Thank you for joining! Please keep in mind any language barrier is on me, if I went to another country like ie: Germany in a town it would be even harder probably. When I move in May to a new place I plan to take in person lessons to learn whatever the local language is
Just toss out some "Salamat" - ThankYou, "Kuya"- Brother, Or if you want uncontrollable giggles from the ladies "Maganda" - cute/beautiful. Even a couple words of there own language will make their day.
Also google translate "app" has filipino now can type in english and have the phone speak filipino. will help if spots they dont understand you. Its downloadable so dont need data on the go.
German is easy to learn as most of there words are similar to English if your going to live in the Visayas learn this language most people understand this Im to old to try and figure this language out but I know a lot of words lol
I was so shy when i meet my husband he came all the way from Canada to meet me then, after a year he came back in Iloilo City to marry me. We got married at the cathedral church in Jaro. We been married almost 31 years now. You know when you get married in the Philippines there is no divorce, through thick and thin sickness and health ups and down of your life we have to stay in our marriage nothing is perfect but always work it out in some ways.Thank you Michael for exploring the Philippines for us to see...stay safe :)
how this channel isn't bigger I'll never know.. you've convinced me to go to the philippines. I will say of all the towns this one seems to not be for a beginner.
Here's a tip: To get store workers to talk to you on camera buy something from their store, just something small. That way they're forced to do something while you film and in the process they will talk to you hopefully.
People in a small town are typically shy. But they really like seeing a foreigner, they just shy in conversation at first. You've got to use to it. Good video Michael.
I lived in that area and seeing the Big Island was always amazing because it stands out I was In Guimaras when the big typhoon struck Concepcion and surrounding area it was very bad in that area lots of deaths I stayed half a yr in Tentay before this Guimaras 2 yrs live in Cebu now yea I miss this place The Islands are really cool to see looks prehistoric just off world natural beauty Good show if your going back to Luzon travel north from there never been there Should go thru Bicol and see the Mt Mayon volcano and visit Buhi I have alot of relation there another beautiful place stay out of the big cities
Another great video michael.concepcion is a beautiful little town. The people are so friendly. I always enjoy your videos you give out a lot of information information
As much as Philippines has poverty and natural disasters you are showing us the true side of the people, how friendly they are (not to mention the pretty ladies) and truly the paradise(s) they live in on ILOILO, really interesting. 👍
Anyone else catch that the Mayor said "with me" when saying Mike should go tour the islands? Maybe I just misheard it, but Mike you might have been able to get a Mayorial escort lol
I just finished watching your video, bro. Gees if I'd knew you were going I would have directed you to our friend's hotel that has everything - Borres-Canong Mansion (but it's just out of town but beautiful).
Glad you are seeing so many new places. But May 1st is coming very fast. And I know you know that. What I think is important is that you are on the mainland, not on a small island with only boat access. The garliva place says hotel on maps. The language barrier is strong here. These are by far the most modest hotel rooms I've ever seen you stay in. You meet wonderful people. Mike, come on you can't walk 2km. You got skunked a lot there. You really have great experiences
Iloilo is one of the beautiful places in the Philippines mike.and I watched some of your videos and journey exploring in visayas.i think why don't you try Luzon part of the Philippines specially northern part of luzon I'm sure you will enjoy, amaze and love it also.there's a lot of beaches around here.we had hundred islands and more in a province of Pangasinan, and nearby cities like Baguio city it's a whole year round cool there that is tourist spot specially summer season and a lot more nearby places that you will enjoy for your videos mike.God bless and stay safe always.
Nice video started out a bit not welcoming but you found the Mayor and lots of young people and they were very welcoming. Now the town knows you bet tomorrow will be a lot different. Enjoy your journey.
@@ThatPhilippinesLife yes I agree it was like the first day I was in Roxas City. It was just a language barrier with some of the older folks. I now love Roxas City. I am sure I am going to move there
Sir you got a right choice, the place to stay, welcome to the land of pearl, Philippines, i hope you enjoy scattering in our beloved country, you may try also going to South, a lot of spots there to disccover. I am from Batangas City and i highly recomend this place you' ll never forget when you see it❤
Hello again. I'm not sure you got the best tour of Concepcion. I'd like to show you around the islands of Concepcion when I get back in July if thats ok with you? It really truly is beautiful and just staying in town doesn't do it justice.
@ThatPhilippianLife This area is like going into Almirante, Bocas to go out to isla Colon, Isla Bastimento, Canero.... Except this may be better than Almirante and why Im coming to Philippian than Panama... Thanks for sharing.
Hello Sir Michael. New Sibscriber here😍👍🌺🤗🙏God bless on your journey in vlogging💞👍Please try to explore Concepcion Islets😍Concepcion is a very nice place bcoz I was a highschool teacher here for almost 24 yrs already and Concepcionanons are very nice people🤗🌺🙏💞👍💐Try to visit Concepcion islets Sir Mike. 🤗😍👍💞
I mentioned you the Iyang resort before Mike, they have a brand new resort and its by the beach. You could have gone and stayed over there. The name is “Caza Iyang”.
Unfortunately I get thousands of comments a day it's hard to keep track unless its something I read that day. I had a couple people suggest hotels in town but that one never got mentioned, turns out they were fully booked though, even the next morning couldn't even have coffee there
A very small town but looks really nice especially the islands and they are all so close. I would of been a bit frustrated there with finding a hotel room and place to eat. That is the one problem with smaller places. Still lots of fun to explore.
if you keep vlogging like this one , your channel will grow big in the philippines like your fellow canadians kulas/becomingfilipino & bret maverick ..... their channels were so successful in the philippines cuz they've had massive filipino viewers around the world, & we're talkin' 'bout millions of viewers here around the world ..... i'm not hating on expats' channels in the philippines who mainly focused on expats' life (or sexpats) in p.i,but if you just relied on them then .... how many expats who'll watch your vlogs when their numbers aren't that big compare to filipino viewers around the world ,where the numbers are millions ..... so keep it up man & don't change it cuz it seems like your channel is rollin' towards in a right direction .....
Waiting here for your island hopping vlogs in my hometown Concepcion😊and Sandbar island part of my childhood memories since it was owned by our relatives. I am originally from Igbon Island and currently settles here in negros Oriental. BTW Michael mostly Concepcionanons (my fellow locals) are kinda shy especially men they are afraid to speak english especially to the foreigners😂
Explore da Best Concepcion. “da” is purposely written that way. “da” instead of “the”. Not about grammar. Anyway, I watched the second time after reading some of the comments. To me, the town looks okay and the mayor was friendly. Good vlogging. Thanks.
Another great vid. There were a few moments though, and it happens with every single vlogger -- where I wanted to put my head to my desk when you are talking to people who don't speak any English at all and you keep using the same words that they don't understand. Sign language and simple words! Ooph, ooph ooph!
May I will start to take lessons to learn the local language of the new place I live. Won't be entirely useful in all areas since there are so many languages in a single island but it will at least help
Since you are now so well travelled over Panay, what would you suggest is the closest white sand beach to IloIlo. I am fit, but 67. I have to consider later years and need to be near good hospital.
White sand close to a major city hospital would need to sacrifice for almost white sand in Oton/Tugbauan. The other option is outside Roxas city that has white sands around Palina Greenbelt Ecopark. In 5 years the bridge to the Guimaras will make more options but for now that is the options for major private hospital access easily without a boat
@@ThatPhilippinesLife Saint Pauls is a good hospital think thats the name had a heart attack there was in hospital for 3 days I would say the people there are a bit different than Cebu there good people don't get me wrong but something maybe more conservative Im not sure just my 2 cents Hospital visit was 60k for 3 days my 7 day stay in Cebu Doc was astronomical compared to IloIlO think I paid over 400k here both were bad points in my life here and im happy to be alive and had the money to pay these bills off life here is what you make of it just saying being x military hasn't hurt either used to moving around but Im not planning on moving anywhere for least 5 yrs as i have a plan and free rent so life is life
@@thehairypavementant3931 thanks for input. I'm 67, healthy and fit at the moment on no meds. I don't anticipate the need for a hospital, beside an accident, for a few years yet. But do want to eventually settle in one place. Hence my desire to pre-empt medical needs. I am will also have a decent heath plan with AXA.
Hi Michael, do you have any recommendations for hotels or accommodations in Roxas City? We are looking online via Agoda and other websites. The options there seem limited. We are going for the Seafood. It is the seafood capital.
Yes look for Sitio Uno to stay in Pueblo Panay or Victoria Hotel, on the beach you have high end is San Antonio Resort, value priced actually on the beach you have AltaCosta and really budget on the beach is the beach bar and house
@@ThatPhilippinesLife Thank you, Michael. Keep your head up! Your new channel is better than the old one. You will get thru this. God has given you amazing talents. Take care, friend!!
Nice to see all places in the provinces ... But I wont go to a place like a in a Hotel where people looks grumpy...sorry mga kabayan not all are happy welcoming...
Hello Michael I am looking I am in Cebu city until Tuesday and I am looking for a beach town that I can go either by bus or ferry but not to far from Cebu I don’t want to take a plane. I am looking for something affordable because I am staying at least a month you have any recommendations. By the way I really enjoy your videos and also the fact that you are Canadian me (Montreal) Thank you in advance and keep the good work
Oh on the other channel I did a video, check out here it's as close to the city as you can with that ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-95oOtCEs65E.htmlsi=YadX5cZ67U5EpelT
Try breathing downtown sitting in a jeepney sucking in diesel fumes, beaches covered with garbage, rivers so full of garbage you can't see the water, karaoke everywhere at all hours of the night, roosters, dogs, loud music........
What a weird vibe at that "ship"-hotel. Damn. Wouldn't stay there if they paid me for it. "Fully booked"? By who? Haha. I actually found the whole place pretty weird, but what do I know. :p Nice people though, as always.
I think the founders Day brought people from our of town filling it all up and in hindsight I think he was saying yes to hotel and no to room. My best guess anyway 😂
Dont go to calamba city, laguna crowded, dirty, horrible, inconsiderate drivers everywhere especially the motorcycle drivers. I call it manila south. The people are not very friendly either. I've been to many cities and this rates way down on my list
This is a stupid question to ask. I follow many blogs from different people in the philippines. I see the tourist stuff; the bars and commercial district. But I never seen any industry. This my question does the philippines have industry ?
Funny how you told that mom she could relax and be free once her kids are grown. I don't think that is something they desire. Being free of family is not a goal for them I think
That's how with Pinoys naming their kids. Usually 1 starting letter. Or males follow father starting letter, females follow mother starting letter. Sometimes after angels. So there's a theme...
Might go home for vacation to Iloilo City in June. Bora to Iloilo City to Guimaras and back to Iloilo City. My last trip was 2019. However this time can't visit San Jose Antique, my moms hometown.
