During a sleepover, Evan (Michael Cera) and Seth (Jonah Hill) say "I love you," and confirm their best friends forever status.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Operating under the assumption that by procuring alcohol for an upcoming party they will finally be able to break their longstanding losing streak with the fairer sex, socially inept high school seniors Evan (Michael Cera) and Seth (Jonah Hill) set out to secure the adult beverages that could get them off of the geek list before they even attend college orientation. Evan is a bright young student whose outward sweetness belies his suffocating fear of heading off to college without his lifelong best friend Seth -- a hormone-driven mischief-maker who wasn't accepted to the same school as Evan. But Evan and Seth both know that college is a place of personal reinvention, and that if they are able to make that first leap together they will have forged a bond powerful enough to last a lifetime. Meanwhile, Evan and Seth's friend Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) acquires a hastily rendered fake I.D. that instantly endears him to a pair of truly irresponsible cops (Bill Hader and Seth Rogen). Penned by co-star Rogen in collaboration with former Da Ali G Show co-writer Evan Goldberg, the semi-autobiographical SuperBad was produced by Judd Apatow and directed by Greg Mottola -- who previously helmed episodes of Undeclared and Arrested Development.

Superbad is also one of my favourites and I relate to your experience with feeling like that fun time in high school with my friends was taken from me, 2 years basically wasted at home. I am still in high school, so I still have fun with my friends, but still, 2 whole years is a lot. I am now nearing the end of high school so next year I am gonna try and spend as much time hanging with my friends and making new friends. I am scared of life after high school and possibly losing them, being busy with work and what not. This scene where jonah hill and michael cera just decide to have a sleepover and realise it'll probably be their last before college, really resonated with me. The wholesome ending where they get the girls and go their separate ways did indeed make me tear up a bit. I now have a new motivation to go to school, not because I want to learn, but because I want to hang out with my friends for 6 hours a day, and maybe even hang out after school, when is the next time I get to do that? I doubt ever again.

Trust me, there's no better feeling in the world than saying "i love you men" to a friend and hearing "me too dude". I would kill for my best friend. Hes the brother i never had. I have a girlfriend too, 5 years relationship, and i dont trust her not even a quarter compared to my best friend who i know him since 13 years... Years is not what matters, it is the actions lived in those years...

This scene hit me so hard when I first watched it. Aside from their friendship, it's also beautiful in the context of the movie. The entire story was them getting up to all kinds of trouble and shenanigans so they could have their shots with the girls they liked, going out of their comfort zone and trying to become men. But when it all goes wrong, they just retreat back into their shells, hiding from the harshness of adulthood, real life and the social world; not forever, but just for moment. Just to catch their breaths. I think a lot of people with social anxiety and other mental quirks relate to this. Sometimes things get scary, and you just want to hide behind the familiarity of your comfort zone. And you know what? That's okay. Just so long as you get back out there and keep trying. We all need to stop and just take a breath every now and then.

I can't wait to look back at these movies in the future. Especially Superbad. These will stand the test of time because of scenes like this. This is more than just a comedy. This is actually a pretty profound moment of what our generation of men are like. We're probably the first generation of men to be this open with our emotions and in some entry to film class someday I'd like to think that they'll be looking at the tone of this movie as generation defining.

This scene always makes me cry. More so now after seeing "Liz and the Blue Bird" but even before then. The whole movie Seth is just radiating toxic masculine energy, including homophobic slurs, and then Evan says "I love you." Something that in any other circumstance Seth would probably have been like "da fuq bro" but nope he just comes out and says it out right. this scene just fills me up with good vibes and the feeling that like none of them are actual homophobes. They understand the powerful bond two men/people can have and therefore they mature and become allies, something I could see them not really be exposed to now, being in high school in the early 2000's. My little headcanon to be able to watch this movie still and disregard the slurs.

I feel like most high school best friends have to go through this college separation stage, it shows the true value of the friendship plus living with your best friend can end a friendship. The benefit is you become friends with other people at school and then they become your friends. You also get access to other girls at your best friend school through your best friend lol

Audiences don't seem to recognize that in this scene Seth is confessing his romantic love to Evan and he fails to get it across. In the final scene, you see the pain in Seth's eyes as Evan doesn't even look back at him.
