Everyone is trying to interpret this song. Some say it is about God, some say about being friend zoned, some say it is about the universe. I believe it is for you to interpret, because love is an emotion to be felt in many ways. If you go through life hoping for one kind of love you will not receive any. Love is spontaneous and patient, so you have to be spontaneous and patient with it.
(Sorry for the future mistakes I could do xD) I think that the talks about the feel that someone have after lose everything, even love and hope, and how now he feeling worse whitout it because, before lose it, love was the only think could help him. (I think I didn't explain myself ver well... :'D)
If you watch the official video someone interpreted the Russian speaking in the video in the beginning. It's about losing a loved one that gave up, then killing himself. Or as they say "The story of a man who died twice"
I'm impressed by this artist, mainly for the use of classic instruments and the fantastic compositions he made with it. I could listen from 2:25 to 2:50 in loop so this ascent is beautiful
It's nice to see the comments not slamming anything for once on anything- it is a truly beautiful song. It could be interpreted in many different ways, and I agree, Woodkid needs a lot more recognition for a masterpiece like this. Some came from perfume comercials, and others came from where-ever they came from to share their opinions. I'm just here from Reibert and I fell in love with the song, it's wonderful inspiration to write fanfics.
Some people are saying this is a "friend zone song." I relate to it more as the way we view the world. The human condition. We all emerge from the Ocean of Light, beings born of love and passion for experience. Yet we come to this world and soon forget that commonality. Instead we forget how to see each other, we forget the time we spent dancing in the ocean of blue together. We see only the power of the waves; but we forget we are the waves. We look out at the Universe and the other beings in it and are afraid; but we forget that we are that Universe. We are all parts of the same infinite ocean of light and energy. When we forget that, we then lose connection with the Love that brought us here to Earth; yet we remember it in our bones. That's why we spend our lives chasing it. We look into the eyes of others and see glimpses of it, reflections of the love that we know is possible, but because we have forgotten that its source is in us, not outside of us, we are always left chasing love in the waves.
I take it as the song for the person who is still very much in love with someone, but knows that person is no longer feeling the same way. beautiful, painful and lonely
"Whatever I feel for you You only seem to care about you Is there any chance you could see me too?" That is the perfect way to describe my relationship between me and my crush
Nah, I don't see this song as a song about being friendzoned. I can really relate to it, thinking about my ex. She seemed to care more about herself than about us, or about me even when i went trough some tough times. I think many people can relate to the lyrics in a way. It is just the way he brings the lyrics, in combination with the instrumental.. this guy should be more famous. And also have more songs because I think we all need more haha
I totally Beleive this a song about God or love in general but the scriptures also say God is Love itself. 1. When he says " oh boy your eyes betray what burns inside you" I thought of Lust of the eyes like Porn, Games and other deceiving things that come to contact with your eyes. For only the Creator knows us more than we know are selves he made every detail including are true desires. 2. When he also say ( Whatever I feel for you, you only seem to care about you is there any chance you could see me to cos' I love you) This reminds me of of many scripture of God feeling broken cause of his own peoples faithless hearts Jeremiah 3:12 This is what the LORD says: “O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever. Jeremiah 3:19-20 “I thought to myself, ‘I would love to treat you as my own children' I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land the finest possession in the world. I looked forward to your calling me ‘Father,’ and I wanted you never to turn from me.But you have been unfaithful to me, you people of Israel You have been like a faithless wife who leaves her husband. I, the LORD, have spoken.”
im making a playlist for my best friend and i lowkey want to put this in there...only problem is he does in fact love me and i dont want to sound like a prick...
@@soupcastle8210 no it wasn't...? it was written by two men, Yoann Lemoine (Woodkid) and Ambroise Willaume. i can't find anything about it being written by a woman.
Man, I can imagine this song being the theme for a series abt an affair of two men in the 1920s during the prohibition period (idk let's add some historical touch to it) and how one of their parents is a very prolific moonshiner . If anybody is interested in pitching the idea then hit me up ;)
Doubt anyone will know what i'm talking about but there was an amazing AMV for Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood with this song. It basically showed the ishvalan war and the story of scar and his brother. AMAZING amv but I can't find it anywhere! T_T
Yeah but honestly I can see that from a perspective. God is always looking for us because we are hidden. This song almost plays a narrative on how God watches us and wonders where we are, why we aren't with Him. Our sin closes us away from His love, and most of us are content to live life that way. But he keeps on loving us anyways.
