About the Snail Phones: Transponder Snails are an actual species of snails called "Den Den Mushi", they're psychic snails with ability to transmit voice and information between them. Humans and the rest of races in the One Piece World have tamed these snails and adapted phone structures on them in order to communicate. Each snail in the anime/manga has a personality of its own, and the snails can also shapeshift in order to look as a snail-form of their owner or the person they're communicating to (for example, the Snail of Axe-Hand looks like him, but not because they dressed it, it just shapeshifted to look like Axe-Hand). Dark snails have a capability of intercepting other snails psychic messages, and they're used by the Marines and other Pirates to detect enemy communications. Den Den Mushi are a very interesting part of the lore in this show.

I’ve been a One Piece fan for 15+ years… there’s over 1000 chapters of the manga… and the way that it CONSISTENTLY makes me laugh, cry, and just overall shake my head in disbelief is unreal. Even the chapters that came out in the last weeks are still making me cry. The writing for this story is just unlike any other story I’ve experienced. Thanks for giving it a chance!

Just a bit of world size for you, this world they are in is canonically 2.5 times the size of earth. There's a jeff ward (buggy interview) that said that Inaki (luffy) would troll Jeff during this hat scene. Inaki kept yelling "MY HAT" over and over when Jeff started doing his lines and Jeff kept getting mad about it. It's hilarious to me because that's what luffy would do, he wouldn't be paying attention to monologues hahaha. I can't imagine working with Inaki I wouldn't've be able to breathe. lol Berry is money, yes. It's 150 Berries = 1.61 USD. Luffy *cant* swim. Devil fruit makes you incapable of swimming. Sea water takes your strength away.

That goodbye moment with Shanks is even more emotional in the manga IMHO. Kid Luffy crying his heart out with a lot of fluid coming out of his eyes and nostrils while saying goodbye to his role model was definitely a moment that would steal anyone's heart. The show is successful in presenting important and emotional scene from the manga like this, hence why the show is so good. Can't wait for Season 2 !!!

You're crying because One Piece is literally the most tear-jerking story ever man. I've been reading it since 2002 and I *still* tear up at a lot of scenes. Season 2 is going to be amazing - They're going to the Grand Line!

Coby and Helmeppo (the guy with the hair) have a way smaller part in the anime just like Garp. He wasn't supposed to show up until later and only for a small bit. At around episode 400 he was fully introduced.

I have seen the anime at least two times all ready to the point of it still going, and I keep watching these reactions to live action and anime just to see how someone else reacts to them and it's allways the same how I felt it when I watched it a first time.. and second time, and when i'm watching these reactions xD

The devil fruit give you a type of power but then you can not swim anymore and your powerless if sea water touch you. (That what they talked about "pact with the devil"). Shanks use an another power that will be explain maybe in season 2 or in the anime if you begin it.

Well Shanks here is a thousand times stronger than 17 years old luffy..... He could have killed that sea monster with just a single finger BUT He CHOSE TO GIVE UP HIS LEFT HAND for Luffy. This was his way of BETTING on luffy which is fair given the current chapters going on in manga.....

The one piece world is vast. It is also a world were people can develop interesting powers through training or raw skill. Devil fruits are a flavor to that, but just because you see a person do something crazy doesn't mean they ate a devil fruit. In fact most of the time they didn't. I think they did a great job with buggy here. He flips between creepy and funny rather well.

Sea water is the weakness for all the devil fruits eater

The devil fruits are just called that they aren't jujutsu kaisen devils... they are mystical though you might say and have weird effects beyond just the abilities sometimes. The lore behind devil fruits has more similarity to like.... light sabers in star wars.

Devil fruits are basically one of the ultimate weapons in the One Piece world. There's countless Devil Fruits, but only one version of each, when eaten it's taken out of circulation and won't come back until the user dies. You can only eat one if you eat another the two devils inside you will fight and kill you in the process. Any power you can think of, there's a Devil Fruit for it, unless someone says they ate one they didn't. And you eat one you can't swim, no exceptions, so Shanks didn't eat one, that's not a spoiler because he obviously swam, so gate keepers please back off

I find it so funny that people compare Buggy to the Joker when reacting to the LA, when Buggy is actually nothing like the Joker whatsoever (Buggy is actually too.... can't call it friendly or nice...........Do you know what a Tsundere is ?? Buggy is a bit like that....sort of.. maybe ) . I don't want to spoil anything but Buggy's brand of piracy is "cute' in comparison to other villains and antagonists.

One Piece excels at a few things: worldbuilding, storytelling and committing emotional abuse against its readers. You'll cry when you least expect to cry, you'll laugh at the most absurd things, and end up feeling attached to the most unlikely characters because of how unique they are. Despite the story not being complete despite being over 1100 chapters long, exploring its rabbit hole is a journey that shows its strengths more and more as you progress into the series. Its author is an absolute talent at foreshadowing and storytelling an internally consistent world that is so much more interconnected than you'll think during this first season of basic beginnings... or even the next two or three. Early One Piece can be seen as the equivalent of Alice trying to reach her Wonderland.. and it will take quite some time before the true happenings and players inside this Wonderland become truly known to us. It is an amazing story, and I hope you'll end up enjoying it as you keep watching!

That episode with Buggy was so much darker than it was in the anime. Btw. a little background which I believe doesn't tell too much but.. Shanks isn't just a random pirate. There are 4 pirates in that world that are so strong the Marine and government cannot control them and Shanks is one of them.
