Being a wedding planner, you are in a unique position to see things from both the couple's perspective as well as the vendor's perspective. As a florist, I would love to see you do a Q&A of questions vendors may have for couples, but the couples are too shy or embarrassed to answer. For example, "What are some common reasons couples ghost a vendor after receiving a quote?"

It would be REALLY great to get a full video on non-dancing weddings! My fiancé and I will be getting married at a state park where we are planning on games, food, nature walks, and a campfire. It would be great to hear about your experience with other weddings where dancing was not the main entertainment.

Just hopping on to say don’t rule out starting videographers! As one myself (coming up on my first year doing it full time), I will tell you right now: if you are getting married and are trying to budget out photography and videography the photographer absolutely should come first and you should not feel bad about it. Those are your keepsakes that you’ll be sharing with relatives and maybe even your children and grandchildren. Your video is mainly for you, the couple. If you can afford a quality videographer with years of experience and the very best equipment, please book them. They deserve every wedding they book. But for those who are working with less $$, a starter videographer that can come for just 4-5 hours to capture your ceremony, first dance, and toasts is all you need. Yes of course quality matters which is why you’ll likely choose the starter whose work you like the most. I wish everyone could have a video of their wedding day, but for the ones that are balling on a budget and don’t want to the stress of relying on a family member’s smartphone or trying to DIY it, this is the next best thing!

Also there are plenty of bridal stores that specialize in used or sample dresses! Brides for a Cause is a great one on the west coast! And I got my dress for $300 at Magnolia Bridal in west Michigan! Not used, but a sample from apparently many seasons ago. It can be done :)

I would love a deeper dive on how the timeline looks without a first look! So many people are pushing a first look it almost feels like the standard now... Can you do a detailed video on how the schedule looks, how it could be feasible to not do a first look?

I would love a video on brunch weddings. We plan on having one and can not find any content or much information at all

I would love any advice around short term wedding planning. My soon to be fiancé (we’re just waiting for the ring) and I will be engaged for less than 6 months. I’m kind of freaking out about how I can actually get everything organised in that time, and what vendors will actually even be available! Our short engagement is due to our faith and values - we won’t live together until we are married.

Maybe something like our theme is winter. Join in the fun by wearing something silver, baby blue or dusty blue. Maybe have Mardi Gras style beads for the people who need something.

Can I just say this as a repeat wedding guest: I'm SO glad you emphasize that guests are perfectly capable of entertaining themselves. The best weddings I've been to were the ones where I could just chat to people, eat some food, have some drinks, and not be bothered by a ton of speeches and compulsory activities. Especially if you're in your late 20s, early 30s, weddings are a prime place to catch up with people you haven't seen in a while, sometimes including the couple, and having to continuously break off the conversation because people think you're a child that can't entertain themself feels like such a waste of that valuable interpersonal time.

I’m planning my wedding. Only the top cake is real is a vegan gluten free for me. My cake lady is making sheet cake, cut it and put it in little boxes my mom is decorating. No cutting. No mess, no waste. Eat it there or take it home. Is pre packed already.

Jamie, we LOVE this format! Keep the Q&As coming! I especially loved and agreed with your response to the entertainment question regarding the micro wedding. I recently went to a 56 person wedding with no dancing or other entertainment, and everything was lovely! Conversation IS entertaining!

Highly recommend dress shopping! I had the exact experience Jamie described. Walked out with the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted. Many bridal boutiques do semi-annual sales (twice a year) where you can get the big name brands off the rack for a fraction of the price. Don’t be afraid to call and ask!! I got a $1,800 gown for $800.

Can we get a video about saving money on bar options and which one is better? Open bar, tab bar, ticket system, ? Having a hard time deciding that 😩

My best friend who got married a couple years ago said that she had a very specific dress in her mind of what she wanted to wear on her wedding day, but when she went dress shopping and got to see what everything looked like on her body, she chose something different.

Question for next video: My wedding will going around the colors dusty blue, baby blue and silver… we will not have any bridal or groom’s party, so we are thinking to ask all our guest, in a very politely manner, to dress or accessorize around those colours so that they can kinda merge into the theme… of course we will never oblige anyone, just highly recommend to use the palette in their dress choices… it is that rude or too harsh to ask? Any suggestions on how to ask politely to consider those colours when choosing their attire?

Hey Jamie, I have a question: Should we save the wedding cake? This video (along with several of your others) was super helpful and gave me some great ideas. I've been thinking of doing a dessert table and getting a berry cake from Central Market for the cutting photos. I told my mom about this, and she mentioned the tradition of saving the wedding cake for a year and then eating it. My partner said his parents have kept a piece in their freezer since he was a kid. What's the etiquette?

When researching vendors, what are ways you can research their personality? I want a fun, vibrant photographer but not sure how I find them :)

Thank you, Jamie! My question: Do you have any advice on how to communicate with with vendors before a date is officially set, particularly photographers? My fiancé and I have decided on the venue we want and we would like to get married at the end of May 2025, but we are not able to book until he has his vacation is booked. He cannot bid for his vacation until September and although it is likely they will give him his preferred vacation dates, it is not guaranteed (standard in his industry). We are wanting to have a very small event on a weekday so our venue said that there should be no problem. I have heard that photographers do not want to talk with couples until they have a date set, but I am nervous about the idea of waiting until the fall to start looking. I would ideally like to have as much research done as possible prior so that when we are finally able to set the date we can basically immediately book the photographer as well. I do however want to be respectful of these photographers’ time (and not annoy anyone who I want to work with me). Do you have any advice on when I should start reaching out to them, and how to do so appropriately?

Jamie I have a question: Do you necessarily need to serve snacks during the cocktail hour? I am aware that my cocktail hour is going to be about an hour and a half and I would be open to serving snacks and food while everyone is getting their drinks but I am worried about that food sitting out and possibly not being touched. And also who sets that up? Surely we don't set it up before the ceremony.. It would be sitting out for far too long. So is it okay to have a cocktail hour without snacks available? Just drinks and water?
