"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you... but ye verily, thou may maketh my book into a costume, so long as thou makes the actor have blue afro hair, and a beard to match." --Deut., Book 4, chapter 2, isle 14, seat 22.
This weekend I attended an anime convention where for the first time ever we had these people holding up signs and telling us about God, one or two actually shouting it. Although we were a huge group of people in cosplay, in normal clothing, of many different religions, faiths, believes, and sexual orientation we couldn't really figure out why they chose to stand outside of our convention with signs that cherry picked scripture. Some people heckled them, some mocked them (had an awesome parody using Star Wars with Anakin's turn to the darkside), and some engaged them in civil conversation, but the hecklers were in greater numbers. Wasn't quite sure why they had originally branded all of us as sinners in need of redemption but the situation reminded me of this video and I had to share it with my friends to torment them. When messages are given out in such a way it seems so ignorant and as if we're all being talked down to.
Further proving that when anyone says, 'Hey, check this out!' online that you should instead find something worthwhile and inspirational to do instead. Like smashing your own face in broken glass. Yup.
Admit it David - one of those kids is _you_ right? You've kept this secret for years, ashamed and terrified? Living in constant fear and desperate hope of being found out? It's okay dude - this wasn't your fault. --S
I'm a Christian despite crap like this, not because of it. No wonder people think we're brainwashed idiots. No wonder people mock us and turn away when we mention God's name in earnest, not in vain. No wonder evangelism sparks contempt not faith. I can't listen to the whole thing, it's just too painful, but I agree with some of what I did hear, so it's not the message. It's the awful, awful way it's presented. That voice! That squeaky, condescending voice! The smugness! The costumes! The insipid music!
