One of the best things about One Piece is how it is about people that have pain in their past... but they also have dreams... and they find a NEW family of friends to help them pursue those dreams without actually forgetting about their blood related family. The backstory's are tragic and powerful.

Like Zoro, right? Well, I haven't read the manga or watched the anime, but I get the sense that Zoro just trains really hard.

@@G1Transformed Yep! Exactly. Zoro does a lot of training in the ship in the manga/anime. He is just that strong without any devil fruit or inner demon or special race, all he has are his swords and his muscles. (There's another power system too, which they could train to have it, but it would be too spoilery rn).

And sometimes their nose hairs are reticulated which allows them to strain noodles through their nose

In other words, Klahadore/Koro didn't eat the Devil Fruit. He just has ninja-like powers.

The game in Chinese is called "weiqi," but it was adopted by the Japanese as "igo" (Go for short). (Koreans also play, but they call it "baduk"). It's a game of controlling territory, generally by using your stones to enclose more space than your opponent, with pieces played on the vertices of a 19x19 grid. The rules are very simple, but the size of the board means there are more variations in play than chess, with multiple different strategies often happening simultaneously on different parts of the board. The players have to choose which battle is most important to use their turn on; if they need to react to the other person's attack, or if there's a move they can make give them the initiative; if a group of stones can be saved or if it's better to abandon them as lost. As the game progresses and the smaller battles grow and begin to impact each other, strategies will need to be adjusted to account for these new effects. A group of stones given up as lost early in the game but never actually claimed might be strengthened by a growing group nearby and now become a base from which to attack the stones once deemed dominent. There's a good reason the game's been around thousands of years.
