
Take joy in the fact that your friend will live for eternity in this world because of your video skills and RU-vid channel. This tribute put the period on your life together. Very, very well done for your friend.
I just found your channel and didn’t know about the loss of Jed until I had watched a couple of videos. So sad. He seemed to be a remarkable person in every way. His knowledge and passion for his work was off the charts. Wow. He was and is an inspiration.
Dam I've been watching for awhile..this is so sad..he was an amazing tree guy and seemed like a down to earth man's man!!I'm sorry for your loss and condolences to his family..
Jacob, I’ve never posted a comment on anyone’s RU-vid video, but yours and Jed’s friendship was in the best way I know to put it “natural”. It was awesome watching you two run saws and work through cutting trees down. We all know that is a dangerous job and you guys handle it with such ease. Your friendship is a benchmark for how every blue collar duo out here should enjoy their work together. His time on this earth may be done but rest assured he spent it doing what god called him to do! No doubt about that! I love the content you put out, and will certainly miss seeing Jed on your channel. You guys were awesome!
I stumbled over one of your videos as I've been learning how to use a chainsaw for basic garden stuff and was gutted to read about Jed's passing after that first video......this is one hell of a tribute and had me in bits. What an amazingly talented guy he was.
One thing I learned about Jed that I bet most didn’t know was that he was a Skateboarding LEGEND. Seems he was good at everything he tried and touched a lot more lives than anyone could imagine. RIP to a LEGEND.
Yes, he was and he is still worldwide known as innovator skateboarder on the top class team at that time, like Nba of skateboarding. I remember exactly 30 years ago begged my mom to buy me that expensive (like 100 euros nowdays- l m from souther Italy) cheap canvas adidas shoes he used to skate on Lovechild video just because to emulate him.
Yes he was a Legend on and off his skateboard. Thank you for posting this. The skateboarding world did not know what had happened to him. I spent a lot of time skateboarding with him in the early 90s. This one hurts. Praying for his family. 🙏
Thank you, Jacob, for the beautiful tribute to Jed. He was one of my favorite gentleman to watch on your videos. Even through the internet I could “feel” his kindness, generosity, love of family and job, and just how darned special he was. God obviously needed Jed more. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
So sorry to hear this. This hits me so much harder than any celebrity death ever will. This man's legend will live on. The videos and lessons you've put out have probably saved a 100 lives. RIP Jed.
Beautiful tribute for Jed. Thoughts and prayers for family, friends of Jed during this difficult time. Jacob thoughts and prayers for you during this diffcult time. RIP Jed!! Very very sad heartbreaking news!! Be safe out there Jacob!!
People who have never done tree work have no idea how dangerous it is. Its a job that needs to be more appreciated for what it is. Sorry for your loss. Praying for everyone involved 🙏😔
My heart goes out to you and his family. He was a master of his craft. I hope y'all will continue on in his memory and teach to others what he taught you.
What a guy! Grate! So sad.. Just started watching your channel a couple of weeks ago, and seen alot of episodes. Thinking to get into tree work. Many times I thought about that I liked Jed's humble and professional style... Really good movie for him. Love sent from Norway.
When you said "I love you Jed"…. That was immensely powerful, can’t imagine how it felt for you to edit that. This has honestly rocked my world and I’m just a random regular viewer that cuts his own firewood. My thoughts are with you, and stay strong ❤
Yeah, real cool Jacob. Let's never forget to always tell our brothers we love em. Not enough of that in our world. Terribly sorry for the loss of Jed. And I happened to know that there's a God in the heavens that will restore Jed, and ones like him taken too soon, to a renewed life (John 5: 28, 29) God Almighty loves a hard worker, and a family man. He will grant these ones something wonderful in the near future (Isaiah 65: 21-25)
Also the way Jed reacted to it gives the full picture of what that relationship was. Really beautiful moment that was actually, and it takes a special couple of guys to say that kind of stuff to each other for one, and to proudly put it on youtube for all to see is a shining example of who these men are.
Only got turned onto your videos these last few weeks and that guy has been in so many. He was a true master of his craft and it was plain to see how much you looked up to him. That was a beautiful tribute! You’re videos will bring back happy memories too to only you but his friends and family. You should be proud of that! Extending my sympathies from here in Northern Ireland! RIP Jed…
This one is heart wrenching. When you watch these guys on RU-vid everyday you start to grow a bond with them. Prayers and love to Jed family and friends. You was a OG. Rest easy Jed
Legend. Although I’m over the pond in Norway I have learned so much from watching you and Jed. I was so sad learning about Jed’s passing from reading comments on one of the videos. What I really enjoy watching are those nerdy stuff, tech videos on filing and gear setup and off course the cutting techniques. You keep on rocking and keep Jed’s spirit alive🪵
Holy crap man 😳😳😳 I’m so sorry. Jed was a really cool dude, and an awesome tree guy. Climb high my brother. I’ll never square file without thinking about you 💪🏽💪🏽💚
I knew Jed as a teenager and he was always someone you wanted to just be close to. Although we hadn’t spoke since 1992, it was clear that he was still a great thinker, feeler, and communicator. Thank you for putting this together, I’m so sorry for your loss, and for all of our loss.
I was looking for tree climbing vids and saw that name on your vid about the cottonwood and had to watch it. What an awesome dude. A real loss for the world. My cousin passed while at work in the tree's in Oregon. Still think it's an awesome trade. I've been at it for almost 32 years and still love it.
Rest in peace. Just wanted to let you know that you and Jed taught me a lot of new felling techniques and you really got me into the big world of felling trees I guess 😞
Jacob, Jed made a difference. The videos you made together will be online forever. Future generations will be watching them and learning from Jed. His lessons have, and will save lives. We are his legacy and there are millions of us. I can't imagine what his family and close friends are going through. He died doing what he loved. This one hurts. I love you all.
sorry to hear about jeds passing been really enjoying your tree cutting vods he was an amazing logger he taught you a lot about the way of tree faller he will be missed by this amazing community keep your head high and use the skills he gave you to save people from the battle and destruction trees can cause when they go bad love from a fan
Only saw this now and have been following Guilty of trees on, and Jed for a number of months. They taught me so much about felling trees. Thank you brother Jed you were a good man and it's been a pleasure to see your work. Thank you.
Damn. Sorry for the loss of your good friend. All the felling and sharpening videos made heating my home much safer and less confusing, thanks Jed, you'll never be forgotten.
When the angels pick flowers they always take the most colourful ones ! We never think it will happen and every day we walk this earth I consider it the greatest day to be alive ! Those we love don’t go away they stand beside us everyday 😇 Be safe brother sending big love to you and friends and family of this adorable much loved legend of a man’ the man of the trees 💙
I don’t know Jed personally, but I sit here choked up over his passing. He loved what he did, as well as passing knowledge to those who took interest in what he had to teach. My condolences to all whom are affected by his passing. GoT thank you for the spotlight you put on this awesome dude. We’ll all miss him.
Jed taught me so much during my chapters as an Arborist. He was an absolute legend; the Jedi Knight. RIP lovely soul My heart and prayers go out to Jed, family & friends
Do we have the link to the go fund me yet? Or did it come and go?? I’m putting together a car package for Jed’s family and a close friend of ours, Chris. I love you Jed. I’ll always cherish our time together and the wonderful energy you shared. Thank you for creating this video. It was nice to see him again doing what he loved.
When I started in this industry '' Jed walters '' was one of the people I looked up to, his addictive personality, charisma, and his ability to teach and make others laugh, You were taken way too soon and will be missed by all who knew and watched you.. may your pockets stay full of sawdust and the wind be at your back. RIP Jed Aug 13, 1971 - Jan 20, 2023
This is my second comment: The nerves it took to make this video are second to none. I don’t see how you kept it together as well as you did. I cried my eyes out and I never met Jed. He would be honored for you to make this video. Thank you , praying for you and his family.
Man im so sorry for you and all that loved him. It’s always hardest on the ones who are left missing an amazing person they loved so much. It’s hard to celebrate someone’s life when they pass so unexpectedly, but although hard it’s great celebrating them as they were. He seemed like such a genuine lovable and loving person. I’ll Be thinking of him today running my saw. May he live long in the memories of those who were lucky enough to know his spirit.
Think on the positive side: he lived a good life, and died doing what he enjoyed! He was loved and his legacy will live on! RIP, you will be missed Jed.
Jake, there’s nothing I can say to make this any less difficult. But just know that Jed’s knowledge and experience has been passed to and cherished by so many, and all thanks to you. Thank you Jake for being his friend. And thank you Jed for being one hell of an influence on us.
Legit cried this morning watching this. Jed's knowledge has been passed on to the masses. I wouldn't be as competetent in this industry without Jed, or you Jacob . RIP Jed you've made it to your biggest climb. Climb High my friend
I used to watch your videos religiously a few years back. I didn't know anything about tree work, but I was intrigued and eager to learn more about it. I remember watching your "world's best tree felling tutorial" video in particular and watching Jed demonstrate the sizwheel cut on a tall heavy leaning fir tree and just watching in amazement as it spun right off the stump and landed exactly where he intended it to. You can tell he was very passionate and knowledgeable about what he did. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Prayers to his family. 🙏
Jacob, Thank you so much for putting this video together and sharing it with all of us. I was fortunate enough to live with Jed for a few years while I was going to college down in Oceanside, CA. Even back then he was wise beyond his years and taught me so many valuable life lessons. It’s amazing to see how many lives he touched through simply being the man that he was. From his early days as a pro skater to his days as an arborist it seems like he had a way to touch all those around him. My heart breaks for Kristen, their girls, his family, friends and loved ones. I can’t imagine how hard it must have been to put this video together. Thank you so much for sharing this. He will truly be missed. 🖤
He’s was one of my favorite people to watch you saw with. You could just tell how close you two were and those were some of the most fun videos to watch. Hopefully this tribute brings a lot of aid to his family.
Without knowing it, you gave his wife and daughters something with the RU-vid videos you’ve made. They’ll have these videos to watch for themselves and future generations to come.
I have been watching these videos for a good 10months or so and although I knew something had happened I wasn’t sure what or how and now I have finally found this amazing tribute video to the legend that is Jed I’m so happy I have found it as this is such an awesome and amazingly brave thing to do ❤ Loving your work Jake your awesome
Was introduced to both of you with "WORLD'S BEST TREE FELLING TUTORIAL". I must say I always wished there was more Jed. If a man as calm and thoughtful as Jed could be struck down you have to know it can happen to any of us no matter how much you believe otherwise. Gives meaning to the adage "live like today is your last". I dont know but hope and believe Jed did. More than anything my heart goes out to his family.
He definitely died doing what he loved and at least it was a quick death. Watched the guide on how to fell trees so many times. Makes it look like an form of art how masterfully he worked. Rest in Peace Jed. Just, chipped in 15 bucks to say thank you. I hope your girls and wife are forever proud of the man you were, and forever will be.
ive been watching your vdeos for about a year jake and ive learnt so much and i really got to like jed so much so like many others i feel a strange sadness for the loss of a great guy i never got to meet but i feel i've learnt so much from , your memorial made me cry dude, sending all the love from england brother x
Hi Jacob I am newer subscriber to your channel. I homeowner in New Hampshire, and a guy who loves maintaining his yard. Love all your videos, I can tell you guys are all outstanding people , truly gifted at your craft and thoroughly enjoy what u do. I have learned a lot and even on the east coast I am saddened at the loss of your friend Jed. He seemed like an outstanding man and father Keep doing what your doing, you are doing great thing!
Having lost my dad in a tree climbing accident in 2008, this really hits home about the dangers of this job. Although I didn’t know Jed, I felt like a close friend after watching dozens of RU-vid videos of his tree work, he was definitely a master of his craft.
the tree service world lost one of the best, even not knowing the guy personally from your channel i just tell he was a good guy. wow that one hit me hard. stay strong jacob but just know he went out doing what he truly loved to do. RIP Jed
RIP Jed. I’m sorry for your loss Jake. The first video I watched was your video with him on the different ways to fell trees. The amount of knowledge he had about tree work was easy to see. I didn’t know him personally but I felt like I did through your videos.
Jacob, no words can ease the grief and pain you and Jed's family and friends are feeling right now. Jed had such a beautiful and contagious energy that came across even through a computer monitor thousands of miles away. It was very apparent that he was a hard working, honest and level headed man. May God bless Jed's family, friends and you Jacob with peace and comfort during this difficult time. I think I can easily speak for everyone that watches your videos we will deeply miss Jed's wisdom, energy, and selfless presence on the videos. May we all stride to be a man like Jed. Rest in peace Jed, you have touched many lives all around the world.
I wish I could have met this man….I have been watching all of these videos for years.I have my own tree service in South Carolina and I am deeply saddened over this….watched this tribute many times and I cry every time.Great tribute….Love you too Jake
Thank you for putting this up. I'm a new viewer and I feel your loss. He was obviously a true friend and an expert in his field. When he did the sizwil cut in the tutorial video I was hooked. To see the laughs, and works, and camaraderie that you shared is truly uplifting. Your videos show a whole lot more than how to cut down trees. I am sorry for the loss of your good friend. I expect he'll be watching over you.
I saw this last night and it shook me to the core. Sleepless. I’m 48 and got my first saw at 7. Been in the woods and farmed my whole life. I have learned so much from y’all. My heart is broken . Jed’s spirit I always thought ( these are my people) . Y’all do impact people greatly with your content . Thank you Jed for everything
I'm so sorry for your loss, I loved this tribute video the best I've ever seen. My heart goes out to you, his family and friends a like. God bless Jed and may God be with you all in this time of morning and grief.
I just started watching this channel a few days ago. But, man, I am tearing up. I love just what I have seen of Jed. What an awesome man. I can't imagine how many people are missing him already.. praying for the family and friends.
