I am so glad you have videos on stills photography for the G9. I moved from a Pentax K5 and occasional usage of my Olympus OMD EM-5 to the G9. The K5 just got old and the OMD shutter doesn't work in hot weather. As I already owned many Panasonic lenses from owning an OMD (and had so many troubles with the OMD) it seemed like the right move. I haven't been disappointed, but it has been a steep learning curve. Just a lot more complicated than my original Pentax film camera, K20d, K5 or OMD. The G9 has sooo many setting options. Honestly it has taken a long time to get my head around the options and get the settings right for the type of photography I mainly take these days. I have appreciated having another 'stills' G9 photographer to help me understand the menus and the options that suit stills photography. You are rare. Many just talk about the G9 and GH6 video qualities. I look forward to hearing about your discoveries/experiences with the GH6.

Looking forward to your Tanzania video. I've a GX7 and GX9 and am thinking of a G9 with the 100-400 lens and abandoning my DSLRS because of weight also 👍

Appreciate all the hard work and knowledge you put into your videos, they've been an invaluable resource as I've learned to use my own G9 (still learning) - glad you're not abandoning it! I'll be going on safari myself next year with a G9 and an as yet unchosen second body, so though I always look forward to new videos from you, I shall be awaiting your Tanzania videos with particular interest! Have a great trip and, enjoy the cameras. Weight is always the problem. That, and two systems isn't the best use of resources. I like the micro 4/3, not going back unless I have to.

Just been in Uganda where I had a G9 with 100-400 and gx80 as a back up/shorter zoom and it worked great!

Waiting in anticipation to see the benefits of a body at 2 1/2 times the price of the G9. God speed.

Can’t wait to see your next video - have a safe trip! Please share your experiences of the GH6 and the high res mode. It seems the high resolution photos are not only sharper, but also a lot cleaner at higher ISO. 👍

Greats news and congratulation for the new camera. I'd be curious to see what the GH6 gives as a photography camera. I also need two bodies and I choose the OM-1 to go with my G9. Still waiting for it, two months after ordering it. Can't wait to see your Africa tour photos.

Interesting. Would love to hear how you cope with the heavier body post trip. I hope we get a G10 photography focused version soon. Without the fan and CF.

Excellent choice, good'on ya. For the never used spare lens: did you consider an UWA lens like the PL 8-18 or even the latest PL 9/f1.7?

I'm also thinking about a second body for my G9 for my planned trip to South Africa, unfortunately my old G6 is defective. Sure, the GH6 is attractive with the new 25MP sensor and video capabilities, but it's also very expensive and I need another type of battery. So my considerations are more in the direction of a second G9 or the G91, here I can use the existing batteries and the same setup. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your (travel) experience report.

like your lens selection but I think you are missing one! Recently added a lieca 35-100 2.8 to my line up and it fits in superbly! sharp as a tack and a perfect focal length. give that one a try. david

... I am very interested in your experience. I have the Lumix G 9 for about a year and the GH6 will be my second body too. Now I am joining the Lumix LX100 for traveling and I am still very happy with it.

For the GH6 can you recommend the best lens that is suitable for event videography if budget is no issue?
